Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Blood Leech Demons

She had dreamed of one day owning such a device.

If the Parthenon Temple failed to heal her legs, then Winged Magic Equipment would be her only chance at moving freely like others.

But such items were prohibitively expensive—something she had never dared to even consider.

She had thought the gift Luke promised would be the Sky Eagles, but never in her wildest dreams did she expect it to be something this extravagant.

Moreover, it wasn’t just any Winged Magic Tool—it was a legendary Elven Wing!

"Luke, no, I can’t accept this! It’s far too valuable!" Hazel’s voice was soft but firm, her hands clenching tightly.

She wanted it desperately—that much was clear.

But she had only known Luke for a day, and her upbringing had instilled in her a strong sense of humility.

She couldn’t justify accepting such a grand gift from someone she had barely met.

Luke, however, had already anticipated this reaction.

"Who said I was giving it to you?" Luke replied smoothly, smirking.

"I’m just lending it to you. Once this mission is over, you have to return it to me."

Hazel’s lips parted slightly.

She looked at Luke, her expression a mixture of relief and hesitation.

"...Borrow?"

"Yep. Strictly business," Luke added with a wink.

Hazel hesitated for a moment longer but finally nodded.

"If it’s just borrowing... then... okay."

But as she said it, her eyes shone with deep emotion.

Perhaps, even though it was only temporary, she could experience what it was like to fly freely, just like everyone else.

Nearby, Elias Vaughn crossed her arms with a haughty expression.

"Luke, why are you being so stingy? It’s just a Winged Magic Tool. What’s the big deal?"

Luke turned to her, his amused expression quickly shifting to one of utter disbelief.

He studied her clear, unbothered eyes and suddenly realized—

She has no idea what this thing is worth.

The tribe she came from didn’t even have basic magical technology, let alone something like this.

For all he knew, she probably thought Winged Magic Equipment was just some fancy accessory.

Luke sighed.

"If you don’t understand, then don’t comment."

With that settled, Luke turned his focus back to the mission.

"Alright," he announced, addressing the group.

"Hazel, you take care of organizing the students. Officer Kirk and I will lead the first formation. Everyone, finish getting familiar with your Sky Eagles—we’re heading out now!"

Under the jealous and admiring gazes of the students and faculty at Arcadia Academy, Luke ascended into the sky, leading the formation of Sky Eagles toward Avalon Lake.

As they flew, Luke glanced through his notes on Lion City.

Located near Avalon Lake, Lion City had a 1,400-year-old history.

Originally, it was a modest village, but over time, it developed into a military base.

It was once humanity’s last line of defense against the Avalon Lake Tribe—a powerful demon faction.

However, during the war with the demon tribe, thousands of battle mages died in a single battle, and countless civilians were massacred.

Now, it had become the backyard of the Avalon Lake Tribe, home to countless demons.

Even though the war had weakened the demon faction, their tribal lord—a monarch-level demon—still lurked somewhere within the ruins.

As Luke relayed this information to the students, Elias seemed particularly fascinated by the history.

She, of course, had no knowledge of such things.

"Teacher Luke," a young girl raised her hand.

Luke turned to her, recognizing her as Hannah Sichen, a student who clearly loved asking questions.

"You said the Totem Serpent is a guardian beast. If it’s so powerful, why doesn’t it just wipe out the Avalon Lake Tribe?"

Luke glanced at her, then smiled.

"It used to," he said. "But now, it only guards Arcadia."

Hannah nodded, satisfied with the answer.

The journey continued, and before long, they could see the outline of Lion City in the distance.

"My training session is simple," Luke announced.

"There are fifteen of you. Split into teams of five. The team that kills the most demons within the time limit gets a reward."

"Elias, Officer Kirk, and I will be watching over you."

But just as he finished speaking—

A sudden ripple disturbed the surface of the nearby stream.

Then—

Dozens of slithering, blood-red creatures erupted from the water, launching directly at them!

Hazel’s eyes narrowed.

"Luke, it’s the Blood Leech Demons!"

Their bodies squirmed unnaturally, their grotesque mouths opening unnervingly wide, lined with rows of razor-sharp teeth.

Most were Servant-class, but a few General-class demons were mixed in as well.

Luke didn’t move immediately.

Instead, he observed how his students reacted.

This was their first test.

"I’m so generous, offering to train with you, and this is how you repay me?" Perola huffed, her cheeks puffing in annoyance.

She constructed a small Kun no Forest barrier around herself, swirling emerald leaves conjured by her magic, ensuring she wouldn’t be caught off guard by any sudden attacks.

Once safe, her glare returned to Luke.

Luke merely shrugged, uninterested in her tantrum. He found her perpetual dramatic flair exasperating.

If she truly is the disciple of the red-clothed Apollo, he mused, then Apollo’s secrecy would’ve been exposed ages ago—she makes so much noise.

A short distance away, a bright-eyed female student named Hannah Simmons waved enthusiastically.

"Teacher, those leech demons we were fighting have been wiped out. Could you send a few more our way? We’re ready to keep practicing!"

Her words drew attention to the lingering remnants of the battle.

Only now did everyone realize that a significant number of leech demons had been levitating in the air—completely immobilized by Luke’s telekinetic grasp.

A few minutes earlier, the students had been fighting with all their might.

Now they saw that it was Luke who had quietly orchestrated the entire scenario, controlling the demons so they could train without risking their lives.

Luke nodded almost absentmindedly, his gaze flickering from Perola back to the students.

With a subtle gesture of his hand, he released three more blood leech demons into the area where Hannah and her team prepared themselves.
