Chapter 238: Chapter 226: Sister-in-law is Quite Popular at School (Three Updates)

"Step out of the fog. Third Brother’s first love is Su Wanrou. I watched a bit of the show last night—it’s really good, and the actors’ performances are fantastic."

Tong Airui quietly memorized the name of the drama and said no more. Over the years, he had completely disconnected from TV dramas and movies, but for Third Brother, he was willing to watch it. He wanted to understand what kind of woman could torment Third Brother to this extent.

Da Peng dropped Tong Airui off at the office building and stood outside the car smoking a cigarette. Before he’d even finished his cigarette, both of his phones began ringing incessantly.

Da Peng glanced at the numbers and quickly stubbed out his cigarette butt on the ground, answering one of the calls.

"Something happened?"

"Nothing has happened yet, but I feel like something is about to go wrong soon."

"What kind of nonsense is that? Speak clearly!" Da Peng snapped angrily.

"Da Peng, our young madam is way too popular. In just a ten-minute recess, twenty-three boys approached her to chat. Earlier, she walked around the playground, and all the boys were staring at her. I can’t take this job anymore; she’s impossible to guard against!"

Da Peng furrowed his brows. "I sent you to look after her, not to monitor every boy who talks to her! Your job is to ensure the young madam isn’t harmed—got it?"

The person on the other end sounded miserable. "Got it, but if the captain finds out..."

"Just focus on doing your job well; don’t worry about anything else!" Da Peng barked his orders and answered his other phone, which was still ringing relentlessly. "Speak!"

"Lin Can, just now when I was watering the plants, I overheard a few guys discussing how they could strike up a conversation with the young madam. Word is, they’re planning to invite her out for a meal."

Da Peng began rubbing his temples furiously. "Got it."

After hanging up, Da Peng leaned against the car door in a daze, debating whether this matter should be reported to Tong Airui. But the repercussions of reporting it...

Da Peng mulled it over for a while and finally called Yuan Hang to relay the situation. Before he could ask what to do next, Yuan Hang’s laughter echoed over the phone.

"Yuan Hang, what are you laughing at! If this were you, what would you do?"

"Tell the boss and let him handle it himself."

"Just like that? If I tell him, Fourth Brother will explode!"

"Hahaha... serves him right for marrying such a beautiful wife! This is what you call paying the price for your own choices!" Yuan Hang stopped laughing and then said, "Just tell the boss that the young madam is pretty popular at school. Keep the details vague and let him take care of the rest."

"Alright..." Da Peng hesitated for a moment before heading upstairs quickly.

Tong Airui heard the announcement and moved his gaze from the documents to the door. "Come in!"

Da Peng pushed the door open and stepped in. Seeing his gloomy expression, Tong Airui asked tensely, "Did something happen with your sister-in-law?"

"Just got two calls saying everything’s normal. Also mentioned, uh, that Sister-in-law is pretty popular at school."

"Popular?" Tong Airui slowly savored the term. "She’s not being harassed, is she?"

"No harassment. Just a few boys who walked up to chat with her."

"How many boys?" Tong Airui’s hawk-like sharp eyes fixed intensely on Da Peng.

"Twenty-three..." Feeling frightened by Tong Airui’s glare, Da Peng confessed the truth immediately.

"Ha—" Tong Airui tossed his paperwork aside, leaned back in his leather chair, and muttered breathlessly, "Only twenty-three? That’s nothing!"

"I think so too. Sister-in-law is super adorable and pretty..."

"Shut your mouth!" Tong Airui pointed a finger at him. "Nothing, my foot! She’s only been in school for about an hour, and already twenty-three have struck up conversations with her. If she stays there for the whole day, won’t that make it two hundred and thirty?"

"Fourth Brother, what should we do? We obviously can’t go rounding up every guy who talks to her, right?"

Tong Airui was so angry, he wanted to smack him. "Those guys who approached your sister-in-law—what was her reaction?"

"Forgot to ask." Da Peng glanced at him timidly.

"Tomorrow I’m sending you to Haotian!" Tong Airui grabbed his military cap and stormed out.

"Fourth Brother, where are you going?" Da Peng quickly chased after him.

Tong Airui halted. "Your sister-in-law doesn’t have any classes this afternoon, right?"

"Yeah."

Tong Airui checked the time. "Let’s go. Drive me to the school. Bring the files on the desk; I’ll review them in the car."

Da Peng didn’t dare hesitate and hurriedly packed up the files, following Tong Airui downstairs.

Yi Luowa had no idea Tong Airui had left and then come back again. Her first class was connected to her major, so she attended it energetically. By the second class, however, her focus waned. But not wanting to bring shame to the Odric family, she forced herself to listen attentively until the very end.

As soon as the final bell rang, Yi Luowa began packing up her books. With no classes in the afternoon, she’d already made plans with Connie to take Ai Ni out for some fun.

Just as she slung her backpack over her shoulder to leave, a boy from the neighboring desk timidly slid her a piece of paper. Yi Luowa glanced at him but didn’t take it.

"I don’t mean anything weird by it, I just wanted to invite you to watch a movie!"

Without even turning her head, Yi Luowa walked straight out the door. Unwilling to give up, the boy chased after her, and their cat-and-mouse scene drew the attention of many. Soon, several boys joined in, cheering and joking around.

Kou’er froze at the sight, unused to such chaos after spending years at the base. Seeing Yi Luowa walking so quickly, she hurriedly followed.

"Hey, new student! New girl!" the boy shouted loudly, "I’m not a tiger; I won’t eat you! I just want to ask you to see a movie. Why are you running so fast?"

The crowd burst into laughter.

Yi Luowa frowned slightly and stopped abruptly. She turned around and said to the boy, "I have a boyfriend. If I’m going to the movies, it will be with him. Please stop pestering me!"

The boy, unfazed, grinned cheekily. "Wanna bet? If you agree to watch one movie with me, I guarantee I’ll become your next boyfriend!"

"Where does your delusional confidence come from?" The icy words didn’t come from Yi Luowa but rather behind her, as a voice as cold as hell resonated through the corridor.

The crowd froze, stunned. They couldn’t believe their eyes—it was none other than Duke Airy Odric, their famed summer lord. Previously, they’d only seen him on TV, but now he stood before them in person. He looked even younger, more handsome, and cooler than on-screen.

The corridor instantly fell silent except for the heavy sound of boots striking the marble floor.

Before Yi Luowa could turn around, a strong hand claimed her slim waist possessively.

"Wanna watch a movie?" Tong Airui looked down at the dazed Yi Luowa.

"Not really. Watching a movie doesn’t compare to watching you." Yi Luowa tilted her head up at him.

"Then come home with me. You can stare all you want, free of charge." Tong Airui smiled affectionately, brushing her nose lightly with his hand.

"Sure!" Yi Luowa smiled sweetly. "Fourth Brother, didn’t we agree you wouldn’t pick me up for lunch today?"

"If I didn’t come, I wouldn’t have gotten to see this entertaining show, would I?" Tong Airui’s gaze darted to the boy’s face as he chuckled. "Lan Bo, should I introduce you to your new classmate properly?"

Lan Bo laughed awkwardly. "No need, no need. My sister told me you have a girlfriend, but I didn’t know this new student was her."

"Know now?" Tong Airui’s expression instantly darkened.

"I get it, I get it!" Lan Bo squeaked and bolted.

Watching him flee so spinelessly, Tong Airui wrapped an arm around Yi Luowa’s waist and walked away.

The news of the goddess-like transfer student being Duke Airy Odric’s girlfriend spread like wildfire throughout the Royal Academy in under five minutes. Jealousy, envy, admiration, and predictions about their future flooded the campus, keeping the topic alive until Yi Luowa’s graduation.

But all of that was a story for another time. Right now, Yi Luowa was grimly sitting in the car enduring an interrogation.

"Did you have boys always falling over themselves for you at your previous schools too?" Tong Airui asked seriously.

Yi Luowa nodded honestly.

"And how did you handle it?" Tong Airui felt his days of worrying were far from over. Who knew she would be so magnetic!

"If I wasn’t interested, I’d handle them coldly, like today. If I found them okay, I’d go out with them..." Yi Luowa noticed his look turning dark and quickly added with a cheeky smile, "Just joking! I’m so high and mighty—no one but you catches my eye. Whenever they’d approach me, I’d deal with them violently. I’d smack each one away. Today, I thought about throwing punches too, but then, I couldn’t bring shame to you, so cold treatment was the best option."

"You, high and mighty?" Tong Airui frowned dourly.

"Of course! I’ve always maintained my ’aloof and unapproachable’ image. Ask Huo Li if you don’t believe me. I’m only this adorable in front of you!" Yi Luowa said, making a fist and swinging it playfully above her head. "Fourth Brother, good thing you came; otherwise, if he said one more word to me, I would’ve started throwing punches. Ugh, just thinking about it makes me shiver. If I started hitting, it’d be game over—first blood at the very least. Even the lightest injuries..." She teased, glancing at the spot where she had hurt him previously.

Tong Airui felt terribly uneasy under her gaze, the sensation of almost being torn apart surging through him.

"Hehe," Yi Luowa giggled and rubbed his cheek. "Don’t worry, I won’t lay hands on you anymore. But—if anyone else dares bother me at school, I’ll make sure they get beaten so badly, even their own moms won’t recognize them. Fourth Brother, I’ll fight them; you don’t mind, right?"

The words "mine" directly delighted Tong Airui. Tong Airui clutched her hand tightly in his own and smiled. "If you kill them, I’ll serve the sentence for you!"

"OK! With you backing me up, I feel reassured." Yi Luowa saw Tong Airui was no longer angry, turned her face away, and secretly giggled before composing herself and asking seriously, "Fourth Brother, do you know that spineless guy?"

"Yes, he’s the son of the Duke Lan."

"Duke Lan? So, doesn’t that make him Lan Ji’s brother?"

"Yes." Mentioning Lan Ji, Tong Airui frowned slightly—the issues involving Third Brother made his head ache.
