Chapter 117: Chapter 108: Kumogi Bought ZEPS and Played Metal Gear!
Thursday, November 28, 1991 - Night
Kumogi had been eyeing the ZEPS console for a while, ever since he saw its advertisement on TV. After much deliberation, he finally decided to buy one. With his paycheck in hand, he visited the local game store and purchased not only the console but also four games: Metal Gear, Punch-Out!!, Super Mario, and Final Fight. He loved action games, and the store owner highly recommended Super Mario, calling it the best-selling game on the system so far.
After work, Kumogi rushed home, eager to set everything up. He quickly showered and ate a simple dinner before unpacking his brand-new ZEPS. The setup was straightforward—he connected it to his CRT TV, inserted the necessary cables, and turned it on. A small smile crept onto his face as the console booted up.
For his first game, he chose Metal Gear. He opened the game box and examined its contents: the cartridge, a detailed instruction manual, ZEPS Volume 3, and a peculiar black and gray Z-card with a cryptic message: "Use my item, and I will appear."
"Huh? What's this?" Kumogi muttered, flipping the card over. There were no additional clues. "Some kind of hint? Whatever, let's just play."
He inserted the cartridge, turned on the console, and watched as the Metal Gear title screen appeared. Pressing start, he was instantly drawn into the game's world. Controlling Solid Snake, he navigated through enemy bases, avoiding detection and taking down guards when necessary. The game was challenging, requiring a mix of stealth and strategy, he even found some unique mechanic , Kumogi AFK a bit , he left the controller a while, while his characters hide on behind walls. After he came back he sees the guards that patrol asleep!

"Huh? so the guards will asleep if it i leave it long enough without moving?" He then quickly hit the guard , then continue playing.
After progressing for a while, Kumogi discovered a round item labeled Z Radio inside a truck.
"What's this? Z Radio?" he mused, selecting it in his inventory.
A message popped up on the screen: "Very well, I will appear."
At first, nothing happened, making Kumogi frown. "Was that just a gimmick?" he wondered. But as he stepped outside the truck, he suddenly saw a mysterious character in a black jacket and gray helmet running around the area. The character darted back and forth, drawing the attention of the guards.
"Heh, so it's a distraction?" Kumogi chuckled, amused by the unexpected help.
However, his amusement quickly turned into horror as the character ran directly toward him—with four guards in pursuit!
"Wait! Don't bring them here!" Kumogi panicked, trying to maneuver Solid Snake out of harm's way. But it was too late. The mysterious figure vanished into thin air, leaving Kumogi alone with the guards.
Within seconds, the guards opened fire. The screen flashed red—GAME OVER.
"What the hell was that?!" Kumogi groaned. "So it doesn't just distract the guards, it actually leads them straight to you? What kind of useless item is this?" He sighed, shaking his head in disbelief.
Determined to move past the setback, he continued playing. He stealthily navigated through the enemy base, carefully managing his resources and avoiding unnecessary confrontations. Eventually, he defeated the first two bosses—Shotgunner and Machine Gun Kid—using a mix of careful positioning and well-timed attacks.
However, when he reached Twin Shot, the difficulty ramped up. Kumogi struggled as the two enemies coordinated their attacks, making it nearly impossible to land hits without taking massive damage himself.
"Damn, what should I do?" he muttered, staring at the screen.
Then he noticed something—there was a blind spot on the left side of the area. An idea struck him. "Maybe I should strike from there... but how? My gun can't penetrate walls... Oh! Right! Grenades!"
Excitedly, he selected grenades from his inventory and positioned Solid Snake in the blind spot. Carefully timing his throw, he launched a grenade toward one of the Twin Shot members. It exploded on impact, dealing massive damage.
"Yes! Hahaha!" Kumogi cheered, feeling a rush of satisfaction. He repeated the strategy, taking down the second Twin Shot member in the same way.
Finally, victory was his.
He leaned back in his chair, letting out a deep breath. But as he glanced at the clock, he groaned.
"11 PM already? Damn... I have work tomorrow." He sighed, reluctant to stop playing. Metal Gear was turning out to be far more fun than he had expected.
With a heavy heart, he saved his progress and powered off the ZEPS. As he climbed into bed, a thought crossed his mind.
Maybe one day, I could make my own game hheheheh...
With that dream lingering in his thoughts, Kumogi drifted off to sleep, eager for the next time he could continue his adventure.
*Author Note : Metal gear on NES really cool game , Kojima always cooking , though to get best of Kojima there`s need someone who place boundaries on him. Look at death stranding Its Cool game mechanics and bizzare game!, although i like it , but the way character interact and the dialogue is sometimes is just too... cliche.. "I`m Fragile , but i`m not that Fragile" like what..?*
