Chapter 588: Chapter 580: Root Termination_1

After school, Jiujiu greeted her classmates and headed towards Xiaobei’s house. She enjoyed spending a couple of days at Xiaobei’s place, even though she missed her grandparents and mother. At least she didn’t have to see Ou Tiannan.

There was a shortcut from the school to Xiaobei’s house, which was to walk along the edge of the moat, cross a bridge over an area of ruins, and then turn onto the main road that led directly to their family compound.

Jiujiu took this route daily and had never felt afraid before. For some unknown reason, today as she walked here, she felt her scalp tingle with fear.

Clutching her school bag, she thought to herself, if she could just dash past, then all would be well.

"Jiujiu, have you finished school? Why aren’t you heading home? Where are you heading to?" Ou Tiannan suddenly appeared from behind the broken wall of the ruins, gazing at Jiujiu with an apparent benign look on his face.

Jiujiu halted in her tracks, fear gripping her heart. She regretted not taking Xiaobei’s advice to avoid this route and take a longer one home instead. That would have only taken an additional twenty minutes.

"What’s wrong, not even a peep upon seeing your Uncle?" Ou Tiannan said, his smile widening as he took slow steps towards Jiujiu.

Jiujiu sensed a sinister undertone in Ou Tiannan’s grin. As fear gripped her heart, she instinctively moved back. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Ou Tiannan inspected Jiujiu thoroughly; her tender young face, her delicate skin. A nefarious thought crossed his mind; even if he was to be ruined this time, he was going to make sure Ou Ruoshui suffered in agony for the rest of her life. He was determined to wreck Jin Jiadong’s daughter and make them all endure a living hell.

With these chilling thoughts, Ou Tiannan’s smile grew wider. He took larger strides towards Jiujiu, cornering her against the broken wall.

"Jiujiu, you’re terrified of me, eh? Uncle won’t hurt you. How about Uncle walks you home?" Ou Tiannan said soothingly.

Fear widened Jiujiu’s eyes as she stared at Ou Tiannan. In her innocent mind, he seemed terrifying to her, as if he was about to gobble her whole. Her lips were tightly pressed, she did not dare to utter even a squeak.

Her doe-eyed terror pleased Ou Tiannan. He leaned in once more, reaching out to stroke her cheek, "Jiujiu, come with your Uncle. Your Uncle won’t harm you."

A wave of terror swept over Jiujiu as his large hand enveloped her face, causing her entire body to tremble. Fear made her forget to cry out for help and instead, she bit down hard on her lower lip in a futile attempt to keep herself from breaking down.

The young girl’s skin felt rewarding to him, like the finest silk, compelling Ou Tiannan to close his eyes.

Seeing Ou Tiannan shut his eyes, Jiujiu mustered her courage and bit down hard on his thumb with all her might.

Ou Tiannan was torn from his intoxication with the abrupt pain. Swinging his arm around in anger, he growled, "Let go!" He then attempted to clamp down on Jiujiu’s jaw with his other hand.

Before Ou Tiannan could apply any force, his arm was clamped by a dark shadow that had darted out from behind him.

Ou Tiannan yelped from the sudden pain and loosened his grip, only to see a large wolf-like dog with its teeth tightly gripping his arm. Squirming in pain, he tried to shake off the dog but to no avail.

The dog retreated a few steps back, prepared to launch its second attack, toppling Ou Tiannan to the ground. Then, with a swift twist of its body, the dog bite onto Ou Tiannan’s crotch area.

A shrill cry of pain and fright escaped from Ou Tiannan’s throat. He passed out momentarily from the intense pain before consciousness flooded back, bringing the agony with it.

During the melee, Jiujiu was so terrified that she could only back up against the wall, hands over her mouth, sitting on the ground, watching helplessly. It was only when she saw the dog counterattacking that she recognized it. It was Da Bing!

With a sharp whistle, Da Bing released his grip and sat obediently to one side, watching Ou Tiannan writhing in pain on the ground.

Startled, Jiujiu looked over in the direction of the whistle and saw Gu Lang standing on a pile of dirt dressed in white and black, basked in the golden light of the sunset, standing tall like a god of war.

Gu Lang slowly descended from the mound. As he approached Ou Tiannan, he looked down dispassionately at him lying on the ground in agony. He then leaped over him, went up to Jiujiu, squatted down and in a soft tone said, "It’s alright, you’re safe now, I will walk you home."

With tear-filled eyes, Jiujiu looked at Gu Lang and whimpered, "Uncle, I can’t stand up." She was so terrified her legs were still shaking, and she couldn’t stand up.

Gu Lang frowned, squatted down beside Jiujiu, gestured for Da Bing to drag the eyesore, Ou Tiannan, away.

Jiujiu hugged her knees, still coming to terms with the ordeal she had just experienced. Seeing Gu Lang squat beside her brought some relief.

Gu Lang was not used to conversing with women and did not know how to comfort a terrified girl. So he remained quiet, squatting next to Jiujiu. He decided to wait until she calmed down before deciding the next move. He couldn’t carry her home, she was not a small girl after all.

"Why did you take this route?" Gu Lang asked, seeing that Jiujiu had begun to sob uncontrollably, showing no sign of stopping, he tried to start a conversation.

Jiujiu took out her handkerchief, wiped her tears and said, "This route is a shortcut to my aunt’s house. I always take it.

"This route is desolate, and it’s very dangerous for a person to walk alone."

"My aunt has two kids, so I want to get home as early as possible to help her cook dinner." Jiujiu said softly.

Gu Lang was lost for words again, and just kept squatting there, waiting for Jiujiu’s mood to stabilize.

Da Bing dragged Ou Tiannan behind the dirt pile, and now only his howls of pain could be heard.

Gu Lang watched as Da Bing returned, its posture was full of pride, a smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth.

Earlier in the day, after signaling Zhanguo on Cangnan Mountain, as he prepared to descend the mountain, the dog had appeared out of nowhere and kept following him. From Da Bing’s physique and movements, it was obvious that he was a military dog, likely sent by Zhanguo to follow him.

Faced with the relentless pursuer, Da Bing, he had no option but to take him along.

During Gu Lang’s current assignment, which he carried out alone, he stayed in the dormitory provided by the local police, ready to serve at a moment’s notice.

Bringing Da Bing back drew no unnecessary attention.

He often walked Da Bing around this area. He had come across Jiujiu running errands in this area the day before yesterday and yesterday. Arrow-like when it was time, Da Bing started whimpering, wanting to go outside.

Just as he reached the other side of the dirt pile, he overheard Ou Tiannan’s voice. Realizing the danger, he signaled Da Bing, who dashed out to the rescue.

Once Jiujiu finally stopped crying, Gu Lang asked her, "Are you feeling better? Can you stand up? I will walk you home."

Jiujiu nodded, pressing her lips together. She leaned against the wall for support, and clutching her backpack, she slowly started walking.

Gu Lang and Da Bing followed closely behind.

As for Ou Tiannan, he was later discovered by passersby and taken to the hospital.

Upon seeing a tearful and disheveled Jiujiu, Xiaobei asked in surprise, "Jiujiu, what happened to you?"

Upon seeing Xiaobei, Jiujiu finally broke down and started sobbing louder.

Xiaobei hugged Jiujiu as they entered her house, guided her to the sofa, and started comforting her, "What happened, don’t cry, your aunt is here."

Xiaopang also ran over, hugging Jiujiu’s legs saying, "Don’t cry, Sister Jiujiu, Xiaopang is here to comfort you."

Once Jiujiu had released her pent-up tears in Xiaobei’s arms and recounted the incident, Xiaobei was filled with rage. When she heard about Ou Tiannan touching Jiujiu’s face and getting bitten by Da Bing, she was surprised.

How come Da Bing was there?
