Chapter 358: Chaos Lands

Walther looked at Silvanus and Nana, each standing on one side, and couldn’t help but frown: "Don’t go near each other or I won’t be able to use teleportation magic."

Silvanus shrugged: "She can’t come near me anyway. Maybe she doesn’t want to go anymore. You can just teleport me alone, teacher."

Nana secretly clenched her teeth.

Walther then said, "On this trip, the two of you are both inexperienced students. You need to know how to protect each other, support each other, and move forward together. You’re only coming along as observers—Hunters won’t make you do anything too dangerous unless essential, understood?"

Silvanus and Nana nodded at the same time: "I understand."

Nana couldn’t help glancing at Silvanus, only to find that he was merely staring straight ahead, not looking at her at all.

Nana tightened her fist; no matter how she looked at it, Silvanus’s attitude was absolutely infuriating.

He was just a commoner—how could he carry himself with that kind of attitude? Nana truly wanted to drag Silvanus back, rip out his tongue, and force him to kneel, just to see if he could still keep acting like that.

Silvanus had no idea what Nana was thinking.

Walther had already begun casting the spell; blinding light enveloped them, and in an instant, they vanished from the spot.

Matthew and Ariana watched the scene unfold from afar.

Ariana murmured, "I really want to go on missions with Silvanus, too. When will we even make it to the second year?"

Matthew frowned slightly. He didn’t answer Ariana, only stared at the empty ground where Silvanus and Nana had just stood.

That mysterious voice echoed once again from deep within his mind: "What a pity. If you had gotten stronger a bit faster, the one going with Silvanus would’ve been you, not that annoying noble girl." The voice chuckled. "Clearly, you and Silvanus are the ones who are most alike, right?"

Matthew’s nails dug into his skin as he replied coldly, "Then you’d better make me stronger faster."

The mysterious voice chuckled again as if in agreement.

Teleportation magic was always fast, but the sensation it brought wasn’t always pleasant.

Nana and Silvanus only felt their heads spinning, as though they were lumps of dough endlessly kneaded around. When they finally stopped, Silvanus’s legs were nearly stiff as he struggled not to fall headfirst onto the ground. He conveniently lifted a hand to steady Nana as well.

Nana looked at Silvanus in slight surprise before coldly shaking off his hand. At that moment, a deep voice slowly echoed out.

"Greetings, students Silvanus and Nana."

The man who stood before them looked young, with blue eyes and silver hair, dressed in a cloak of vivid red embroidered with radiant sun motifs.

He smiled at Silvanus and Nana before speaking softly: "I am Sylus, the coordinator for this round of supplementary members. You may also consider me your temporary instructor."

Silvanus looked past Sylus. Behind him was a group of tall, imposing figures dressed in black, their aura completely different from theirs.

And next to that black-clad group was another team of three people, their ages close to Silvanus and Nana’s.

Among them, however, was a girl who stood out dazzlingly.

She, too, had shimmering silver hair and the same blue eyes as Sylus.

Sensing Silvanus’s gaze, she looked back for a moment, then smiled and nodded before slowly looking away.

Silvanus couldn’t help retracting his gaze.

Nana, seeing him stare at the girl, couldn’t help clicking her tongue and letting out a cold laugh.

"Mira is the Saintess. Give it up."

Silvanus was slightly surprised—so that girl was the Saintess.

Of course, Silvanus’s life had been poor, but he still knew about the Church. They often did charity work in many regions. A group from the Church had even come to do charity work at the orphanage where he once lived.

"You’re the one who shouldn’t overthink things, Nana. I thought your brain was only filled with fighting, but I guess you actually know stuff like this." Silvanus chuckled.

Nana’s face flushed. She flicked her hand, and light immediately curved like a gleaming blade that sliced toward Silvanus.

Silvanus let out an "oh," leaping back at once to dodge her attack: "The moment we’re out of the school grounds, you’re like a tiger finally released into the wild, huh?"

Nana’s voice was icy: "And you lose all your calm the moment you’re outside the academy, don’t you?"

Silvanus laughed at that, his eyes narrowing. In an instant, he appeared behind Nana and flicked a lock of her hair.

Nana jolted in shock. At that moment, Silvanus said, "You think you’re the only one who finds others annoying? Every time you block my way, I really want to kick you off to the side."

"You!" Nana was so furious she couldn’t speak.

"Get lost!" Nana yanked her hair back. If Sylus weren’t here, she would have killed Silvanus already.

She was the heir of House Aurellan—no one dared speak to her like that.

Other men, regardless of what they thought inside, could only show obedience on the surface.

Only Silvanus, a mere commoner, kept provoking her time and time again!

Sylus, standing to the side, saw all the undercurrents clearly, but simply turned away and said, "Follow me so you don’t fall behind. This isn’t a sightseeing trip."

"Yes, sir."

Silvanus replied loudly and hopped after Sylus. Nana clenched her fists and quickly followed, but in the end couldn’t help muttering, "Silvanus, you’re really petty."

Silvanus ignored her completely, his attention drifting toward Mira and the two people beside her.

Rather than calling them teammates, the way those two behaved toward Mira was almost reverent.

They wore white cloaks, and Mira too wore a white cloak—but with golden embroidery tracing along the edges, clearly marking her status as different.

At this moment, Nana and Silvanus were also wearing cloaks—the uniform of Lumina.

Seeing them approach, Mira smiled gently and said, "Hello, I’m Mira. These are Alex and John. It’s a pleasure to meet you."

Silvanus nodded. "I’m Silvanus."

Nana nodded without saying a word; naturally, she didn’t feel the need to introduce herself.

Faced with Nana’s attitude, Mira still showed no reaction.

At that moment, a tall, bald man in a black cloak approached. A long scar ran from his forehead down to his left eye, giving him an even more intimidating appearance, though his voice was calm and steady: "Is everyone here? We can depart now." After a brief pause, he continued, "Let me make this clear: we’re here to carry out a mission. We are not responsible for your survival. So you’d better stay with the group and don’t wander off."

At the same time, Silvanus took the chance to observe the surroundings. It was a desolate land with almost no tall trees, the ground covered in a dull, ashen gray, broken only by scattered jagged rock formations.

And farther out, stretching endlessly, was a massive, dense mass of gray fog—so vast that its end couldn’t be seen.

The scarred man led the group straight toward that gray mist.

Based on what Silvanus had been studying recently, he immediately recognized this place.

This was the edge of The Chaos Lands.
