Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 202: Relief distribution
Chapter 202: Relief distribution
"According to the news, the government will start distributing supplies tomorrow. Residents just need to go to the newly established evacuation center and show their IDs to receive them," Jetro explained with a smirk.
Everyone stared at him, sensing there was more behind the news.
He continued, "But there’s a catch. Priority will be given to those who enlist. The government actively recruits residents to join their ranks or take up jobs under them."
"So, people must join the government to get supplies. Looks like they’re short on manpower."
After realizing that the Camel Tower and Golden Tower buildings stood on higher ground, the government quickly chose the area as a new central hub for City A residents.
They’ve already begun relocating some of their personnel and are now launching a mass recruitment for government roles—with their own hidden agenda, of course.
"They’ll still provide supplies to the nearby residents—the question is, what kind of supplies are they offering?" Jetro said, clearing up the situation.
But ultimately, those who enlist and work at the base will still be the top priority.
On top of that, the residents didn’t have a good impression of the government, so it seemed they were trying to bribe them with food.
According to the government report, the residents weren’t afraid of being banned.
As long as the Paradise shop remained open, they still had a way to trade and exchange supplies.
So, for now, everything was fine. They didn’t care whether they received help from the government or not.
Of course, they would still line up on distribution day—just in case something useful was being handed out.
"How does the payment work for those who get hired?"
"The compensation will be food," Jetro explained.
"According to nearby residents, the base is still figuring out the point system. They also need workers for various jobs—technical roles or manual labor—and food payments will depend on how difficult the job is."
"What do you think?" Ethan asked both Oslo and Xander.
"One reason for all this recruiting is likely because they need more people to deal with the mutated cat," Oslo concluded.
Clearly, the government was serious about getting rid of the threat, so he continued.
"Should we join forces to take it down before it grows even stronger and evolves further?"
Elena chuckled. "It won’t be easy for it to evolve to the next tier. Since the mutated cat is already at Tier 1, we’ll need stronger attacks to bring it down."
"So, we just sit around until we’re strong enough? Well, at least it won’t evolve again."
"Of course not! I also never said it can’t evolve into Tier 2—it still has a chance, but it’s slim. Like all of you, I’ve been thinking of ways to take it down before it becomes too powerful. But let’s wait for the military to arrive before we decide our next move," she replied, then explained their deal with the military.
General Kaiser had promised her that they would return with military officers to take down the mutated cat.
So, she was waiting for them—hoping this time they could finally kill it.
It was just that they hadn’t received any updates from the military yet.
"By the way, Jetro, is there anyone in the police department worth recruiting for our side?" Ethan asked.
It was time to bring in more people to fight for their cause.
With forces gathering around the area, they needed to be well-prepared in case the other forces tried to make a move.
"There are a few," Jetro replied.
"But when I tried to approach them, they turned me down. I’m not sure what the government promised them, but they prefer to stay under their control."
He sighed. The government was clearly clever enough not to let go of any of its trained officers.

On the day of the relief distribution, Elena woke up early and put on her cold-resistant suit, ready to head to the evacuation center.
Meanwhile, Ethan prepared breakfast for her, quietly watching as she moved around.
He wanted to stop her, thinking that standing in line would be tiring, and the weather outside was too cold.
But Elena was firm. She saw it as a form of exercise, and besides, she wanted to observe the situation with her own eyes.
With no other choice, Ethan reluctantly agreed. "Wife, let’s eat first, then head downstairs later."
"Okay, husband," she replied, giving him a quick kiss, clearly in a good mood.
Ethan smiled and served her the food.
Afterward, she took her vitamins, which were good for the baby.
Though they weren’t sure if the vitamins were still effective—since the baby was being nourished by spiritual energy—Ethan insisted she take them, following all the guidelines for pregnant women.
"Let’s bring Poochi and Wolfie and use them as our ride. They’ve been cooped up in the Paradise too long. Even with training, their natural instincts might weaken."
"All right, let me call them."
Elena summoned Poochi and Wolfie, who looked confused by the sudden change in surroundings.
Just moments ago, they had been playing in the Farm Sector, and now they were in the middle of Elena’s living room.
But the moment Poochi saw his master and mistress, his eyes lit up with joy.
"Aw~aw~~aw~~~!"
’Mistress, Master! Poochi is here with Wolfie,’ he barked happily, circling around Elena and trying to nudge his nose gently against her belly.
Of course, Ethan quickly stepped in.
"Stop nudging with that dirty nose. The baby definitely won’t like you when it’s born."
"Aw~aw~~aww!" Poochi barked in protest.
’You’re the dirty one, Master. Hmph. The baby likes me!’
"Why are you scolding Poochi? He just wants to say hi to the baby," Elena said with a warm smile, amused by the playful exchange.
She then sat on the sofa and gently petted both Poochi and Wolfie.
They looked like brothers—so cute and close to each other.
"Wife, don’t spoil him. He’s only acting this way because you’re pampering him."
"aw~aw~aw" Poochi barked in disdain.
’You’re just jealous! Mistress loves me more.’
He then walked proudly, showing off his shiny, strong body with confidence.
Elena laughed.
This time, Poochi had clearly won.
Seeing his wife smile so brightly, Ethan felt that playing the fool was totally worth it.
After their usual bickering, Elena and Ethan exited the space, bringing Poochi and Wolfie along.
Just as they were about to step out the door, Daniel and Xander joined them at Grandpa Caldwell’s request.
Little Mia also wanted to come, her big eyes silently pleading—but Ethan refused in a firm voice.
"Not this time, Little Mia. It’s too cold outside."
