Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 66: Looting
Chapter 66: Looting
As Elena entered the city, she was met with the same grim scene they had encountered in other places: ruined buildings and scattered debris everywhere.
However, this city felt hauntingly empty, devoid of any human activity. She saw many bodies lie buried beneath the rubble, victims of both the disaster and gunfire.
"This city feels desolate and eerie," Elena remarked, surveying her surroundings.
"Let’s find a secluded area and leave as soon as possible," Ethan replied.
Just as they were about to depart, Elena spotted a bank and suggested they check it out.
"This bank has already been looted, except for the vault. Its security is advanced, so they couldn’t break in. Let’s take it for ourselves."
Without hesitation, Elena sprang into action, and put the vault door into the space.
’This feels like cheating.’
Inside, they discovered shelves filled with sparkling diamonds and jades. The other designated area was overflowing with cash.
Elena then stored everything, leaving nothing behind.
"Haha! This heist feels so satisfying! We should definitely loot other cities if we have time," she laughed.
Seeing her genuine happiness, Ethan couldn’t help but chuckle.
’Making my wife happy is so easy.’
"As long as you’re happy, we can loot everything later," he replied.
They moved quietly, planning to leave the city center, but soon they spotted a museum and decided to loot again.
"Husband, let’s take a look inside. I bet there are plenty of antiques in there."
"Okay, but be careful of the falling debris."
They cautiously scouted the area, ensuring the building wouldn’t collapse before venturing deeper inside, collecting every antique they could find.
Elena was brimming with joy, her excitement palpable as she admired the displays.
"Are you really that happy?" Ethan asked, holding her hand.
"Of course! Look at this scepter! It’s from the XXX kingdom and over 5,000 years old. Sometimes I hesitate to use this antique to replenish and upgrade the Golden Tablet."
"Wife, if you don’t want to use it, don’t. I promise I’ll find more antiques for you."
"When did you become such a smooth talker?"
"I’m always good at it; it comes naturally to me when I’m with you," Ethan proudly replied.
’Of course, wife, I bought the 12th edition book of How to Please Your Wife.’
Elena rolled her eyes again.
’Do you think I don’t know you read that weird book every night?’
After their exploration, both sought a secluded spot to rest. Evening was approaching, and they planned to leave under the cover of night.
But just as they were about to step outside, a sharp gunshot rang out.
BANG!
At first, Elena and Ethan thought it was just another skirmish between rival gangs outside, but the sound of a bullet shattering a nearby window quickly clarified: they were the targets.
"Get down!" Ethan shouted, instinctively pulling Elena to the ground as glass rained around them.
They crawled behind a large pillar for cover.
Outside, chaos erupted, with shouts and sporadic gunfire echoing through the museum’s halls.
"Boss, I told you she’s here," one gang member said smugly.
The Iron Gang leader shot him a disdainful look.
"Did I say you were wrong? I’m here because I believe you. But don’t act so smug—we haven’t captured or killed them yet."
"Hehehe, thanks for trusting me, Boss."
"Go ahead and capture them."
’So noisy. Can you just do your job.’
"Of course, Boss. I’ll capture them. Boys, come with me!"
The gang moved toward the museum entrance, scanning for where Elena and Ethan hid.
"Where are they shooting from?" Elena whispered as she peered around the edge of the exhibit.
She caught sight of shadows moving outside—silhouettes of armed men taking cover behind parked cars and debris.
"We need to find a way to the back exit," Ethan replied, scanning the room for an escape route.
Then added, "We can’t engage with them openly while they’re hidden and shooting at us covertly. It puts us at a serious disadvantage"
"Let’s slip into Paradise and make them think we’ve left. We can go back an hour," Elena suggested.
As they crouched low, the gunfire intensified, and the sound of bullets ricocheting off the walls sent a jolt of alarm through Ethan.
His wife’s safety was his top priority.
Realizing how prepared the gang was, he nodded in agreement. "Let’s go."
With that, they vanished and entered the space.

Little Mia and Poochi were playing happily when she spotted her brother and sister crouching on the ground. She laughed joyfully at the sight of them, thinking they were playing.
"Sis Ewe, Brother Tan, what awe you doing?" she asked excitedly.
Seeing them crouched like he often did, Poochi barked loudly, thinking they were mimicking him.
"Aw~aww~~aww~~aw!"
’I missed you, Mistress! Are you playing with me?’
He nudged his nose closer to Elena’s face.
Ethan, noticing this, stood up and pushed Poochi away with a hint of disdain.
’This dog. I told him to exercise, but he’s just playing around. I need to supervise him better next time.’
Elena felt a bit embarrassed showing this side of herself to her beloved little Mia.
She quickly stood up and patted Mia’s head.
"Sis Ele, is just a little bit tired, that’s why she’s lying down a bit. What are you doing here with Poochi?"
Then she looked at Poochi, "You’re getting more handsome every day!"
Little Mia beamed, thrilled that her sister Ele was back. "We’re pwaying together!"
Poochi barked in agreement. "Aw~awww~aww~~~ "
’Yeah, playing is fun, Mistress!’
Elena then tried to find their other pet, Mimi, but couldn’t see her anywhere.
"Where’s Mimi?"
At the mention of Mimi’s name, Little Mia pouted.
"She hasn’t shown hewself today. I can’t find her, Sis Ewe."
Elena raised her brows and closed her eyes, trying to sense where the cat might be. Then she spotted her near the Easter lake, watching dolphins swim happily.
’What on earth is Mimi doing there?’
"Let’s not bother her. How about we have a snack first? Who wants chocolate cake?"
"Aw~awww~awww~"
’Me!’
"Yay, you’re the best, Sis Ewe!"
Afterward, they set up a picnic-style meal, laying out a spread of fruit, cheese, and chocolate cake on a blanket under the trees.

Meanwhile, the gang was desperately searching for the woman who had killed their brothers. They believed she was hiding inside the museum, but after a thorough search, they found nothing.
"Boss, I swear I saw them enter here," a gang members insisted, his voice shaky.
"So you mean they just magically vanished?" the boss snapped, his frustration boiling.
"Eh, yeah, boss."
"Did you take drugs again?" the boss growled, glaring at him.
"Not yet, boss."
"So you’re planning to?" the boss shot back, his patience wearing thin.
"Eh, boss, can we go back to the topic?"
The boss was so angry he felt like murdering his trusted subordinate.
"Enough!!! If they’re not here, then find them. Don’t make stupid excuses. Vanish? Do you think they’re ghosts? They’re hiding for sure. Stupid!"
"Yeah, you’re right, boss! They’re definitely hiding. Let’s go, boys—let’s check the other building!"
The boss watched them leave, filled with rage.
’I need to hire more intelligent subordinates, or I’ll go crazy.’
After a while, Elena and Ethan cautiously returned to the museum. They carefully checked to see if the gang was still there, but after looking around, they discovered that the gang had finally left.
"Looks like they’ve already left," Ethan whispered, scanning the area with cautious eyes.
Silently, they exited the museum and headed straight for the road to City A.
"It’s raining!" Ethan exclaimed as they stepped outside, the first drops hitting the ground.
"Let’s hurry! The drive to City A will only take two hours," Elena urged, glancing at the darkening sky.
"It could be dangerous," Ethan warned.
"No, we have to move now. Otherwise, it’ll be too late. In my dreams, this rain is always accompanied by fog after 3 hours; that means zero visibility later, and navigating will be difficult," Elena explained anxiously.
Seeing her distress, Ethan nodded in agreement.
"Okay, let’s hurry. Hop on the motorcycle!"
