Amber Sword-Chapter 793 - 130: Erune Envoy
The Royal Scholar of Lantoniyan, Brand immediately recognized the other party's identity.
"An order?" Brand almost laughed: "From whom?"
"In the name of the Kingdom," the woman said, "We are an envoy sent here by Your Majesty, representing both His Majesty and the dignity of the Kingdom. Therefore, I order you—a young noble—to immediately lay down your weapon and come with us."
"Or else?"
"Otherwise, your actions may involve the Kingdom in a war. We have reason to declare your actions as violating the common code of the Erune Nobles."
"That is to say, we can declare you exiled from Erune, and your actions will have nothing to do with the Kingdom from then on."
Upon hearing this, Brand couldn't help but take a deep breath, despite his good manners. Fortunately, he had already seen the ugly faces of these fellows in the game. Otherwise, he would be infuriated to death.
He turned to look at Count Oting, observing this senior officer from the Northern Army, who was also a supporter of the future dead-hard Regent Prince, and asked, "As a soldier, is this also what you think, Count?"
But Oting didn't reply. He merely frowned slightly, displeased that Roborun had spoken before him and disliking the other's imprudence.
Although the Cruz envoy threatened war, as a soldier, he was not afraid of war. However, with Erune facing internal and external troubles, he had no choice but to stand on the same side with these people.
Count Oting's silence left Brand somewhat disappointed. He originally thought at least this future reformist would support him.
Only now did Brand realize that leaving Erune's rotten circle of nobles and starting afresh was indeed the right decision. The nobles of this Kingdom were hopeless.
He barely managed to contain his anger, then looked up at the Female Scholar and smiled slightly: "So Your Excellency intends to exile me from Erune?"
"That depends on your choice," the last noble replied.
Brand was on the verge of drawing his sword to cut down these bastards, but he immediately restrained himself, calming down as he looked at these people, responding with a laugh borne of rage:
"Alright, then you can tell the Luz people that I have been exiled from the Kingdom by you. Maybe they'll accept that explanation."
The several Erune Nobles were stunned.
They originally intended to threaten Brand into submission. As for the Cruz people accepting such an explanation, it was unlikely, as those fellows would clearly demand to see him in person.
"You're asking for it!" Count Roborun angrily said.
He raised his hand, intending for the envoy's guard to restrain this young noble. The envoy's guard was comprised of Kingdom Knights, the elite of the Kerkova Royal Family, and subduing a mere young noble shouldn't be a problem.
He had observed Brand's servants beforehand; they were all young or foreign, a ragtag band that couldn't match any significant strength even if they had combat capability.
Meanwhile, although the Cruz claimed Brand had offended them, they didn't specify Brand's glorious deeds to save face. They only vaguely mentioned the afternoon conflict at the Centaur's Hoof Market.
This led to the Erune Envoy's misjudgment, thinking Brand had some prowess but was ultimately limited. Their initial polite approach was to preserve strength before the coming Wolf Calamity, but since Brand insisted on resistance, they saw no reason not to use force.
Roborun, Oting, and the Female Scholar shared the same thought, that in any case, the Kingdom could not afford to be dragged into a new war because of this.
But as soon as his words fell, Brand smiled at him.
"So you intend to force me into submission?" he asked.
"Naturally."
"Then it seems the Cruz people didn't tell you the truth," Brand laughed. "If you really knew the entire story, you might be more cautious with your current actions."
"Stop bluffing," Roborun snorted coldly.
"Bluffing?" Brand shrugged: "Alright, the Cruz people surely didn't tell you—firstly, I offended the sole heir of the Duke of Empire Flower Leaf, causing this noble daughter to lose face publicly."
Count Oting was stunned. He originally thought Brand had a minor altercation with the Cruz people, but he didn't expect it to be such a big deal.
Unable to predict the Duke's temper, this might indeed ignite a war.
But Oting didn't expect Brand hadn't finished speaking.
The young Lord continued, "Then the Cruz people certainly didn't tell you—I also offended the Empire's Border Knight Order, beating one of their squads to the ground, unable to get up."
The Female Noble wanted to speak, but upon hearing this, her face changed—a single person floored an entire squad of Border Knights? She looked at Brand, thinking he was exaggerating absurdly.
"The Cruz people didn't tell you—I also offended the Empire's Knight of Flowers, Count Karenzi, known as the new generation Swordsman of ten years ago. I remember knocking him flying with a spell, wondering if he's recovered," Brand said with a laugh, "I hope it didn't leave any scars."
"I also disarmed an entire squad of the Imperial Forbidden Knights."
"Oh, by the way, there was also their Royal Alchemist Association—almost killed one of their geniuses—a fifteen-year-old War Alchemist."
The young man nodded: "Additionally, I seem to recall offending one more person—Veronica, Commander of the Blue Sky Legion. You must know this lady. I faced her in ten moves, finally threatening her with the Duke's daughter's safety, forcing her to retreat—."
He turned around, looked at Roborun's group with amusement: "If the Cruz people told you all this, would you still plan on taking me by force?"
Then he paused, looking at these people.
"Also, you want me to apologize to the Cruz people," he asked, "So tell me, who do you think I should apologize to out of all these Cruz people?"
