Apocalypse with my SSS Harem Beauties-Chapter 93: Gather Again
Ryan motioned for Samantha to stay low as he crouched behind the wreck of a sedan. The stench grew heavier. It was pressing against their nose like a physical weight. Every breath burned in their throats. Their Perception also triggered that there must be something dangerous in that house.
The broken house stood a short distance away, its doorway swallowed by the shadow of the canopy ahead. For a moment, everything stayed silent until they saw something moved inside through the window curtain.
Then a scraping noise came from within, followed by a deep rumble that vibrated through the ground. Dust fell from the broken windowsills.
Samantha’s heart thudded painfully in her chest.
"Did you hear that?" she whispered.
Ryan nodded slowly. His eyes were still locked on the doorway. "Yeah. Something big is in there."
They waited without moving. Then, out of the darkness, a massive shape began to move.
It wasn’t clear at first. Just a shifting silhouette that blotted out light came through the cracks. But as it leaned forward, they caught a glimpse of something pale blue and huge.
The wall groaned under its weight.
Samantha’s gasped. "That thing’s big..." she muttered, barely audible.
Ryan narrowed his eyes. "Too big to be anything else other than what Myles had said."
The giant’s blue hue flickered briefly in the light before it sank deeper into the house again, as if retreating or waiting.
The memory of what that creature did to the others in the university still hung heavy in both their minds.
Ryan clenched his jaw. "We can’t fight that on our own even with our magical weapons and our levels now?"
Samantha shakes her head quickly. "No. We warn Myles first."
"Alright, then. We move back slowly and no sudden noise."
They began to retreat step by step, keeping their heads low and their weapons steady. Their movement felt painfully loud.
The air stayed heavy with foul stench.
They reached the corner of the street and crouched behind a fallen concrete slab.
Samantha glanced back one last time.
The house loomed silently in the distance. But she couldn’t shake the feeling that whatever lurked inside was watching them already.
"Let’s go," Ryan whispered. He felt the same.
Without another word, they slipped into the ruins and disappeared into the maze of collapsed buildings, heading back to warn Myles and the rest before the giant decided to attack them.
—
On the other side of the town, Myles moved quietly between the ruins, his boots crunching against the debris-strewn street.
The faint sound of wind whistling through shattered windows filled the silence.
Beside him several meters away, Nadine scavenged through a collapsed store, lifting pieces of metal and glass with focused precision.
They didn’t speak. There was no need to for now. They need time to think on their own.
Myles’s mind also didn’t rest.
"What comes next after this?" he thought. "We can’t keep wandering like this forever."
The group had survived this far, but survival alone wasn’t enough anymore. He needed a plan. They needed a place where they could defend themselves, gather their supplies, and build something stable. They need shelter. A base. Something that could last long.
But even as the idea took shape in his mind he could see another problem in front of their eyes. This world would only grow more dangerous. The monsters would evolve and the threats would multiply. The only way forward was power.
"Yes. There’s nothing else besides getting stronger," Myles thought, his gaze distant.
That had become his long-term goal. Once Lilian returned from whatever mission or task she had in the other realm, he would ask her again about strengthening the group. About unlocking new ways to grow stronger together.
But right now, their immediate danger still looms large. The giant.
That blue monster had to die before they could even think about anything else.
Then, a pulse of instinct washed over him. His Perception suddenly flared.
He stopped moving. His eyes darted toward the far end of the street.
Through the dusty air, two figures appeared. They were moving fast between the ruins. Their pace was too urgent for scavenging.
Myles immediately recognized them. It was Ryan and Samantha.
They were running.
Myles narrowed his eyes and straightened. His hand instinctively moved toward his shirt blade.
Something was wrong.
Ryan stumbled to a stop in front of Myles. His chest heaved. Samantha followed right behind him while panting hard as well.
"Myles," Ryan said. "We found it. The blue giant. It’s around that corner."
Myles’s expression hardened instantly. "Where?"
"Near the western street," Samantha answered quickly. "It’s hiding inside a collapsed house. We didn’t get too close just like you said, but I saw it. It’s big."
Nadine straightened from the pile of debris, her brow furrowed and she walked closer to them.
Myles’s mind worked fast. The others were still scattered across the area. If that monster moved toward them it would be a massacre.
"Alright," he said firmly. "We regroup first. Then we deal with it before it finds us."
Samantha hesitated. "Are you sure we can kill that thing now?"
Myles glanced toward the western ruins. His eyes narrowed, filled with the kind of confidence.
"We can. That thing is here and will hunt us when he is this close. It will be better if we strike him first," Myles said.
Myles turned to Samantha. "You head back to the house first," he said. "Make sure nothing follows you. We’ll find the others and regroup there."
She hesitated, then nodded firmly. "Alright. I’ll go ahead."
"Stay quiet and keep low," Ryan added. "That thing can probably be heard from miles away."
"I know," she said, then turned and slipped into the ruins.
Myles exhaled through his nose and looked toward the other two. "We split from here. Nadine, you take the south side. Ryan checks the eastern route. I’m going south."
Nadine gave a short nod. "Got it."
"Be fast," Myles said. "If that monster starts moving before we regroup, we’re finished."
Nadine sprinted down the street without another word. Myles and Ryan went the other way.
Myles’s gaze stayed fixed on the horizon while he ran. .
