Apocalyptic Rebirth: With a repairman system space, she rises again.-Chapter 461: A three way battle.
Another summons for a repair job she was to undertake with Nine found Sunshine in the middle of helping Castiel with his drawing homework. She left him in the company of his grandfather and Lisha, then went off to the space.
The job was on another ship.
As soon as she arrived, she frowned at the smell of burned wires and rubber. While she adjusted her gloves, she could not help shooting a glare at the insectoid alien that had come donning armor as if they were headed into a battle.
It glared right back at her.
Their hatred for each other was so thick that it was almost solid now. It was not the casual dislike of coworkers that stole pens from each other, but a deep loathing reserved for mortal enemies that would gladly rip out the other’s throat.
"I will take the wiring." She said through gritted teeth.
Nine’s mandibles clicked. "Your primitive clumsy uneven fingers couldn’t repair these wires. I will handle this."
Ha-ha." Sunshine shot back, "I clearly recall your jealousy over my success at work being mentioned as one of the reasons why you hate me. Also, I double checked some of your work from the last job we did together. Let’s just say the wall of the ship was not in a good mood after you touched it." She spun around. "I will start in the relay tower."
The relay tower loomed outside the loading station. It was a skeletal structure jutting into the brown skies of the planet below. Wind howled cruelly, and lightning flashed, illuminating the jagged landscape.
Sunshine shuddered. Being assigned to repair something in what looked like an abandoned spaceship loading station was not rosy work.
It was how sci-fi horror movies started!
Mandibles clicked behind her. Nine flew over her. "I will be in the relay tower."
Sunshine leaped onto a ladder and climbed up slowly, detesting Nine for beating her to the tower just because he had wings. Then, she recalled the hoverboard, so she switched her mode of transportation.
Nine smirked when he saw her. "Took you long enough. Now hand me the stabilizer."
Sunshine hissed. "I am not your servant. But I would happily hand you a wrench and shove it up your thorax."
She moved to the other side and got to work, ignoring every clicking sound and sly comment he was making. Until she could not, which resulted in bickering. Their voices rose over the wind.
Their shouting carried across the canyon. And it carried to something else too.
From the shadows in the abandoned station, a sleeping beast stirred. It was small but furry, covered in scales. With tusks like spears and eyes that glowed.
Neither Sunshine, nor Nine noticed until they heard movement coming from the ladder below. When they looked outside, they saw it. Its eyes that glowed red focused on them with purpose.
"Oh crap!" Sunshine hissed. "I knew this would happen."
Nine pressed the emergency evacuation beacon on the watch strapped around one of claws. "There is a ravager here. I repeat...." His mandibles clicked furiously. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
The beast lunged, climbing the tower with terrifying speed.
Sunshine tried to vanish into her space, but it seemed to be rejecting her. She grabbed her hammer. "We need to fight it off."
"Agreed. You distract it while I fly and find help." Nine told her.
She scoffed. "Excuse me?"
"You are smaller and slower. Easier to throw." He told her.
Before she could protest, Nine shoved her toward the ravager. She stumbled, barely dodging a tusk that gouged the sole of her boot. Sunshine fired icicles down and the beast swung away.
She yelled at Nine. "You fucking roach! You son of a bitch! Did you just try to feed me to that thing?"
Nine shrugged. "Sacrifices must be made."
Sunshine shot her icicles at him, instead of the beast which was returning. Nine swatted them away with his claws which proved to be stronger than the armor he was wearing.
Sparks flew as some icicles brushed against the armor.
The ravager roared, and leaped inside the tower, swiping at both of them. They ducked, rolled and resumed fighting each other.
"I am going to kill you and then the beast." Sunshine declared.
Nine spat poison, aiming at the beast and Sunshine. "Not if I kill you both first."
It was chaos.
Sunshine froze and shattered the ravager’s tusks while simultaneously commanding her hammer to break Nine’s shin. Nine clawed at the ravager’s flank while trying to drag Sunshine into its jaws.
"Stop fighting me." He shouted.
"You are trying to kill me you crazy roach!" She shouted.
"I am multitasking." Nine replied.
The ravager snapped its jaws, nearly biting off Sunshine’s arm. She retaliated by throwing and acid grenade into its mouth. The beast backed away from her, howling and thrashing violently.
Nine took the opportunity to shove her out again. If she fell to her death, it could be considered a work accident.
He failed.
She elbowed him in the mandibles and threw and acid grenade at him.
He had seen what it could do so he shoved the ravager in front of him. The beast did not dodge in time and the grenade exploded over its eyes. As its howling worsened, Sunshine and Nine faced off, each holding a weapon.
For her, a hammer and for him, a sword.
"You bitch!" He screamed. "Did you just throw acid at me!"
"I thought you were in need of a face lift." Sunshine replied. "Your current faced looks like a watermelon that exploded."
"And your entire species smells like rotten ass." he hissed. "That is why I hold my nose when you walk into the room. Ever heard of a bath?"
Sunshine growled and leaped at him. "I bathe everyday you damn roach. I think you need a bath in a tub filled with my acid grenades."
They clashed in rage.
Blinded by the acid, the ravager knocked over some cables. Metal groaned, the tower tilted. Lightning flashed.
Despite the danger, Sunshine and Nine kept the insults coming.
The ravager roared, clearly annoyed that its prey was too busy arguing to die properly. And aggrieved because they did not seem to see it as much of a threat. In this battle, it was the victim.
Using its smelling senses, it got between them, determined to kill them both. Nine whipped it with one of the loose cable wires.
Sunshine smashed one of its legs with her hammer and then electrocuted it. "See how easy it is for me to fry you, bugface." She shouted to Nine.
Nine stabbed into the stomach of the ravager with his claw. "I will rip out your insides freak. Don’t threaten me,"
"Then face me bugface." She challenged.
Nine kicked the ravager away, determined to face Sunshine.
The ravager also prepared for another charge, determined to kill at least one of the two annoying creatures.
"WHAT do you two think you are doing?" Vortan appeared in the tower, face thunderous.
The ravager froze, as if even it feared Vortan’s disappointment. With a final snarl, it climbed out of the tower, retreating far deeper into the canyons.
All it left behind was a trail of black blood.
