Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors-Chapter 280: High grade puppet
"Bingo! And don’t worry, I’ve not come to get revenge for my juniors that you killed, instead, I’m here to make you an offer."
The pale-skinned man said with a sly grin.
Alex stared at the other party, everything in him wanted him to attack this pale-skinned fellow after confirming that he was from the Dark Union, but Alex held back. They were currently inside the Union Core Centre building, casting a spell that would be powerful enough to kill the other party, which would inevitably affect everyone else in the building.
Alex didn’t want that.
"What’s the offer?" He finally asked.
"Hehe, I know that you’re searching for the space element essence stone. I have one with me here, I can give it to you." The pale-skinned man said.
"You know I can kill you and take it, right? So what makes you think that you’re in a position to negotiate with me?" Alex asked in a deep tone.
The other party chuckled before replying. "You must be joking, Mr Chen. We’re both Saint rank mages, and it’s impossible to kill either of us instantly. Even though you managed to win, the safety of everyone in this building and the surrounding areas can’t be guaranteed.
Besides, this is just a puppet, so I’m not really afraid of clashing with you; my main body is safe elsewhere.
But don’t worry, I didn’t come here with the intention to fight. Crafting such a high-grade puppet costs a lot; it would be a shame to let it die so easily."
Alex’s eyes widened behind his mask after hearing the other party’s words and he instantly used the skill of the all-knowing mask.
Indeed, the person before him was really a puppet! A high-grade puppet that was capable of perfectly replicating the appearance and aura of the main body, even Alex, who was a Saint rank mage, was fooled!
After realising that it was meaningless to fight this puppet, Alex asked what they wanted in return for the space element essence stone.
"Oh, it’s quite simple really. Join us, Mr Chen. Become a part of the Dark Union and I’ll gladly hand over the essence stone.
You killed quite a lot of our people, and many positions are currently left vacant. I believe that you’ll be very fit for the position of a red robe." The puppet laughed.
Alex’s eyes twitched, but he forced his body to calm down; he needed to use his head in this situation.
"No rush, we have all the time we want, so you can think freely. I’ll wait." The puppet added after Mr Chen remained silent.
Alex recalled something at this moment and asked.
"Does the Dark Union still have the soul jewel?"
A look of surprise appeared on the puppet’s face when he heard the question.
"Ah, the soul jewel that was retrieved from the shadow monarch some time ago. Are you also looking for it?"
Alex didn’t reply and just kept staring at the other party.
"No need to be cold, that’s not how a conversation works, Mr Chen. Well, we still have the soul jewel and I even know where it is." The puppet voiced out with a big smile.
"Then I have some conditions before joining the Dark Union," Alex suddenly said.
"Oh, you agree then. Fine, tell me your conditions." The eyes of the puppet opened wide with excitement.
"First, you’ll hand over the space element essence stone and bring me to the location of the soul jewel. Secondly, I take orders from no one and will do as I please, do you agree?" Alex stated in a strong voice, leaving no room for negotiation.
"Hmm, those conditions aren’t bad actually, the second one might be a problem but I’ll leave that to you and the bishop. Hehe, but I also have some conditions before accepting yours." The puppet said.
Alex’s lips twitched with annoyance and mana gushed out from his body for a moment before retreating.
"Speak,"
"Splendid. You see, just saying that you’ll join the Dark Union isn’t enough for me to trust you. You can just change your mind after getting the things that you want.
So, for the benefit of both sides, why don’t you prove that you really want to join us?
First, kill everyone who’s inside this building right now, then follow me to our base and take the oath of obedience.
This way, no one will have a reason to doubt you, and you’ll be able to trust us too; the Dark Union won’t harm their own," the puppet said with a taunting smirk.
Boom!
Alex could no longer take it and suddenly shot out from his seat, the force destroyed the chair that he was sitting on previously as he appeared in front of the puppet like a ghost and grabbed the other party’s neck.
"I knew you weren’t serious about joining us, it would have been a disaster if I believed you so easily. I just wanted to test your resolve by asking you to kill everyone here, I would have stopped you if you had shown any intentions of doing so.
After all, killing everyone would attract the attention of everyone in the City. I wouldn’t want our newest member to die now, would I?" The puppet didn’t panic even though Alex was gripping his neck with enough force to crush steel.
Alex’s eyes trembled as he realised that he had fallen for the other party’s trick, so he wasn’t serious about wanting Alex to kill everyone in the building.
"Now, Mr Chen. I might be a puppet, but I still replicate every aspect of my main body. Do you really plan to attack me?
Not only will it not benefit you, but I’ve also set mana bombs around the building before you came. They’ll go off if I want to, and killing me would also make them instantly go off; it’s your call." The puppet said with a wide grin.
Alex "..."
Mana bombs? What’s that? He didn’t sense anything when he came earlier, but after learning about the mana bombs, Alex realised that his plan of taking this puppet out of the city using Void Walk wouldn’t be possible because destroying it would make the mana bombs go off.
He didn’t know how powerful the bombs were but would a Saint mage bring weak fireworks to a fight?
’He really thought everything through, huh?’ Alex thought as his free arm trembled.
He wanted to kill this puppet so badly but doing so could lead to an unfortunate event.
After a while, he let go of the puppet’s neck and moved away from him.
"Leave, I don’t ever want to see you again."
The puppet stood up and rubbed his neck which now had prints of Alex’s fingers on it.
"Oh, we’ll definitely see each other again, Mr Chen. But next time, I won’t be requesting you to join us, instead, I’ll be taking your life." The puppet said before taking something out of nowhere, probably his storage ring and tossing it into the air.
A small teleportation formation appeared in the air and the puppet walked into it. Just before the teleportation formation disappeared, the voice of the puppet sounded and said.
"And about the mana bombs, I lied. I just wanted to make sure you didn’t do anything stupid, to think you’ll fall for such a small lie."
The formation vanished right after. Alex was not left alone in the room.
Seconds after the formation vanished, Alex stood rooted to the ground as the words of the puppet kept resounding in his ears.
He had been tricked several times by a puppet, Alex didn’t know how to describe the level of frustration and embarrassment he was going through right now so he just stood there and stared for a long time.
Meanwhile, the pale-skinned puppet arrived inside a dark underground corridor after going through the teleportation formation.
He walked for a bit before arriving in a small room with glowing lanterns hanging on the wall.
In the centre of the room was a long table made from earth, and a pale corpse lay on it. A pale-skinned man who looked identical to the puppet stood next to the corpse and used fresh blood to draw runes on the corpse.
"He’s really stupid, isn’t he? He might be a powerful mage but he’s like a blind kid who can’t see even through the simplest tricks." The man said with a grin as he kept drawing the runes on the corpse.
The puppet chuckled and said nothing. The connection between the puppet and the master allowed the master to feel and experience whatever the puppet was going through so there wasn’t a need for the puppet to report anything.
"Don’t you think he’ll be a fine specimen for the new puppet method?" The pale-skinned man asked.
"He’s dumb, do you want to create a stupid masterpiece?" The puppet chuckled.
"Oh, come on, your lies were cheap but quite believable."
"Hehehe,"
