At last, sparse forests appeared on both sides within their field of vision. At the very least, they could find a place to take shelter. Silvanus headed straight into the woods.

He looked toward Nick and said, "Go scout the citadel in the distance. If there's any danger, retreat immediately."

Nick had not expected to be assigned a task. He immediately brought his hands together and placed them against his forehead, speaking loudly, "I will definitely bring back crucial information!"

With that, he took off at once.

That's right. Even humans like them were not suppressed in this place, so they could still use magic and still fly.

It was just that Silvanus was currently a Hobbit, so he could not fly.

He wanted to recapture the feeling from when he had switched from Undead to Hobbit. However, he felt nothing at all. Clearly, before this, everything had changed with just a single thought from him.

Perhaps he needed to remain in the Hobbit state for a period of time before he could transform again. In any case, there were still far too many things for him to explore.

Meanwhile, because he was flying at high speed, Nick soon managed to see the true appearance of the distant citadel.

The first thing that came into view was an endless stretch of pitch-black stone walls. Atop the walls were clusters of cold, jagged spikes.

The massive main gate was tightly shut. Beneath it was a smaller door large enough for ordinary people and goods to pass through.

There were demons guarding and inspecting on both sides of the gate. Moreover, anyone who wished to enter had to hand over five gold coins.

As for where he and Silvanus were supposed to get gold coins right now, they were utterly penniless. Yet staying outside like this was not a good idea either. They needed food, and they had not bathed in a long time. Alright, that was two years. Truly terrifying, even though time inside the Chaosland was different from the outside.

But the truth was, they had gone two years without bathing.

Nick secretly thought about robbing someone, but remembering Silvanus's instructions, he did not dare do anything. He only hurried back, afraid of being discovered.

After all, the guards at the gate had already cast their gazes toward him more than once, making him feel as though even his invisibility magic was losing its effect.

As expected of demons. Even an ordinary demon possessed senses so sharp they were frightening.

The moment Nick returned, he saw Silvanus sitting on the black cloak, his expression thoughtful. Hearing the movement, he raised his head and met Nick's eyes.

Nick quietly pressed a hand to his chest and hurried to report, "The citadel ahead is called Asmoday's Citadel. A lot of people are going in and out, but every entry costs five gold coins. If we go inside, we'll definitely spend a lot of coins on trading as well…"

But right now, it was obvious that they did not have a single coin on them.

Just then, Silvanus suddenly snapped his fingers. At the same moment, a gold coin abruptly leapt up and shot straight into Nick's palm. Nick fumbled and caught the coin, his eyes instantly shining.

After that, he stared in disbelief as Silvanus's hand glowed and gold coins were created just like that.

"Why do Hobbits have such an overpowered ability like this? There would definitely be inflation in their era!" Nick exclaimed loudly.

Hearing this, the corner of Silvanus's lips twitched slightly as he muttered, "Perhaps in their era, they didn't use gold coins for trade."

Nick was already used to Silvanus treating everything seriously and analyzing it, even if it might have just been a joke.

He clutched the pile of gold in his hands, cherishing it as he kissed the coins affectionately, and said happily, "We're rich! Let's go, Silvanus, I'm starving!"

Obviously, he no longer needed to eat, but food did not only bring the feeling of being full, it also brought happiness. Besides, he still clearly remembered wanting to take Silvanus out for a drink.

But thinking about it again, with Silvanus like this now, he probably would not be able to drink beer.

Just then, Silvanus suddenly raised both hands. Nick was a bit confused, but Silvanus said, "Use your aura to cover me."

At the very least, the two of them needed to carry some Undead scent. Otherwise, Silvanus could very well become easy prey for demons.

After all, everyone knew that when demons got hungry, they could even eat their own kind, let alone something as delicious as a Hobbit.

Nick immediately picked up Silvanus and wrapped him tightly in his cloak. The large hood left only a bit of Silvanus's chin exposed.

Nick immediately said cheerfully, "Let's go!"

With that, he shot off like an arrow.

At this moment, there were still many demons outside the citadel, and naturally, Nick could not cut in line.

Just look at the demons in front of them. Their minimum height was two meters. Or, if they were short, they were very short. Their appearances were all ferocious and ugly. Especially when those savage looks were mixed with human features, they seemed even more terrifying in Nick's eyes.

It was said that only high-ranking demons could obtain forms similar to humans. However, those high-ranking demons sometimes did not like maintaining human shapes at all, because to them, massive fangs, enormous bodies, and spikes covering their forms were the true manifestations of strength.

The guard's eyes, as large as bronze bells, swept over Nick. He snorted, exhaling a breath thick with mist, then took the coins and signaled Nick to pass with a glance.

Nick quietly let out a breath and hurried inside.

The scene before his eyes made him pause at once.

Even though they had only just entered the citadel, they could already see bustling groups of merchants. There were stalls selling meat, fruits, or simply everyday goods. Yet their appearances were anything but ordinary. After all, Nick was certain he had never seen fruit with fangs before.

The taverns were extremely noisy as well. Nick had guessed right—there really was beer here!

Just then, his sleeve was tugged lightly. Silvanus said in a low voice, "Let's find a place to stay first."

Naturally, there were inns here as well.

Perhaps because of their undead aura, everything went very smoothly.

Nick brought Silvanus back to their room, not noticing the gazes tracking them.

The moment they entered the room, Nick immediately collapsed onto the floor. He kept rolling back and forth, nearly kissing the floor.

He missed it so much—so much, damn it. How long had it been since he'd last seen a floor?!

The architecture here was not backward at all. Instead, it carried a strange, classical feel, dominated by Gothic-style structures, while the interiors were decorated in a slightly vintage style.

After all, they even had a bathtub! Nick looked at Silvanus and quickly said, "I'll go buy some clothes. You wait here!"

He was truly treating Silvanus like a child as he reminded him.

Silvanus nodded. He did not pay Nick much attention and simply looked out the window.

They were on the second floor, and from here, they could see a bit of the scenery below.

Watching Nick's figure quickly disappear into the distance, Silvanus suddenly raised his hand and touched his earring lightly. A faint light flickered, yet there was still no response.

Just then, a loud knock suddenly rang out on the door, so forceful it felt as if the door might be pierced through at any moment.

Silvanus looked coldly toward the door. Nick clearly had not returned yet, so who was knocking?
