Chapter 129: End of the auction.

The Archmage could not bear it anymore and got up from the couch. The three other people inside the booth watched as he went and stood in front of the black glass, staring at Alex’s booth.

"Friend, I apologise for offending you earlier. I would really appreciate it if you allowed me to have it. I have a student who was born with a weak foundation, and his spell power is weaker than that of mages of the same rank. As a fellow senior, I believe you understand the position that I’m in, I really can’t lose this elemental fruit." The Archmage said while clenching his fist.

Alex stayed silent for a while after listening to the man’s words, which was why the other party was persistent in acquiring the elemental fruit.

Since there was no deep hatred between them and the other party had apologised for offending him, Alex decided to let it slide this time.

"Fine, you can have it." He voiced out.

But no one believed him and continued to stare at his booth. Didn’t he say the same thing previously but still continued to bid?

The Archmage had a conflicted look on his face. He had similar thoughts to the others and didn’t believe Alex, but what else could he do?

"5 billion Zen." He made his last bid, hoping that the person in the other VVIP booth wouldn’t interfere anymore. If Alex went back on his word again and continued to bid, he would have no choice but to give up.

After the bid from the Archmage, everyone fell into silence as they waited for Alex’s turn to bid again.

But even after ten seconds, his voice wasn’t heard; he kept his words and left the elemental fruit to the other party! 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

The Archmage collapsed on his couch with a dispirited look on his face, while Silvia announced the end of that bidding session; it was as if he had aged a few more years all of a sudden.

He mentally reminded himself to never dare provoke anyone he didn’t know about in the future.

Other items were brought up after elemental fruit, but none of them caught Alex’s fancy; he also didn’t find any other item he could get for Emily. All of the protective magic items that appeared afterwards could only be worn by mages and needed mana to activate.

Alex decided to look for an item for Emily after the auction; he would go to the Union’s storage room to buy one later.

More hours passed and the auction finally came to an end. Those on the floor section who had purchased items were asked to come and claim their things and make payment in the waiting room.

As for those in the private booths, their items were brought to them by the attendants who were assigned to them.

Alex gave the attendant one of his Union cards so that he could go and claim his items for him. The attendant returned shortly after and handed the things back to Alex before leaving, as his job was now complete.

Alex stored the Union card in his storage ring before focusing on the items in his hands. He dropped the healing gel beside him and held both bracelets.

After admiring them for some time, he started to change their appearance.

Alex released a bit of his mana and started to modify the two bracelets. After some time, Alex now had two ordinary-looking rings in his palm.

He had turned the two bracelets into these rings. At first glance, the two rings in Alex’s grasp looked ordinary and only after paying attention would one notice they were ordinary rings.

He stored the rings after he was done with the modification before getting up to leave, he stopped just after taking two steps.

He could feel the mana flowing outside his booth. Alex released his senses to check and saw the Archmage waiting for him outside with the two juniors with him, the mana that Alex had felt was coming from the egg that the young lady was carrying.

It was obvious that the other party wanted to meet him, but Alex didn’t want to meet them.

So instead of using the door, he used Void Walk and appeared outside the Union building.

He searched for the members of the Rising Wave group with his senses and quickly found them.

Mia had come with only four members of the group, and they were about to enter their car and leave. Since they didn’t manage to get anything during the auction, they didn’t stick around after it ended and wanted to leave immediately.

Alex walked over to where the group had parked their car.

Mia and the members of her group had yet to enter their car when they noticed a figure walking toward them.

Joan was the one who spotted Alex first and her expression instantly turned to one of surprise as she notified the others.

Everyone looked over and looks of surprise flashed across their faces when they saw Alex walking toward them.

It was really Mr Chen!

Mia’s expression was a mix of surprise and confusion as she stared at Mr Chen, wondering why he was coming towards them.

Alex reached them after a while and stood in front of Mia. he didn’t say anything immediately, and the two stared at each other.

The eyes of the members of the Rising Wave group moved back and forth between their faces as different thoughts formed in their minds.

Could it be that their leader really had a relationship with Mr Chen?

After a moment of silence, Mia spoke out first.

She first greeted Mr Chen before asking if he wanted their help with something.

Alex didn’t reply immediately and glanced at Simon who was standing on the other side of the car.

"Thanks for last time," he said shortly, referring to when he used Simon’s phone to call the Union a week ago.

Simon "..."

The man’s mind was blank for a few moments as he couldn’t understand why Mr Chen was thanking him. Last time, what happened last time?

He didn’t consider the possibility that Mr Chen was talking about the time when he came to their base to make a call, so he was left confused for a long time as he tried to recall why Mr Chen would be thanking him.

Meanwhile, Alex turned back to face Mia as the healing gel appeared in his hand and he tossed it toward her.

"Here."

Mia’s hand moved instinctively, and she caught the item that Mr Chen had tossed over. Her eyes widened slightly after realising it was the healing gel that was in the auction earlier.

The members of the Rising Wave group also saw this and their eyes widened with shock and excitement.

That was it, these two were definitely in some sort of relationship and Mr Chen had gotten the healing gel for Mia after she was unable to bid for it any longer.

After all, they all remembered clearly that Mr Chen had only started to bid for the healing gel after the price rose too much for those in the floor section to keep bidding.

Mia stared at the healing gel in her hand, hundreds of question marks filled her mind. She lifted her gaze to look at Mr Chen.

Could it be...that Mr Chen was actually into her?!
