Becoming The Strongest Using My Would-You-Rather System!-Chapter 37 - SSS-rank Affinity
Theo stared at the transparent screen in shock.
His arms slowly moved away from the back of his head, pushing himself upright instead.
"...What?" he said again.
He couldn’t possibly comprehend what was going on as he stared at the options in front of him.
"What’s with these insane options?!"
’A billion dollars?’ he thought. ’Such an insane number could last for generations!’
It wouldn’t be wrong to say he’d instantly become one of the richest people on the planet, allowing him to buy anything and everything he wants.
’Whether it’s cultivation resources, equipment, or even protection,’ he thought. ’All of it could help me immensely.’
A wide smile appeared on his face as his gaze went up to the second option.
’A real obsidian-rank technique for my lightning affinity,’ he thought, heart pounding. ’Who knows how powerful such a technique would be...’
The obsidian core came right after diamond and was the absolute peak stage a core could reach.
It was a stage only available for those who had SSS-rank affinities, which is why there were only a handful of them in each country.
’Because there’s only such a small number of them, techniques like that are practically unfindable.’
Letting out a deep breath, Theo forced himself to calm down again as there was still one option left.
Finally, his gaze fell on the first option again.
It was by far something outside of expectations and even reality for all he knew.
’It’s offering me the chance to awaken another SSS-rank affinity?’
Theo didn’t even know what to say.
For all he knew, no one had ever awakened another affinity once they reached bronze core.
If he went with that option... he’d become the first and only person to have that.
’I can’t choose between affinities like last time,’ he thought. ’But even then... a second affinity would double my cultivation speed. That’s already insane, no matter what I get.’
Theo fell silent for a moment, his heart pounding.
The system had never offered him such good choices before.
Each of them was incredibly valuable in their own way but... Theo didn’t have to think that long about his choice.
’A billion dollars would be nice, sure,’ he thought. ’But I still can’t buy the other two options with it.’
That alone made it the least valuable in his eyes.
After all, why waste an opportunity like this on something that he could eventually obtain himself?
’It’s the same for the technique,’ he thought, chewing on his cheek. ’Despite how much I want it, it’s still out there in the world somewhere.’
He paused for a moment. ’If I become strong enough, I might find or even make one myself.’
Finally, the last option.
The difference compared to the other two options was easy to tell.
’Something that’s completely unobtainable.’
Theo’s expression grew more serious.
’I can’t work towards it, or find it later,’ he thought hesitantly. ’If I don’t take it now... my chance is gone.’
But—
There was just one problem.
’What if my core can’t handle it?’
No one else had ever awakened an affinity at bronze core, and usually that’s for a reason.
Theo fell silent for a moment, his gaze fixed on the options. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Then, he reached out to the holographic screen.
’I guess I’ll just have to see how risky it is,’ he thought, pressing the first option.
As the holographic screen flickered, all the text was replaced by only two lines.
[Choice made.]
[Granting SSS-rank affinity now...]
’An opportunity to get an extra affinity,’ Theo paused, preparing himself. ’I’d be an idiot if I tossed it away.’
He closed his eyes, focusing deep inside his core.
His breathing slowed down almost immediately as a faint tension crept into his body.
’Stay calm,’ he thought. ’Everything will be fine.’
Within his newly formed bronze core, a dense mass of yellow lightning mana swirled calmly at the center.
Just then, Theo felt a strange feeling go through his core.
Suddenly, a small blue dot appeared beside the yellow lightning mass.
At first, it was nothing but a small speck pulsing faint blue light.
Theo held his breath, instantly focusing on it.
’That’s it,’ he thought. ’But what affinity is blue?’
Before he could think about it, something changed.
The blue dot started pulsing faster, steadily growing in size each time it did.
Theo frowned slightly.
He’d expected violent pain, shock, or even rejection from the affinity itself.
But there was nothing like that.
The blue sphere grew calmly until it matched the yellow lightning mass.
’Was that... it?’
Theo’s head tilted slightly, as if in disbelief.
For a brief moment, nothing happened.
Suddenly, the blue mass pulsed brightly.
Theo’s eyes snapped open as a wave of blue mana spread through his body.
"—!"
That’s when he saw it.
Water floated all around him, thousands of droplets across a hundred yards.
It didn’t fall or drip like normal water. Instead, it remained suspended in the air as if protecting him.
Theo’s eyes widened as he looked around.
’Is this my affinity?’
He pushed himself off the ground, his hand reaching for one of the water bubbles.
As he touched it, the air around him shifted.
A crushing pressure slammed down instantly, forcing Theo’s body lower.
The ground beneath him flattened, grass bending and sinking as if pressed by an unseen weight. Nearby trees cracked and were driven into the earth within seconds.
"Mutated," he muttered with much difficulty. "This affinity is mutated too!"
Just then, a transparent panel popped up in front of him.
[Congratulations! Host has successfully awakened SSS-rank Leviathan’s Water affinity.]
Theo let out a shaky breath as the pressure suddenly vanished.
The floating water around him stopped swirling briefly before collapsing, raining down like ordinary water.
"Amazing," he mumbled, a wide grin slowly forming on his face. "For a random affinity, I don’t think I could’ve asked for something better."
Not only did this double his cultivation speed. The affinity itself worked perfectly with his lightning and covered some of his weaknesses in defense.
Theo clenched his fist, letting out a soft chuckle.
’I suddenly feel like I can’t wait for the duel with David anymore.’
