Chapter 62: Bring it on!

Returning to the outside world, Elena pondered about the events of their journey. She wondered if this was mere coincidence or if everything had been meticulously orchestrated against her. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

First, the sinkhole. They might have been lucky, or perhaps it had been waiting for them when they arrived in City F.

Then, just after they were about to arrive at City C, a mountain collapsed, blocking the road to City F.

’Thank goodness they were not buried alive’

Next came the tsunami. As soon as they entered the city, the blaring sound of the tsunami alarm filled their surroundings.

Now, they were heading toward City B, a place currently ruled by criminals. She bet she would still be dragged in even if they tried evading it.

This string of unusual events felt suspicious, as if someone were plotting to eradicate her..

Elena reflected on the series of unfortunate events from her past life, and then gazed up at the gloomy sky with unhinged disgust.

’Good lord, the heavens want to eradicate me. For what reason? Tsk, oh, Heaven...’

With mocking tone she continued.

’Do you think I’m abnormal? Do you think it’s unfair that I was reborn? Or maybe it’s because of my time ability?’

The heavens might be wary of her as a time manipulator, knowing her actions could disrupt the natural order and alter the course of history.

In her past life, she had never perfected her time ability. She never knew the extent of what she could do. As the alien had said, she could reverse ruined words to livable ones, making it seem as if she was tampering with the fate of that world.

’So, the heavens didn’t like individuals who altered what was already done.’

Though they accepted fair exchanges, they still didn’t want anyone meddling too much and changing the course of the past.

Then, those humans who hunted her, along with the aliens that killed her—all of it orchestrated by this damned heaven.

The very forces that were supposed to uphold balance had turned against her, manipulating events to ensure her downfall.

"Haahhahahaah," Elena laughed, her expression manic.

Her laughter echoed in the secluded area, breaking the heavy silence as they stood in the abandoned house.

Ethan was taken aback by his wife’s laughter, which was filled with grief, anger, and blame.

As tears flowed down her cheeks, Ethan rushed to her side, enveloping her in a warm embrace, his concern was evident.

"Wife... Wife... Don’t cry. What happened? Tell your husband, okay?" he said softly, trying to soothe her.

"Maybe I was jinxed by the heavens," Elena replied, her voice filled with anger.

"The events happening to us—the sinkhole, the collapsed mountain, the tsunami—and now we have to deal with criminals. The heavens might not really like me."

"Don’t say that. The one who is jinxed is me," Ethan rebutted, his brow furrowing in frustration.

’My wife is so good; why wouldn’t heaven like her? The heavens might be really blind.’

Elena didn’t respond, her gaze fixed on the gloomy sky again.

Now, it seemed the heavens wanted to eradicate her for disrupting the fairness of this world.

’Fairness? How dare this heaven? Why would you give time ability if you guys don’t like it?’

She felt a surge of indignation.

’What about the Heathers? They had their abilities before awakening, and they can see the future. What about the aliens? They were too strong from the very beginning.’

Elena then thought that the Heathers could only foresee the future, which had not yet happened, and change the flow of events as they navigated the present. To them, this ability seemed normal.

In contrast, she could send her consciousness back to the past, where events had already occurred, and changing anything would disrupt the flow of time. Because of this, they deemed her abnormal.

’What about the aliens? Why are they so strong?’ she wondered.

’Maybe the heavens tried to balance fairness since human abilities are too powerful, prompting them to buff up the aliens.’

Now that Elena believes she will possess two abilities in the future. The Golden Tablet, once upgraded to Tier 1, would grant her the Space ability, and when awakening occurred, she would gain the Time ability.

Space and Time.

’Then, how strong would the disasters and aliens need to be to maintain the fairness that the heavens wanted to impose?’

’Tsk... Tsk... oh, Heaven, I, Elena Caldwell, accepted your challenge and I will never back down.’

"Husband, I’m fine," she said, a smile breaking through her earlier turmoil.

Her tone was now filled with conviction. "I’m just overwhelmed by the events happening to us."

Elena understood that Heaven could no longer interfere once they lost their grip on this world. When a new cycle emerged, they would only be passive observers.

Perhaps they were doing their best now to create an opportunity to cripple her as much as possible. If they couldn’t eradicate her before the cycle, that was fine; they had already buffed their minions, the aliens, to do their bidding.

’That’s it. hahaah Heaven. Well played.’

The heavens were truly schemers, employing the aliens to eliminate her while ensuring they couldn’t capture her ability to restore their own ruined world

She had once tried to access the alien library back when she was in the future, desperate to find something that would allow her Tier 1 Time ability to rewind time.

But alas, there were only two records of Time Ability users, and the content was useless. The aliens hadn’t found a time ability user for almost a thousand years.

She finally understood: Heaven had eradicated them. So far, no time ability user had survived to tell their own stories.

The moment Elena realized that the heavens had other agendas, a powerful strike of thunder echoed through the city.

The sound sent ripples of panic through the crowd; people rushed toward the evacuation center, shouting in fear.

"The heavens are angry!"

"What is happening in the world?"

Elena did not budge; instead, she embraced Ethan tightly, drawing strength from his presence.

Seeing his wife calm down, Ethan felt a wave of relief. He showered her with affectionate kisses, his voice warm and reassuring.

"Wife, you’re my lucky charm. I am the one jinxed. Marrying you was the best and happiest thing I ever did. Haist, don’t think about this disaster anymore. We will face it together."

’My wife is good and the best wife in the world.’

Elena couldn’t help but smile at her husband’s sweet tirades. She was grateful that this man had found her and pursued her to be his wife.

"I love you, husband. Let’s go to the evacuation center to find some news," she said, her voice steady.

They moved quickly, entering the evacuation center together.

Before stepping inside, Elena cast one last fierce glare at the sky.

’Bring it on.’

With that, she walked in with straight and confident poise.
