The Sentinels lurking in the shadows seemed to find Nick's very existence unbearably irritating.

Faint rustling sounds echoed without end, until finally—

"Boom!"

A thunderous shock rang out. Immediately after, a gigantic figure suddenly appeared, as if it had dropped straight down from midair.

An iron Sentinel, like a knight of light. It swung the greatsword in its hand. It had no eyes, yet Nick could clearly feel that it was staring right at him.

Watching this scene, Silvanus could not help but raise an eyebrow.

Judging by the red rays earlier, there was definitely a three-star Sentinel here. Yet in the end, only a five-star Sentinel appeared. Perhaps the higher-tier Sentinels were under some kind of suppression and could not come out.

The five-star Sentinel glanced at Silvanus, then tilted its head slightly in a rather foolish manner, as if confused by Silvanus's identity. It seemed it was not intelligent enough to immediately tell whether Hobbit blood flowed through Silvanus's veins.

At this moment, blood had already seeped into the cracks. Calling it blood was hardly accurate. It was more like a mass of black, viscous slime, utterly meaningless.

Meanwhile, the five-star Sentinel drew closer and closer.

Silvanus frowned. That slime was probably not recognized as blood at all, because the gate showed no reaction whatsoever.

He could not help clenching his fist, his emotions surging.

If he were currently in the form of a Hobbit, everything would surely be much easier.

Just as that thought crossed Silvanus's mind, a sharp pain tore through his bones.

Immediately after, a faint flash of light appeared.

Nick watched as the Sentinel that had been aggressively striding toward them suddenly halted, even bending down and retreating a step. He could not help but feel surprised. Then he lifted his chin, brimming with joy, and said, "Silvanus, look! It's scared! I barely even moved my limbs, and this thing already backed off. It's nothing but a big, empty shell!"

Nick spoke cheerfully, hopping about nonstop, until he suddenly bumped into something.

He gasped in shock, his body wobbling as he fell backward. When he saw something on the ground wriggling nonstop, he grew even more terrified. "Silvanus!"

Nick hurried forward and yanked open Silvanus's cloak, immediately revealing the body Silvanus had been hiding beneath it.

A child only about six or seven years old. Those clear, translucent green eyes and the striking golden hair stood out vividly. From the contours of his face, one could still recognize that this was Silvanus.

But Silvanus… why had Silvanus suddenly shrunk?! 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Nick's gaze could not help falling on Silvanus's slightly pointed ears. Combined with the Sentinel's earlier reaction, it seemed he had already guessed something!

As expected of the protagonist. Of course there had to be countless bloodlines waiting to awaken!

Silvanus had no idea about the chaotic thoughts racing through Nick's mind. He looked at Nick with a cold expression. "Did you just kick me?"

Normally, Silvanus would probably look quite intimidating. But with that small face and those soft cheeks, Nick felt his heart melt. Was this what it felt like to have a kid?!

He immediately wrapped Silvanus up in his cloak and lifted him into his arms. Silvanus frowned and struggled. "Put me down."

Nick wore an innocent expression. "Didn't you want to open the gate? With your current height, you'll definitely need my help."

Silvanus paused for a moment, suddenly feeling that Nick had become extremely annoying.

However, he did not show much emotion. He simply opened his palm, and a sharp piece of metal instantly appeared as a surge of golden matter gathered together.

Without the slightest hesitation, Silvanus cut across his own palm. Fresh blood immediately gushed out, soaking into the strange patterns before them.

A burst of light flared. Before Nick could react to anything, the ground beneath his feet suddenly vanished. In the next instant, his entire body was swept into a violent vortex!

Nick could only clutch Silvanus tightly and scream.

Silvanus covered his ears with both hands, his face utterly expressionless as he watched the rolling darkness envelop them.

They were almost in free fall. Soon after, a sound rang out as if a layer of clouds had been pierced. In the blink of an eye, the sky before Nick's eyes turned into a brilliant brownish-red tinged with pink. Layer after layer of wind tore past their bodies, carrying waves of strange heat. He looked down and could only see that the land below was also a barren brownish-red. The only things that existed were sparse clumps of grass, dirt, and stones, with a few scattered bones visible here and there.

Only by looking far into the distance could they make out faint silhouettes, hoping that those truly were the citadel.

As for the area before them now, it was nothing else, simply a vast, empty wasteland.

Nick held Silvanus tightly. With one hand lowering, the wind immediately rose to support them, allowing them to land safely.

Nick let out a quiet sigh of relief. Who would have thought that the moment he turned his head, he would see Silvanus staring straight at him. He hurriedly set Silvanus down and forced a dry laugh. "It was an emergency, hahaha. Besides, your current condition really isn't very convenient."

Silvanus felt the same way.

However, there was no need to worry. Nick saw Silvanus lift his hand, and in the blink of an eye, a tiny set of clothes appeared in his palm.

Nick could not help but be surprised. "Did you even prepare for today in advance?"

Silvanus shook his head. "A friend made these for me." This was precisely the outfit Drake had sewn for Silvanus.

Nick looked at the rough stitching and felt that this friend was not particularly skilled. Still, thanks to this friend, Silvanus did not have to remain naked.

Nick smiled as he looked at Silvanus and stretched out his hand. "Come on, let's go."

Silvanus glanced at Nick's hand, then looked back at Nick.

Nick awkwardly withdrew his hand and scratched his head.

Alright, Silvanus had only shrunk in size, not truly become a child. Even so, seeing Silvanus so small made Nick's paternal instincts overflow, and he worried Silvanus might get lost.

Silvanus was obviously unaware of Nick's excessive thoughts. He simply walked ahead at an unhurried pace.

And now, let us explore the Land of Darkness.

This was a place that gave birth to powerful dark creatures with high intelligence, the most representative being Undead mages and Demons.

The Undead mages ruled over the Undead Sea, a sea-like region formed from countless skeletons without end. You could imagine just how vast it was by the fact that people called it a sea.

With such "resources," the Undead mages were unrivaled within their own territory.

As for the Demons, they are a bloodthirsty race, greedy for fresh blood and power. They possess a far clearer hierarchical system, with seventy-two different citadels scattered across the Land of Darkness. The regions outside the citadels are known as free zones, where one may move about freely and hunt or kill each other at will. However, once someone steps into a citadel, they must abide by the fixed rules established by that city lord.

At present, not every citadel is bustling with activity. The most prominent examples are Citadel No. 2, whose city lord is Marax, a citadel infamous for its boundless indulgent and licentious activities, and Citadel No. 1, ruled by Asmoday, which is known for its extensive trade.

The citadels all maintain peace on the outside and do not encroach upon one another.

Compared to what humans imagine, the power structure of the Land of Darkness is, in fact, far more peaceful than that of the Land of Light.

This is because these races are born powerful. They have no need to fear any threats to themselves. Instead, it is others who fear that they will spread disaster.

As for Silvanus, his purpose in coming here was very simple. He wanted to search for Degenerate.

If they were already here, then Silvanus would not mind collecting them to increase his own power.

More importantly, since arriving in this place, Silvanus had sensed that the earring, which had long remained silent, was finally showing a faint sign of activity.

Since he himself had awakened, he wondered whether the others had awakened as well.

He remembered that in the past, he had once sketched out a story about the fundamental relationships between the gods he created. He could not help but wonder whether that story might also apply in this place.
