Chapter 175: Dual Mutated

A demonized came out, standing in front of them in a humanoid form—eight feet tall, with hands made out of pure steel.

"It’s a mutated demonized," Sofia stated.

"Yeah, and if anything, we know that they are harder to fight," Riven said.

"We can take it," she said and pointed her staff at it. Without so much as a pause, she blasted it with lightning.

The demonized crossed its arms and blocked the attack, taking no damage at all. Sofia looked at Riven, and Riven nodded. He dashed forward at full speed.

They needed to take down the demonized fast. They had been fighting since yesterday, and even when the enemy was weak, fighting repeatedly would surely drain them.

The demonized spotted Riven and immediately threw a punch. Its arm ripped through the air. Riven slid under and dodged the punch, but the force from the attack cut his cheek a little.

He got on his feet after dodging it, shocked that it still somehow managed to injure him. He lunged forward still.

The demonized took a step back and threw another punch. Riven parried the attack; sparks flew and it sounded like a rod was pressed against a grinding machine.

He made a counter after parrying the attack, but the demonized moved its arm to block, only to get a bolt of lightning to knock its forearm back.

The demonized was now open, free for Riven to attack. Riven made a quick decision. If he tried to close the gap right now and cut it with his sword, the demonized might be able to recover before he landed the attack, so there was only one option.

He used Flame Arc, slashing his sword with all the strength his body could muster. The flame arc shot out and cut the demonized right in the chest, leaving a very deep gash in it.

The demonized was knocked back, pain running all over its body. But right there, it started healing. Riven was shocked to see the demonized heal—he had dropped his guard, feeling he had won.

The demonized lunged forward and threw a punch. Riven blocked it, but was sent flying into a tree; his back slammed against the tree and broke it.

He got on his feet and looked at the demonized. It had two mutated abilities. Riven didn’t even know that was possible. The story had nothing like that. And even though this was a simulation of sorts, the fact that Quin put it meant that he had seen something like this.

"It’s dual mutated," Sofia said. She gripped her staff tighter.

"You know about it?" Riven asked.

"Yes. After the first mutation, the demonized can consciously decide to trigger a second, at a ninety percent risk of death, six percent risk of completely destroying their bodies and turning them into vegetables, and a four percent chance of dual mutation," Sofia explained quickly.

"I see," Riven muttered, learning information that he hadn’t seen before. He gripped his sword and locked eyes with the demonized.

"It doesn’t matter though. We will still kill you," he said and lunged at the demonized, running in a beeline toward it.

When he was halfway there, he used Flame Blast. The demonized, seeing the stream of flames headed for it, crossed its arms and blocked the attack. But the moment it landed on its arms, it exploded, and the demonized was thrown back immediately.

Riven sped up and went for the finish, but the demonized was already up and threw a punch at the same time Riven swung.

Boom!

Blade and fist collided and sent out a shockwave that rocked the forest and raised dirt and debris. The demonized raised its second hand to land a blow, but another bolt of lightning hit the arm and knocked it back.

"Not while I’m here," Sofia said, a serious expression on her face. She watched the fight closely, looking for any attack she felt would hurt Riven and then blocked the attack with her magic.

Sadly, she couldn’t engage fully. She had been using mana for a full day and a half now; she was nearing depletion and didn’t want to run out.

Riven, on the other hand, was grateful for the support Sofia was giving, because as she knocked the hand back, it gave him the opening for an attack. He leaped back, getting out of range from the arms, and then charged in again.

The demonized was about to bring back the arm that was knocked back, but before it could, Riven raised a flame wall. The fist slammed into the wall and burned.

Roaaar!

The demonized let out a resounding roar and tried to use its other hand to attack, but Riven did the same thing—creating another wall that blocked the second arm and created a straight path to the demonized.

It quickly raised its hands up rather than try to stop Riven. It covered its head, not wanting Riven to make it to the head.

"So that’s your weak spot," Riven muttered.

He had created the walls to block the demonized because he knew that it would create a path and give the demonized only a small moment to protect the most precious part of it, and it went according to plan.

"Sadly, I’m not going for your head," Riven said. He went for the legs and slashed them clean off.

Roaaaaarrrrrrrr!

It cried in pain as it collapsed to the ground. Riven could already see the legs healing up, but he was going to end it before it could. He leaped into the air; the demonized immediately covered its head.

Riven smiled when he saw it and immediately used Flame Blast. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"You can’t stop me! Hahaha!" Riven cackled like a madman. The attack hit the arms and then exploded, blasting the arms aside by force.

He gripped his sword with both hands and stabbed down right into the exposed head of the demonized, penetrating the head and stabbing into the ground—finally killing the demonized.

"Phew, that was a lot," Riven said as he pulled his sword out.
