Chapter 24: Village 0024 needs calm_1

In the countryside, I wonder what the young master sees in this place.

But this area isn’t really her turf, so she can’t be bothered with what others do.

Just as she was about to open the door and enter, Ruffy’s voice came drifting over again, “I heard your sister came looking for you? A long-lost family member?”

New novel 𝓬hapters are published on freёwebnoѵel.com.

Ellen Young: “Yeah.”

She opened the door and was about to go in when she saw Ruffy, noticing she was going to shut the door, chuckled, “At least I’m considered a future business partner, won’t you invite me in for a sit?”

Ellen Young frowned slightly, “Suit yourself.”

She had things to attend to anyway.

The picket fence gate was unlatched, and with workers still toiling away inside, Ellen Young placed the paperwork back in the bedroom., Upon exiting, she saw Ruffy sitting in the pavilion.

The pavilion had already been set with stone table and benches, elegant and tranquil. He was sitting there fitting in quite well, actually elevating the grace of the surroundings with his presence.

He propped up his head, surveying the area with a curious gaze, “I really can’t see what’s so good about this place, it’s so inconvenient to buy anything.”

Ellen Young didn’t respond.

Ruffy continued, “Not only has your family come looking for you, but your sister is a superstar, and I heard you’ve even agreed to do a program with her. Are you thinking of entering the entertainment industry?”

Ellen Young looked up at him with a calm expression, “Has anyone ever told you that you talk too much?”

Ruffy laughed again, his handsome face breaking into a slightly rakish smile, “I don’t have much to say to others, but I do find myself talking quite a bit with you. If you don’t like talking and I don’t speak up, it would be suffocating, right? So, do you think I talk too much?”

Seeing the girl not too keen on engaging and turning her head away, Ruffy let out a snicker, “Others beg me to say a word and I don’t indulge them, yet here you are, finding fault.”

But what could he do? He liked her style.

It’s not that he would like this personality in someone else; it’s just that Ellen Young was too clever.

Approaching noon, Ellen Young was about to cook, but he showed no signs of leaving.

Though she didn’t like people getting too close, she wasn’t the type to send someone away without good reason.

After all, his family could be a potential business partner in the future.

The village chief brought a sea fish to Ellen Young, standing outside the picket fence and calling out, “Ellen, I bought you two fish from the town market, the kind without bones, easy to eat without getting caught in your throat, take them inside quickly.”

Ellen Young opened the door, saw the chief’s fish, and was about to take out money from her pocket.

The village chief stopped her as soon as he saw her move, stuffing the plastic bag with fish into her hands, “No, no, no, it’s just a couple of fish, not worth much money. You eat them; don’t make me angry, alright?”

Ellen Young, upon hearing this, was silent for a moment before taking the fish, “Thank you, Grandpa Chief.”

The village chief waved his hand dismissively, “Don’t mention it, why so formal, we’re all from the same village.”

While talking, he noticed an unusual shadow inside the house, and upon closer inspection, he saw a man dressed in exquisite fashion standing there, his face wearing a smile of deep meaning and his eyes sparkling, as if he were illuminated from within.

The village chief’s eyes brightened.

“Ellen, isn’t this the man I saw yesterday…”

Seeing him suddenly appearing in Ellen Young’s home, the chief seemed to come to a sudden realization.

He glanced at Ellen Young meaningfully, and before she could explain, he said, “I’ve brought your things, so I’ll head back now. See you.”

Ellen Young: “…”

The village chief seemed to have misunderstood something, yet it wasn’t appropriate for her to explain Ruffy’s identity.

The village needed peace, and she didn’t want to be the talk of the town.
