Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Serpent of Arcadia

His dark red fur shimmered under the sun.

A white cloud-like mane circled his neck.

And on his back—

Four massive wings spread out.

If a female bird saw him, she’d probably scream in excitement.

The Magic Capital and Arcadia were about 200 kilometers apart.

At Luke’s speed, he would arrive in half an hour.

But then—

A piercing eagle’s cry filled the sky.

"SCREEEEEECH!!"

Luke’s ears perked up.

His instincts screamed danger.

Before he could react—

Several razor-sharp wind blades shot toward him.

Luke dodged instinctively.

Turning his head, he saw—

A gigantic silver eagle.

Its head alone was the size of a building.

The feathers on its head stood upright, forming a crown-like crest.

Its four golden eyes stared at Luke hungrily.

"Shit... The Silvercrest Overlord!"

Luke cursed.

He had forgotten something important.

The Silvercrest Overlord was the sky’s ruler in Arcadia.

And Luke had just entered its territory.

Before Luke could explain—

"SCREECH!!"

The Silvercrest Overlord flapped its wings.

Dozens of feather blades shot out—

Forming an inescapable net.

Luke gritted his teeth.

He was strong, but not strong enough to fight a Great Monarch-level demon.

"Dammit, you stupid bird!"

Luke’s red eyes flashed—

A white gas film covered his pupils.

Spatial Rhythm – Time Lag!

The feather net slowed down, but the range was still too wide.

Luke’s body was too big to dodge.

So—

He shrunk.

In an instant, Luke reverted to human form.

The Silvercrest Overlord blinked.

...Where did the huge wolf go?

"Hmph. Later, dumb bird!"

Luke smirked, slipping through the feather gaps.

Then—

Gate of Instant!

After three quick teleports, he finally reached Arcadia City.

Luke sighed.

"Man... I ran into the one thing I can’t fight yet."

Just as he was about to head to Arcadia Academy, 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

A thick purple mist filled the air.

Luke froze.

Through the fog, he saw—

A massive skyscraper-sized shadow.

His eyes widened.

Serpent of Arcadia?!

"...Isn’t this a bit too much for a welcome?"

"Oh my god, what the hell is that?!!"

"It’s a snake—a huge snake!!"

Luke had just stepped through the Gate of Instant, landing right in the heart of Arcadia—only to be met with screams of terror.

It was noon, and the streets were packed with people going about their daily routines.

However, his sudden appearance was nothing compared to the mass hysteria that followed.

Because looming above them all was a colossal serpent.

A gargantuan creature that coiled around Arcadia’s tallest skyscraper, its massive black jade scales glistening under the sunlight.

The moment it appeared, panic erupted.

Men, women, and children shrieked in terror, dropping their bags, abandoning their cars, and scrambling in all directions.

"A DEMON—IT’S A DEMON!!!"

"EVERYONE, RUN!!!"

"SOMEBODY CALL THE MILITARY!!!"

Luke sighed, rubbing his temples.

Seriously...

Why does this always happen to me?

He barely had one foot in Arcadia, and he was already neck-deep in trouble.

To him, this wasn’t some city-destroying catastrophe—

But to the people?

A serpent the size of a skyscraper was a sign of the apocalypse.

Luke felt the Serpent of Arcadia’s gaze on him.

Its golden eyes locked onto his form, its tongue flicking the air, sensing something.

It was hostile.

Luke sighed.

"Look," he muttered. "That thing with the Great Azure Dragon was ages ago. Can we not do this today?"

The serpent didn’t respond.

Instead, its massive coiled body tightened around the skyscraper, the very ground beneath them trembling under its sheer weight.

It was agitated.

It could smell it—

The Lone Star Wolf bloodline.

Long ago, the Lone Star Wolf had fought the Great Azure Dragon, the legendary totem of Arcadia.

It had been a battle so fierce that the very landscape had changed.

And in that battle—

The Lone Star Wolf had managed to tear off one of the dragon’s whiskers.

A deep wound. A humiliation.

The Serpent of Arcadia, as a fragment of the Azure Dragon’s will, hadn’t forgotten.

Even after centuries.

And now—

It had stumbled upon a direct descendant of that ancient enemy.

Luke groaned.

"Look, I get it, okay? You’re pissed."

"But that wasn’t me. That was my ancestor."

The Serpent of Arcadia let out a low hiss, its tongue flicking dangerously close to his face.

Luke stared at it unamused.

"Are we seriously going to do this?" he muttered.

He wasn’t afraid.

But he wasn’t an idiot either.

The Serpent of Arcadia was at least a Monarch-level creature.

Luke, even with his current power, wasn’t at the point where he could go head-to-head with it.

The golden eyes of the serpent narrowed.

Luke could feel the hostility rising.

It was debating whether to strike.

Luke sighed.

"Fine, you stubborn overgrown lizard."

He raised his voice.

"I’m the father of the three little wolf cubs—and Tanya Reed’s husband."

The effect was instantaneous.

The snake’s body trembled slightly, its sharp pupils widening.

Its massive head retracted, as if trying to process what it just heard.

Luke’s eyes flickered.

It worked.

The Serpent of Arcadia recognized those names.

It had been watching over those wolf cubs for quite some time.

They had played near the West Lake, and in those moments—

Even a beast as old as time had grown fond of them.

The hostility in its eyes softened.

It tilted its head, lowering its massive form toward Luke.

Then—

A long, slow tap from its tongue against his chest.

It was testing his scent.

Confirming the truth.

Finally—

It withdrew.

A thick purple mist rose around its body—

And when it cleared—

The Serpent of Arcadia was gone.

Luke exhaled.

"For the record—" he muttered.

"If you weren’t babysitting my cubs, I’d be real pissed about that stunt."

As Luke caught his breath, a soft, ethereal voice rang out behind him.

"So, you really came."

Luke froze.

That voice was playful—yet knowing.

He turned—

And saw a woman standing elegantly nearby.

She was tall, her long black hair cascading past her waist.

She wore a blue-and-white cheongsam, her figure graceful and refined.
