Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 108: Thugs
Chapter 108: Thugs
Elena watched on the CCTV screen as the thugs confidently walked toward the steel bar gate, laughing and joking among themselves, seemingly convinced they could overpower them by sheer numbers.
With guns strapped to their sides, the thugs’ bravado intensifies, making it clear that they feel invincible.
Noticing that no one was guarding the gate, they quickly took action, believing that the upper-floor occupants had chickened out and were now hiding in their units.
"Alright, let’s take this steel bar by force," the red-haired thug said eagerly. His mind wandered to the beauty above, determined to break through and claim his prize.
The thugs took out their equipment and began cutting the steel bar, but the metal was surprisingly sturdy, making their task much harder than they anticipated. freewebnσvel.cøm
"Boss, this gate is really sturdy!" the thug exclaimed, struggling against the tough steel while glaring at his friends. "F*ck! Who said the voltage was non-lethal? Look! It’s running at high voltage!" he growled, cursing as he nearly died from electrocution.
The red-haired thug felt embarrassed, knowing he had given the wrong information, but he would never admit his mistake. Instead, he decided to blame this idiot.
"Shut up! Why did you bring the wrong tool? I told you to bring the insulated grinder, not that regular one!" the boss snapped.
"Eh, boss, you chose this tool a while ago," the thug replied, confusion in his voice.
"Stupid! You must have seen it wrong; I clearly pointed to the insulated grinder!"
"Oh, my bad, boss. I’ll go downstairs and get it quickly," the thug said, dashing down the stairs, eager to avoid his boss’s wrath.
Hearing their argument, Elena felt bewildered by their antics; these thugs seemed more like street punks than professionals.
With seven of them standing at the gate, guns in hand, she and the others didn’t want to confront them head-on.
Instead, they planned to ambush them the moment they reached the 26th floor.
’Can’t they see the gate is open? They just need to use insulated gloves to push it,’ Elena thought as she watched the CCTV screen. It seemed so simple, yet the thugs’ incompetence only fueled her frustration.
Yes, they had left the gate open to avoid damaging it; the sturdy structure would take a long time to dismantle, and Elena didn’t have the time to wait.
She wanted to end this quickly and get some rest.
The thugs waited for their subordinates to return, curiosity piqued as they gathered around the steel gate.
A few of them studied it closely, and one noticed that the gate was actually open.
He got excited and reached out to push it, but the red-haired thug shouted, "Idiot! Don’t touch the gate, or you’ll get electrocuted!"
The other thug pulled him back just in time, saving him from being electrocuted.
He then glanced at his boss’s angry expression and quickly reported his findings, "Boss, I got excited when I noticed that the gate was open."
"Open? Go, check it out," the red-haired thug instructed them to double-check whether it was true.
The others quickly looked at the gate and confirmed it was indeed open. They told the boss, prompting them to wait for the thug who had the insulated gloves.
"What took you so long?" the red-haired thug shouted, reprimanding him for making them wait for nearly ten minutes.
"Boss, the insulated grinder was not in the inventory room. It was placed in a different area, so I searched for it and found it around the other room," the thug explained, panting from searching for the tool.
"Enough with the chatter. Use the insulated gloves and push the gate. It was open all along! You idiot, you didn’t check it and wasted our time."
"Eh, yes, boss," the thug replied, a hint of embarrassment in his voice.
Afterward, they ascended the stairs in pairs, with the red-haired thug, still vigilant, bringing up the rear.
Watching them closely, Elena and the others waited patiently. They had already devised a plan to eliminate the thugs silently: Elena would target the first row, while the others would focus on the second, third, and last row.
The moment they stepped closer, Elena and Ethan exchanged a quick glance. Concealed in a dark corner away from the thugs’ view, they aimed their silencers and prepared to fire.
As soon as the thugs came into sight, they swiftly took action and opened fire.
’Pop! Pop!’
A rapid series of shots rang out silently, catching the thugs by surprise and leaving them bewildered as they fell.
In an instant, their lives were extinguished, and they couldn’t grasp how quickly it had all happened.
The red-haired thug was taken aback, momentarily stunned by the sudden attack. Just as he was about to return fire, a bullet struck his shoulder, forcing him to drop his gun.
Fortunately, being at the rear allowed him to retreat downstairs, desperately seeking a hiding place.
Anger surged through him as he quickly formulated a counterattack.
He was the last one standing out of seven, and with no other option, he bolted downstairs to their floor.
However, the residents from the upper levels pursued him relentlessly, firing with determination, intent on taking him down.
Elena spotted that there was still one thug left behind, and without hesitation, she took aim and fired a bullet.
But, this one was now on high alert, dodging and hiding with surprising agility
"Let’s move, he’s about to enter their floor!" Ethan called, his voice filled with urgency as he followed the thug down the stairs.
Seeing them getting closer, the red-haired thug couldn’t help but curse.
’F*ck. Who said they were easy to deal with? They have guns and well-trained shooters,’ the thug muttered as he ran, his pace faltering with each step as blood dripped from his shoulder injury.
He pushed the pain aside, focusing solely on escaping.
Out of the people he saw firing, the beauty he had always thought about was the one who had taken down his subordinate the most.
He wanted to smack and kill her, but his injury held him back, so he decided to use his last card.
Seeing them closing in at the entrance, he finally stopped and tossed a grenade. With a manic expression, he shouted, "Die, bi*ch!"
The grenade distracted Elena and the others, allowing the red-haired thug to escape successfully.
As he fled, he laughed while thinking about their fate.
They watched as the red-haired thug tossed a grenade at the entrance, indifferent to the consequences. All he wanted was revenge and to escape this floor as quickly as possible.
He knew they might not survive the explosion, but if they did, he would be at a disadvantage. So, he quickly entered the manager’s unit and locked the door behind him.
Upon seeing the grenade, Oslo and Xander quickly rushed to store it in their [Inventory]. Stunned by their reckless actions, Elena swiftly used her own [Inventory] to store it from a distance.
The grenade vanished, becoming static within her [Inventory]. Unlike the others, who needed to touch an item to store it, she could place items inside without any physical contact.
"What the heck are you doing? Your priority should be your safety right now! What if it explodes before you can store it? Then your bravado would be useless!" Elena snapped, shouting at the two, who were still caught up on the grenade.
Ethan calmed his wife, emphasizing the more important matters at hand. Elena quickly calmed down and recognized that this wasn’t the time for disputes.
"The red-haired thug has escaped. He’s probably hiding in the manager’s unit," Ethan said, contemplating whether to pursue him.
"We have to eliminate him. Check the CCTV footage to see if he goes downstairs to seek backup," Elena instructed while thinking deeply.
’Did heaven interfere again? No matter how hard I tried to aim precisely, that thug still managed to dodge it.’
Oslo quickly checked the CCTV on the lower floor and confirmed that the thug hadn’t passed the 20th floor, indicating he was hiding in the manager’s unit. He swiftly relayed the information to them.
"His injury might hinder him from going downstairs, and he’s probably afraid we’ll catch up to him," Oslo noted, piecing together the thug’s likely state of mind.
The trio readied themselves to head downstairs to confront the red-haired thug, but they paused when Elena spoke up.
"By the way, that bastard called me a bitch, right? Perfect. Let him be my experiment. I want to check something," Elena said with a sinister smile.
Seeing Elena’s demeanor, they couldn’t help but shiver. It was the first time they had witnessed her anger intertwined with curiosity, sending a chill down their spines.
Elena walked over to the area where the thug’s blood was visible. She sneered at the thug’s confident attitude, clearly believing he would be safe once he entered the manager’s unit.
"He thinks he can hide from us. Let’s see if Heaven can help him then," she said with disdain, her voice dripping with contempt.
She then summoned her Golden Tablet.
Everyone was taken aback when they saw the ragged tablet. Ethan raised his brows and asked, "Wife, what are you going to do?"
Elena smiled mysteriously and replied, "You’ll find out soon."
