A dark shadow hoisted the man with broken bones into the air.

“W-h-y?”

The "little girl" asked again.

“Help me! Help me!” The man screamed hysterically.

Seeing the man's miserable state, everyone looked at each other in horror, overwhelmed by a powerful sense of fear. They instinctively wanted to back away.

They had intended to help, yes, but only if it didn’t cost them anything.

Now, seeing this spirit of lingering resentment called Yodu actually break someone’s bones, they were afraid they’d be next if they tried to intervene.

The man, realizing no one was stepping forward, turned as pale as a sheet, panic and despair flooding his eyes.

The "little girl" didn’t wait for an answer. She raised her hand, and a massive black energy sphere began to form.

“Someone made me do it!” The man finally looked directly at the "little girl" and shouted:

“Do you remember Aunt Latifa? She forced me! I didn’t want to do it! She told me to put Shān Má juice on your clothes! You should be after her!”

As soon as he said this, everyone froze.

A chill spread through their hearts.

Judging from his words... could it be that this man caused his own child's death?

Augustwood Tournament Institute.

The audience was silent at first, then their eyes flared with fury as they broke into loud curses, hurling profanities.

“Fuck! I knew there was something wrong with that guy!”

“What a beast! He didn’t even spare his own child!”

“Trash! Scum! How can someone like that exist?!”

“Who’s Latifa?” Someone asked, turning to the audience member who earlier said he knew the man.

That person answered, full of righteous indignation: “She’s his current lover. I never imagined the two of them were this vile!”

General Hospital.

Qiao Sang sighed inwardly and looked at Number 98. “What’s Shān Má juice?”

The woman sighed. “

It’s a substance used to attract Poison-Resistant Eel Fish. Normally, wild pet beasts can’t break into homes, but some species have abilities that let them come and go freely, like the Poison-Resistant Eel Fish, which can enter through any place with plumbing.”

“Most likely, that’s what made the little girl fall from the building.”

While watching the situation unfold, the woman also overheard people discussing the girl's cause of death.

Murder through pet beasts... what a monster. Qiao Sang took a deep breath, holding back the urge to order Little Treasure to attack.

As the crowd realized what was going on, they began to curse the man tied up in mid-air.

Qiao Sang knew this was a prime opportunity to gather negative energy but suddenly, she didn’t want Little Treasure to absorb it.

The "little girl" paused after hearing the man’s outburst, then mercilessly launched the shadow orb she held.

“I’m your father!” The man screamed in horror, his voice full of hopelessness.

“Pah! Now you remember you’re a dad?”

“Scumbag!”

“I can't believe I just tried to stop Yodu!”

The crowd spat at him one after another.

Just when the shadow orb was only 0.5 centimeters from hitting the man, a translucent suit of armor appeared over his body.

BOOM!

A deafening blast rang out as the orb struck.

When the dust settled, the man was still intact.

The crowd suddenly realized something and turned toward the hospital entrance.

There, several uniformed police officers and pet beasts appeared.

The man, following their gaze, breathed rapidly. A glimmer of joy lit up his face, as if he’d been saved from the brink of death: “Help me! Please save me!”

In 1st District, wild pet beasts could communicate. An older officer spoke through a megaphone: “Yodu, don’t hurt anyone. Let’s talk this through.”

The "little girl" ignored him. Her eyes glowed violet, and several black energy blades materialized in the air, slashing down toward the man.

Once again, translucent armor shielded him.

The shadow blades struck but did no harm.

“What skill is that?” Qiao Sang frowned.

“Light Armor.” The woman answered.

“A high-level skill of the Psychic type. Yodu couldn’t cut through it. The one who used it must be a general-ranked pet.”

Qiao Sang looked toward the police and focused on a cat-like pet beast in uniform, around 60 centimeters tall, mostly white, with glowing blue eyes.

She glanced at its paw, and sure enough, spotted a lightweight miniaturization bracelet.

That defense skill looked powerful... Just as she was thinking that, the cat-like beast vanished and reappeared before the "little girl."

Then, a bird-type police beast dove from above, swiftly snatching the broken-boned man away.

“Dian Dian.” The cat beast called. Then its body began to expand, stopping only when it reached five meters tall.

“Everyone, please evacuate the area.” The older officer said.

People exchanged looks, then started moving into the hospital.

“Aren’t you leaving?” The woman asked, noticing the girl beside her hadn’t moved.

“I’ll wait a little longer.” Qiao Sang replied, eyes still fixed on where the man had been.

Following her gaze, the woman seemed to understand and patted her on the shoulder:

“Forget it. The police are here.”

“I’m not planning to do anything,” Qiao Sang said calmly.

“I just want to see how the police handle him.”

The woman said no more and walked off.

At that moment, Qiao Sang remembered something. She quickly gave Little Treasure a signal: Go absorb all the negative energy before someone else does.

“Xun xun…”

Little Treasure shook his head, he felt this place was too dangerous.

Qiao Sang’s heart warmed. She smiled and said:

“It’s okay. Lubao is right behind me.”

“Lu.”

Lubao poked her head out from her backpack, chirping in assurance.

“Xun xun…”

Little Treasure pouted, then vanished into stealth mode.

Several others still hadn’t left, so Qiao Sang didn’t stand out.

Meanwhile, Yodu and the general-ranked cat beast had already begun fighting.

Explosions echoed continuously.

After a few quick exchanges, the cat beast slammed its left forepaw onto the ground, sending multicolored beams of light toward the "little girl."

The "little girl" stared blankly at the incoming light. Just before it hit, she closed her eyes and collapsed like a puppet whose strings were cut.

Qiao Sang’s focus remained on the man.

Even from a distance, her superhuman hearing let her pick up his conversation with the police: “Is this your daughter’s body?”

The man’s voice rang out clearly: “She’s already dead! That’s Yodu, not my daughter! Please destroy it!”

“We’ll try not to harm your daughter’s body.” The officer reassured him.

“I told you, my daughter is dead!” The man snapped.

“That thing is Yodu! Just attack it!”

The officer seemed caught off guard by his words and didn’t respond immediately.

Then Qiao Sang noticed, the little girl’s body lay limp on the ground like a corpse.

Yodu had already separated from her… Qiao Sang understood instantly, and a wave of heaviness fell over her. She regretted ordering Little Treasure to shield the man from Yodu’s attack.

“Xun xun~”

Suddenly, Little Treasure’s voice called out beside her.

“You finished absorbing?” Qiao Sang asked.

“Xun xun~”

Little Treasure nodded.

Then he paused, his gaze falling on his beastmaster.

“Xun xun…”

He grew uneasy.

He could smell negative energy… coming from his own beast master.

It was a scent he usually liked but now that it was on her, he found it no longer pleasant.

“Xun xun~”

Little Treasure rubbed her cheek in comfort.

“I’m fine.” Qiao Sang said.

She took a step forward, intending to speak to the police about the man.

But after just two steps, she froze.

Dozens of meters away, the man, thinking himself safe, lay on the ground pouring his heart out to an officer.

The officer said a few words, then walked away.

The man lay there, completely off guard.

A small figure approached from behind, beyond his field of view.

Qiao Sang saw it clearly, it was a little boy, lips purple, face deathly pale, wearing a blood-stained blue hoodie.

“Miss, did you see what happened?” A few police officers walked up to her.

Qiao Sang calmly withdrew her gaze and replied, “Yes. I saw everything.”
