Chapter 563: Chapter 563: Planning Before Attack

When the meeting ended, Chu Miao decided not to send people out to fight blindly again.

She had thought that this would train them, but it was putting them at unnecessary risk.

This wasn’t the cultivation world and even though life won’t be the same even after the apocalypse ends because of the superpowered individuals, it won’t be like the Immortal Realm where the strongest survive.

So, she could go easy on them.

She decided to first scan the city with her divine sense and this time, she didn’t just focus on the surface, but also underground where the zombies might be hiding.

She decided to monitor their movement so that her teammates would know what to expect when they went out.

The following day after breakfast, she scanned the entire city and found clusters of zombies in some areas and the areas where her teammates and herself had purged the day before were completely clean.

"How is the building of the earth walls around the city coming along, Second grandpa?" She asked after the family was done with breakfast.

Butler Cheng had been tasked with building walls around the city. Leading a team of earth superpower users and cultivators with the earth element.

"It’s going well. The walls are at least twenty meters high and one meter thick. We decided to have metal element users and fire ability users to help in adding metal dust and burning them to melt them into the earth used to build the walls.

In this way, the walls are sturdier than regular ones and even rocket launchers couldn’t tear them down. This will be the safest city in the world once we are done." Butler Cheng replied proudly when Chu Miao asked about his progress.

"Eh, old friend,I didn’t know you had the makings of an architect. In that case, how about we make houses in a similar way inside the Soul Ring. This way, we can take out those fabricated houses and use them in the base?" Grandpa Chu was overjoyed to hear about how good the wall was and thought it was better not to waste such a good invention.

"Well, once we are done with the wall and clear the city of zombies, we can talk about that. For now, Little Bunny needs us all to help." Butler Cheng replied happily.

One couldn’t tell that the two old men had been a leader and subordinate for decades. They behaved just like brothers.

"Alright, alright. I will listen to you." Grandpa Chu said then turned to his granddaughter.

"Bunny, what are your plans now?" He asked seriously.

"Let me check the city then we can plan what to do." Chu Miao replied then closed her eyes to scan the city with her divine sense.

Now that she was at the nascent soul stage, scanning a mere city wasn’t a problem and she didn’t need too much mental energy. Besides, after cultivating in Liu Village for some time, her mental strength had increased significantly and so did her soul power.

Chu Miao’s lashes trembled slightly as her divine sense expanded outward like an invisible net. Covering all of City A within it.

From the breakfast table inside the warm, lively sect compound, her consciousness swept across buildings, through cracked highways, into abandoned malls, beneath collapsed subways, and deeper, into the soil where rats tend to hide.

She didn’t leave a single spot unchecked.

A clear picture of the city unfolded in her consciousness and spiritual eyes saw everything going on.

At the surface level, it looked almost peaceful in places. Snow and icicles masked bloodstains. Frost-covered streets glittered under the grey and white sky.

If one ignored the overturned buses and blackened ruins caused by the floods, it could almost pass for winter stillness.

But deep under subway tunnels, building basements and even hidden chambers, zombies huddled in clusters.

Some zombies were still roaming the streets without the fear of the falling icicles, but Chu Miao could tell that these were the low-level mindless ones.

The ones who have developed intelligence were hiding and avoiding the bad weather like normal humans.

The biggest zombie hordes were inside former hospitals, abandoned subways, large malls, and other transportation hubs.

It was as if they were hiding, but were also laying in ambush.

In this weather, if people got hurt or got sick due to the extreme cold, teams would flock to abandoned hospitals to look for medicine.

Others would go to large malls to look for supplies that had been overlooked during the first supply runs because now food was already very scarce.

There were also large numbers of zombies hiding in dried up sewer lines.

Chu Miao remembered the tunnels they had planned to build to help people to move underground to the mountain bunker.

Now it seems that even those that had been dug up should be filled. Zombies had made the underground their territory. If the tunnels continued to exist, they might expose the bunker, which was their last resort.

When she opened her eyes, she found everyone looking at her curiously.

In fact, they could all do the same and scan the city because they all had extensive divine sense.

However, they were worried that some of the spiritual zombies would notice their probing and alert the enemy.

So, they let Chu Miao, who had experience, do the scanning.

"So, how is it? Did you notice anything unusual?" Grandpa Chu asked as soon as Chu Miao opened her eyes.

"They are gathered together in large groups. Some in the thousands. Others in the hundreds of thousands. There are still millions of zombies inside the city. However, they seem to be avoiding the areas we cleared yesterday." Chu Miao replied thoughtfully.

"That means they have memories and can remember what happened. So, they are avoiding those places because they are dangerous." Chu Mo stated.

This was something they hadn’t expected.

The zombies not only knew how to plan battles now, they even knew which areas to avoid and where to set up an ambush.

Things were getting more interesting.
