Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 356: Not Believing Nerio
Silvanus looked at Nerio. Although he didn’t know why, he suddenly felt that Nerio was... pitiful.
Kirin glanced at Silvanus, at a loss for words. This guy was genuinely full of compassion and forgiveness. Even after nearly being killed twice by this creature’s master, he could still show such a sympathetic expression.
"Nerio, so you really can’t go outside? If that person doesn’t show up, you’ll be trapped here forever?"
Silvanus kept asking.
Nerio cast a sideways glance at him, then suddenly said, "Actually, that person has already appeared."
Silvanus was a little surprised. Just a moment ago, he thought Nerio would be stuck here for a very long time.
"If they’ve already appeared, then that’s great. You’ll be free soon."
He didn’t know how long Nerio had been imprisoned here, but being trapped in one place had to be uncomfortable.
But just as Silvanus thought that, Nerio added, "Aren’t you curious who that person is?"
Silvanus couldn’t help being confused. "Why should I be curious? Oh, right, I keep appearing in this place—do you know how to get me out? Let’s exchange contact info. When you’re finally free, I’ll come find you to hang out."
Hearing that, Nerio pressed his lips together. His body suddenly slid off Kirin’s back.
Kirin hurriedly lifted a paw to catch him, but before he could touch him, Nerio’s fishtail whipped him away. The loud, painful smack even made Silvanus flinch.
At that moment, Nerio had already slid to a stop in front of Silvanus. On his delicate, beautiful face, tears were now rolling down.
Those glistening drops, sparkling like diamonds, transformed into countless tiny pearls the moment they left his face.
Nerio looked at Silvanus, lowered his head, and sobbed.
Silvanus: "..."
Nerio looked truly pitiful, but Silvanus couldn’t even tell whether those tears were real or fake.
Even so, he didn’t want to see someone crying.
In the end, Silvanus still raised his hand and gently patted Nerio’s shoulder. "Don’t cry. You’ll be free soon."
Nerio choked, "Why won’t you ask me who that person is?"
Silvanus: "..."
So he’s crying because of that?
Silvanus was utterly speechless. "Fine, then—who is it?"
As soon as Silvanus finished speaking, Nerio immediately lifted his head. He stared at Silvanus with absolute certainty, raised a hand—now without claws—and pointed straight at him. His fingertip tapped Silvanus’s chest twice as he slowly said, "It’s you."
The space fell into boundless silence.
The corner of Silvanus’s mouth twitched. Looking at Nerio’s happy yet stubborn expression, he had only one thought in his mind:
I wanted to go home.
"What’s wrong? You don’t believe me?" Nerio tilted his chin up, looking at Silvanus.
Silvanus didn’t intend to argue. To him, this was probably just another one of Nerio’s jokes. One way or another, he would eventually leave this place; there was no reason to debate.
He asked, "If that’s the case, then why did you try to kill me?"
Nerio lay down on the icy surface. Hearing that, he rolled over twice, then leaned back to look up at Silvanus—obedient like a little puppy. The gemstone ornaments on his body jingled lightly with every movement, scattering dazzling light beneath the faint sunlight.
He blinked his large eyes innocently. "When did I ever try to kill you? I told you already, I haven’t seen a stranger in a long time, so I just wanted to play with you."
As he spoke, his tail swayed, and his head had already ended up resting on Silvanus’s lap. Grinning brightly, he added, "I really, really looked forward to meeting you. I’ve always been curious about what the person who created me would look like."
Silvanus: "..."
He said bluntly, "You look like a scammer. Your next line is probably something like—because I created you, I have the obligation to take you out of here, right?"
Nerio widened his eyes at that, covering his mouth with one hand. His expression was dramatically fake, as if he couldn’t even be bothered to act appropriately. "How did you guess that? As expected of the one who created me—you read me like a book!"
Silvanus looked down at Nerio clinging to his knee.
He looked about ten to twelve years old. His tail was enormous, while his upper body was even smaller than a normal human’s. Setting aside his behavior, he truly resembled an obedient younger brother.
His wavy white hair faded into deep blue at the tips. Silvanus instinctively lifted his hand, gently brushing it over Nerio’s head.
Right after that, Nerio’s lips curled upward, and his neat teeth began turning into fangs.
Silvanus: "..."
He withdrew his hand, and the two of them stared at each other.
Even Kirin, off to the side, was speechless.
Nerio let out a cold snort. His nails instinctively scraped across the ice, leaving deep gouges and scattered shards behind.
This little beast could definitely claw someone to death.
Vivian is still the cutest, Silvanus thought to himself.
But seeing Nerio looking so dejected, he couldn’t help feeling a bit sorry for him. "All right... Then what do I have to do to get you out of here?"
But the headmaster had said that imprisoning a consciousness was a crime, and Silvanus still wasn’t sure what Nerio’s nature truly was.
He looked at Nerio and waited for an answer.
Nerio nodded earnestly. "You just need to wipe out all the Merfolk. They’re the ones who imprisoned me!"
Silvanus stared at him. "First of all, where did you get the confidence that I alone could fight the entire Merfolk race? And second, you’re asking me to commit a crime."
Just look at that innocent face—he definitely didn’t think there was anything wrong with what he’d said.
Sure enough, Nerio smiled, his eyes curving. "What’s so wrong about it?"
He paused, rolling his eyes before adding, "As long as I’m not cruel to you, isn’t that what matters to you?"
Silvanus shook his head. "Is there no other way?"
"You’re the one who should know that! That’s your responsibility." Nerio frowned.
Silvanus fell silent. He said nothing more, merely waiting to leave this place.
And Nerio didn’t bother looking at him again.
He muttered, "One day, you’ll understand—the world is the truly cruel one. I’m the only one who will never be cruel to you."
No one responded.
Nerio frowned and lifted his head, only to see Kirin tilting his own head at him, speaking softly, "He’s already gone."
After a pause, Kirin suddenly asked, "Is he really the one you’ve always been waiting for?"
Nerio propped his elbows on the ice, resting his chin in both hands. He tilted his head left and right, entertaining himself without answering.
Kirin: "... If you want to torment me, just do it. Don’t hold back."
Nerio froze for a moment, then turned to look at Kirin with open disdain, as if he might spit at him any second.
Kirin: "I’m only worried about you."
"Just admit you’re a lowly masochistic beast trying to seduce your master, for heaven’s sake. I don’t even dare sit on you anymore—you filthy creature." Nerio covered his chest with both hands and slid straight into the lake.
Kirin lifted his head to the sky, then slowly bent down toward the water’s surface and let out a long, silent scream:
You clearly know that’s not what I meant! If you’re so tough, why don’t you grow up for once—stop pretending to be a lovestruck child to trick people! 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Of course, that was only a scream inside Kirin’s mind. Outwardly, he could only open and close his mouth, not daring to disturb even a ripple on the water.
