Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 420: Rumors
Nick was flying at the fastest speed of his life. As a result, when Silvanus grabbed him, the inertia nearly sent him flying off.
He wanted to attack, but when he realized they were all Human, he only grimaced and growled, "I told you to run. Why did you suddenly grab me, you bastard!"
Silvanus looked at the young man before him, with brown hair and eyes like a cat’s, and calmly asked, "What’s ahead?"
Nick almost tried to shake Silvanus’s hand off at once, but he could not. Sensing the strength of the man in front of him, he could only say, "Skyraptors. A flock of Skyraptors is flying this way!"
Hearing this, Silvanus paused briefly, then said, "Move."
Nick only managed to hear that single word. The next moment, his entire body was dragged along. The wind was so violent that it felt like his face was being twisted out of shape.
He opened his mouth to scream, but the rushing wind dried his throat instantly.
At the same time, long, piercing screeches echoed over the cliffs.
A flock of Skyraptors, known as the lords of the sky, were powerful, bloodthirsty predators with massive wings. What was even more striking, however, was their anatomy.
Their entire bodies seemed to consist of little more than a head. Their sharp beaks split open at the corners, stretching all the way back, making it difficult to tell where their stomachs were located at all.
Skyraptors hunted not only in the air but also on the ground. When they moved in a flock like this, they were unquestionably on the hunt.
And these young Humans were no different from a delicious feast, their enticing scent waiting to be devoured.
"We can’t outrun them," Silvanus said in a low voice.
Nick swallowed a mouthful of wind. "As long as we get out of the Hazard Zone. This place is already near the edge of it!"
Nick could not help feeling a surge of excitement. Even though he did not know who Silvanus was, his flying speed was truly terrifying. They were about to catch up to the others, and their chances of escaping this place were extremely high.
But at that very moment, a shadow suddenly descended over them.
The sunlight was completely blotted out by enormous wings.
It streaked past like a bullet, carrying a violent gale that seemed ready to sweep all of them away.
In the next instant, it stopped in front of them. Brown, leathery wings lined with gray down spread wide. It opened its massive mouth, nearly ten meters across, and let out a deafening roar. The sheer force of the wind threatened to send them flying, forcing them to raise layer after layer of barriers just to block the sound and the terrifying gale.
Looking back, more dark shapes were rushing toward them. They spread out with clear coordination, quickly surrounding these helpless Humans.
Nick stared wide-eyed at the scene, rolling his eyes back as if he were about to faint on the spot.
The next moment, he burst into loud sobs. "I don’t want to die here. I can’t! I’m still so young!!!"
Silvanus could not help but cover Nick’s mouth and then fling him aside.
Nick floated in midair, then jolted upright. His eyes sparkled as he looked at Silvanus. "Brother, even though we didn’t know each other before, meeting at the moment of death must be fate. In the next life, we’ll be brothers!"
As soon as Nick finished speaking, his team—including five other people—immediately rushed over and hugged him. The whole group opened their mouths and wailed together.
"Big Bro, in the next life we’ll still be a team!"
Nick wiped his tears. "That’s right, sob, sob, sob."
"I even made a date with Ivy after finishing this mission. I spent so many gold coins just to get that chance, sob, sob, sob."
Nick: "...Didn’t I tell you Ivy only scams money, and you still gave her gold?"
"Big Bro, actually, the girl you had your eye on last time liked you too, but everyone felt you couldn’t belong to just one person, so we told her that you don’t like girls."
Nick: "...Get lost, you bastards!"
Matthew frowned at the noisy chaos unfolding in front of him. Especially when he saw Silvanus laughing happily at their conversation, his brows knit even tighter. A bunch of idiots, loud and annoying—yet Silvanus liked this sort of thing.
Ariana, off to the side, could not help but laugh as well.
Nick looked at Ariana’s sweet, pretty face, then thought of what his juniors had just said. He scratched his head, his expression irritated, though in truth he was mortified to death.
A beautiful girl was right in front of him. Unfortunately, they were all about to die.
Thinking of this, Nick’s emotions surged again, and he no longer had the heart to scold his teammates.
A slightly short, burly guy in the group could not help looking toward Ariana. "We’re all about to die, and you can still laugh..."
Ariana lifted her chin. "With Silvanus here, we won’t die."
Almost instinctively, everyone looked toward the golden-haired young man in their group.
They could not help feeling doubtful, yet the Skyraptors were already closing in. No matter how much they had cried earlier, now they could only fight. Even if they were going to die, they could not just lie there and wait for it...
But at that very moment, they suddenly felt the surrounding energy gathering at an unbelievable speed, and the center of it was none other than Silvanus.
He had already flown high into the air. One hand was raised, and enormous spheres of energy began to condense above him, spinning relentlessly.
The Skyraptors seemed to sense the danger as well. They spread their wings wide, screeching in provocation, their massive beaks swaying, and then they lunged forward!
But Silvanus was faster.
"Shattering Starfall!"
He let out a low roar, and in the next instant, the energy spheres burst outward and rained down.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The moment they collided, a series of frenzied explosions erupted, shaking the very space itself and completely blotting out all visibility.
Piercing shrieks rang out one after another.
Some Skyraptors were blown apart on the spot, shattered into pieces that scattered and fell toward the forest below.
After a brief but violent chaos, the bloodthirsty Skyraptors could only retreat, ending as abruptly as if it had all been a dream.
Nick and the others had already steeled themselves for death, but—
This was absurd! That had been an entire flock of Skyraptors!
Looking at Silvanus again, he was even wearing a Lumina cloak, the kind only second-year students wore to avoid being mistaken for others.
Just then, one of Nick’s juniors suddenly stepped closer and whispered something to him.
Nick’s eyes widened.
So Silvanus was that publicly praised outstanding student. There was even a story circulating within Lumina that on the very first day he enrolled, he had dealt with an upperclassman noble who dared to bully him. In the blink of an eye, a commoner had risen to become the school’s top dog. Whether noble or commoner, anyone who saw him had to bow twice before being allowed to pass.
During the great flood some time ago, he and the descendant of the Aurellan family had worked together to stabilize the seabed. His achievements were nothing short of legendary. It was said that although he was only a second-year student, he had already become the "king" of Lumina. Whenever he went out, he was accompanied by ten attendants, men and women alike competing to confess their feelings to him.
Yet because of his early achievements, Silvanus was said to be extraordinarily arrogant, looking down on everyone, usually walking with his nose in the air.
Who would have thought they would actually get the chance to witness such a remarkable figure with their own eyes?!
