Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors-Chapter 130: Gift for Emily
Could it be...that Mr Chen was actually into her?!
"Why...are you giving it to me?" Mia asked after a moment of silence.
Alex thought of what answer he should give for a few seconds before finally saying.
"Because you’re a good person."
His response stunned everyone and they stared at him speechlessly.
After saying that, Alex didn’t stay longer as people were starting to come out. He activated Void Walk and went back into the Union building.
He appeared in the storage room after stepping out of the second gateway, Lance and some of the appraisers were still present.
"Mr Chen! We thought you had left already. A representative of the magic university in the capital wants to meet you. I don’t know if you’ll have some time to spare. You have really met him yet but you’ve interacted with him." Lance exclaimed with a bright smile upon seeing Alex.
Alex rejected the request right away, saying that he didn’t have time and needed a leave soon.
"I understand, I’ll pass your words to him. But may I ask why you’re back? Didn’t you claim your items yet?" Lance nodded and asked.
Alex answered that he had received his item and actually came back to buy something that didn’t appear during the auction. Lance’s interest was piqued and he asked what he might be looking for.
Alex told him that he wanted another item like the twin trinity bracelets, a magic item that could be worn and used by ordinary people.
Lance was first speechless as to why Mr Chen would want such an item but didn’t dare to ask too many questions as it might look like he was interrogating Mr Chen.
He informed Alex that such items were actually rare as not many people would waste their time creating magic items for non-mages.
Most of the magic items that didn’t need to be activated with mana were actually made on request by influential figures who weren’t mages or for family members of mages; not many of such items could be seen roaming around.
They didn’t have any in store here, Lance said that he would need to check in the capital for such items and won’t necessarily find them in the Union branch there.
It was Alex’s turn to be stunned after listening to Lance, he didn’t expect magic items for ordinary people to be so rare.
Since he couldn’t buy one, Alex decided to return first. He would try to get one for Emily in the future if he chanced upon such an item.
But he couldn’t just return like that. He had promised to buy something for Emily while at the auction, but how was he supposed to appease her if he told her that he only got things for their parents?
But what should he buy?
After a moment of thinking, Alex finally decided on what to buy for Emily.
Some time later, Alex returned to his home on the outskirts.
Getting home, he knocked on the front door just to check if anyone was still awake since it was already very late. Alex was surprised to find out that his parents had stayed up to wait for him.
It was already past three! This touched Alex very much. His parents invited him in and told him to go to bed first, they would talk about the auction when morning came.
Alex didn’t have any problem with this and went to his room for the rest of the night.
Morning came quickly, and the family of four gathered in the dining room to eat breakfast.
They asked Alex how the auction went and if he had fun.
Alex narrated that the auction went well, and there were many people and lots of rare items that appeared during the auction. His story was from the pov of a spectator as if he hadn’t participated in the auction.
After he finished narrating, Alex brought out the two small rings from his pockets and presented them to his parents.
He explained that they were normal rings with a bit of a magical effect that he had managed to buy during the auction. Alex calmly explained that the rings could only protect the body of normal people from cold and improve their health slightly; it was a cheap magic item that was useless to other mages at the auction, which was how he was able to get them.
His parents were touched by his thoughtfulness and accepted the rings. Indeed, they didn’t feel any different after wearing the rings, so Alex should be telling the truth.
What they didn’t know was that the rings would only show their effects if any of them were in danger. Aside from that, they would look like any normal ring with an average appearance.
"What about me? What did you get for me?!" Emily asked with anticipation, her eyes flashing with impatient light as she stared at the two rings on their parents’ fingers.
"Hehe, of course I did; why wouldn’t I get anything for you? Wait a moment." Alex flashed a big smile before going upstairs to his bedroom.
He soon returned with a small box in his hands and dropped it on the dining table.
Three pairs of eyes stared at the box with curiosity. Alex didn’t keep them waiting for long and opened the box. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Tada!" He announced as he opened the box and showed its content.
It was a small mana core!
Emily blinked at the mana core with an unsure look in her eyes. She felt that the small orb in the box looked familiar, but couldn’t quite recall what it was.
But the same wasn’t so for their parents. The husband and wife duo had shocked looks on their faces as they stared at the mana core, their eyes shifted to Alex’s face and their questioning expressions were apparent.
How did Alex get a mana core?!
"You don’t have to be shocked, this mana core was really expensive and cost me all of my savings but it’s my gift to you. When you awaken as a mage next year, you can use it to speed up your rank growth." Alex explained with a proud smile while looking at Emily.
Emily was shocked after hearing Alex’s words. This thing was a mana core? Her big brother bought her a mana core!
The words registered in her brain and she got up and hugged Alex in excitement.
"Big brother bought me the best gift, thank you!" She expressed a warm smile on her face.
"Hehe, anything for you." Alex grinned and gently patted her hair.
Their parents just watched from the side with smiles on their faces, they didn’t interrupt the two siblings.
After breakfast, everyone went about their day. Zoran went to work while their mother went to get groceries with Emily, as for Alex, he soon arrived outside Balon City.
Although he didn’t need to farm exp points for the time being, at least not until he reached the elemental Godhood rank, he still needed the beast corpses.
During the auction last night, Alex realised that 700 million Zen wasn’t really a lot in the world of mages like he had thought; he was still a poor person and needed to earn more!
