Amber Sword-Chapter 792 - 130: Erune Envoy (2nd Update)
"What are they here for?" Ben wondered.
But those Erune nobles had already slowed down not far from Ben, seemingly observing him. Ben actually knew these people; the leader was a middle-aged man, thin-faced and slightly limping — he seemed to be called Count Oting, a senior general from the Northern Army.
The six men and two women behind him all seemed to be non-influential nobles from the Royal Capital. Ben couldn't remember each of their names, but he recognized their faces.
These people were basically Royalists, at least centrists, but some belonged to the traditional Kingdom faction before the split. This further confirmed to Ben that they had been sent into the Black Forest before the internal conflict of Erune.
But how did they learn about the Lion Heart Sword?
Ben didn't know that in the battle of Ridenburg's breakthrough, Sir Wolf Ou Fuweier had been tracking their group all along, fully aware of all the White Knight Albton's secrets. Therefore, the Erune side had already sent people into the Jandener Region even before the Divine Artifact reacted.
However, when he observed these people, Count Oting's gaze also landed on him. This general from the Northern Phoenix Corps of Erune immediately recognized the identity of this young noble at first glance — that kind of calm and elegant demeanor couldn't be faked, and besides, Antitina beside him was clearly a noble daughter, with every move exuding a unique serenity. Being in the company of such a noble lady naturally left no doubt about his identity.
Count Oting glanced at those young people resting within the woodland, thinking they must be this young noble's servants. However, among them were Lizardmen, Elves, and Eruein, making for quite a complex assembly.
Then he turned back, his gaze returning to Ben: "Eruein?"
Ben nodded, thinking that these fellows certainly hadn't come all this way just to recognize him as a fellow countryman.
Sure enough, before Oting could speak, a short, fat noble beside him had already jumped in: "Are you that Erune noble?"
"Isn't Your Excellency an Erune noble?" Ben detected the hostility in his tone and raised an eyebrow in response.
The short, fat man was taken aback. Ben obviously recognized him as the notorious conservative named Roborun. Currently in his seventies or eighties, Roborun was well-maintained, as the Cruz race had much longer lifespans compared to humans. Thus, he appeared only middle-aged, although his splendid curly hair was already tinged with white, it was still neatly combed.
This broad and robust Earl was dressed in a silver Earl's robe, his hat adorned boastfully with three gold leaves representing his rank—ordinary Earls were decorated with three silver leaves, and these three gold leaves were clearly a special honor.
However, he was obviously stunned by Ben's retort, not expecting such a reply.
After a moment, he flew into a rage, shouting, "Whether I am an Erune noble is none of your business, kid! I'm asking you, are you the one who offended the Cruz Empire this afternoon, bringing trouble to the Kingdom?!"
Ben's expression darkened. He had already guessed what these people were here for —
To seek accountability.
As for why they wanted to hold him accountable, he only needed to think about what happened yesterday afternoon at the Centaur's Hoof Market to guess most of it.
Ben couldn't help but shake his head, thinking of Erune. Looking at these Kingdom officials, he felt somewhat speechless for a moment.
"If you're asking if I was the one who taught some arrogant people a lesson this afternoon, then yes, that was me," Ben replied coldly, staring at the other party. "But as for who brought trouble to the Kingdom, that remains unknown."
He looked at the fat man, with a slightly mocking gaze that needed no words to express its meaning.
"Since you admit it, that's good!" Roborun wasn't bothered by Ben's look, simply replying, "The envoy from the Cruz has already informed us that if we don't hand you over within the given timeframe, they threaten that the Kingdom will face a war — kid, you'd better figure it out!"
"So you want to hand me over?" Ben asked, looking at these people with a hint of amusement. "Do you think that's possible?" 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"That's an order." This time, it was a middle-aged noblewoman who spoke. The lady wore the attire of a city official from the Royal Capital but bore the badge of a scholar.
