Amber Sword-Chapter 895 - 178: Battle of the Gorge (Part 2)
The mountain path branching downward was already close at hand. But rather than a mountain path, it was more like a series of naturally formed, masterfully crafted rocks protruding from the cliff. It was hard to say if this was a feat of human craftsmanship.
Even without the roaring winds, achieving such an engineering feat on this wall of a cliff would have been a miracle. But now, it could only be described as a divine miracle.
"Lady Veronica, give me the Lion Heart Sword! I’ll go below, you run from above!" Brand shouted as he ran, his voice somewhat indistinct through the roaring wind.
"Lion Heart Sword?"
Veronica saw Brand’s gaze land on the Green Sky in her hand and suddenly understood. She looked at Brand in disbelief—but the latter nodded at her.
The lady placed one hand on her sword, hesitating. But in the end, she tossed it out, and Brand raised his hand to catch the sword mid-air, then dashed towards the path leading into the Abyss.
Andesa, lagging far behind, paused slightly at this scene. She seemed to consider for a moment which side to pursue. Although doubtful, Brand’s mention of the Lion Heart Sword ultimately caught her attention, and besides, she absolutely wouldn’t give up on the Blood of the Dark God.
"Lord!"
The Female Sword Saint grabbed Qian: "Don’t go!"
"Let me go!"
Veronica was surprised to see the red-haired girl with a long ponytail looking at her with an aggressive, wolf-like gaze, baring her teeth as if she would bite at any moment.
Veronica was taken aback, but in such a tense environment, she couldn’t help but let out a stifled laugh.
"Ah, it seems you really like your lord."
Ah! Qian was flustered, forgetting to struggle.
By now, Brand was already far away, and even if she turned back to chase after him, it would be too late, while Andesa was closing in on him, even flinging a vine whip towards them as she passed.
Veronica hurriedly pushed Qian aside, rolling sideways to dodge the whip. She got up, seeing Andesa pursuing Brand until she disappeared, looking down only to see the rolling mist below.
As Brand landed on a jagged rock below, he remembered he was still holding Faina. The girl seemed petrified, her teeth chattering in fear.
"Why didn’t you just drop me earlier—"
The young lady’s voice trembled in the wind.
"Miss, should I drop you now?"
Brand leaped forward, traversing from one jagged rock to another, still having the leisure to respond.
"No!!"
"Hey, I say, do you want to or not?"
"You, you, you, wait till I go back, I’ll let my father cut you into pieces!"
"Wow, I’m so scared, how about I just make sure you don’t go back?"
"You, would you dare!?"
Brand loosened his grip slightly, scaring Faina into a scream as she clutched his neck. Brand felt a moistness on the back of his hand—it was tears. He then realized he had actually frightened the young lady to tears.
"You bastard..."
What a sin! Yet Brand felt no remorse; instead, he felt a great sense of relief, as this young lady had caused him plenty of trouble, the most recent being just a few minutes ago.
He couldn’t help but glance back at Andesa’s position, seeing her gaining speed in the misty backdrop, using vines to replace hands and feet as she scaled the cliff, not slowing down at all, soon to break through the mist behind them.
About dozens of meters away—
At such a distance, Andesa flipped her vine whip, something ’whooshing’ through the air towards him, causing Brand to leap swiftly out of the way.
The whip struck the rock, slicing off a chunk as if with a blade.
However, the fact that Andesa had entered attack range so quickly bothered him; Lord Withering’s speed was far more than his, and at this rate, it would surely catch up.
He glanced upwards, noticing the sharp rocks jutting from the cliff in succession, realizing there was no suitable place to leverage the terrain. But then Faina, wiping her reddened eyes, said irritably:
"Hey, your sword scabbard is poking me!"
"Sword scabbard?"
Only then did Brand realize he was still holding Veronica’s Green Sky, his eyes lighting up with a sudden strategy.
"Good idea!"
"Wh... what?"
