Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 243 - 231: So You’re an Experienced Driver? (Second Update)
Tong Airui gripped the phone tightly. "Why won’t you investigate? Luowa has the right to know who she is and where she came from!"
Mi Chenshuo let out a low sigh. "At least Luowa still has her second uncle supporting her for now. If we dig up something unpleasant, Third Brother worries you’ll follow in my footsteps."
"Third Brother, I’ll say it again—I will protect my woman and won’t let her suffer any grievance."
"Fourth Brother, you know your status. There are countless pairs of eyes in Xiawu watching you. I believe you have the ability to protect Luowa, but public opinion is terrifying. Can Luowa bear it? If she can’t handle it and ends up running away like Su Qing, what will you do?
Back then, Su Qing and I didn’t even dare to publicize our relationship widely. Only a few people knew, yet she cried countless times in secret. There were already signs she wanted to run away from me. I was too young then—thinking sweet words would smooth things over, only to address the symptoms, not the root cause. That’s why we ended up like this."
Tong Airui leaned against the table and was silent for a moment. "What you said isn’t without reason. I’ll think it over. Third Brother, you don’t like going home, but at least call Aunt, will you? She said she never forced you to marry Lan Ji."
"Let me take a breather. I’m afraid if I talk to her now, we’ll end up arguing."
"It’s been so many years. Just let it go—don’t hold a grudge against Aunt anymore."
"No grudge, not anymore. Just feel stifled, especially since Su Qing came back. It’s even harder to breathe."
"Third Brother, earlier I spoke from a general standpoint. Now, let me give you my personal take: if you still love her, then chase her back. If the family can’t accept you two, you can take her away. But before leaving, think it through—once you go, you’ll lose everything. And ask yourself if this woman is truly someone worth sacrificing everything for."
Mi Chenshuo chuckled and lit another cigarette. "You’re a good brother, Third Brother knows that. No matter what happens, you’ll always have my back."
Tong Airui furrowed his brows slightly. "I’ll nag you one more thing: Aunt is doing this for your own good. Find a time, sit down, and have a proper talk with her. Mothers go through so much to raise us. Even if we try to repay them, it’ll never be enough. All we can offer is filial piety and harmony."
"Alright, I’ll adjust myself as soon as I can." Mi Chenshuo glanced at the time. "It’s still early. Want to come over and have a drink with me?"
"I don’t drink!"
Mi Chenshuo laughed heartily. "It’s not that you don’t drink, it’s that you want to cuddle your wife and sleep early, isn’t it? So, when do you plan to give me a little nephew?"
"Hanging up now!" Tong Airui ended the call the moment he heard the teasing, raising his hand to disconnect the line.
Mi Chenshuo raised an eyebrow slightly. "You’ve really got it rough, huh. Leaving your wife behind just to chat with me. Good brother—I’ll remember your kindness for life."
"Beep beep..."
Mi Chenshuo glanced at the flashing number on the screen and hit the answer button. "Shao Gang, something wrong?"
Shao Gang spoke excitedly. "Chenshuo, I saw Su Qing on TV!"
Mi Chenshuo’s brows furrowed tightly. "You’re this excited just because you saw her?"
"I’m happy for you! You’ve been searching for her for so many years, and now she’s finally back!"
"Happy, my ass. She won’t see me." Mi Chenshuo rubbed his forehead. "I’ll give you her number. Try contacting her and see if she’ll respond to you."
"Sure! If she responds to me, I’ll be your messenger again, just like before. By the way, Chenshuo, the film studio site selection is done. I’ve picked a few locations. When do you want to take a look?"
"Handle it yourself. The company matters—I’ll be relying on you a lot lately. Grab a pen and paper, I’ll give you Su Qing’s number." Mi Chenshuo gave the number to Shao Gang and quickly hung up, wanting to be alone with his thoughts.
Duke’s Mansion
Tong Airui shared a slightly condensed version of the conversation with Long Che. Hearing that Mi Chenshuo would soon call Yan Zi, Long Che’s anger somewhat subsided.
"Go on up. I’ll call your aunt."
Tong Airui responded and went upstairs. Before he reached the second floor, he could already hear laughter coming from Teng Aini’s room.
"Did Fifth Brother really say that to you? Hahaha, this guy has finally figured things out for real." Yi Luowa sat cross-legged on the bed, laughing.
"Did my Fifth Brother mention transferring you to another job?" Teng Aini asked, sitting beside Yi Luowa.
Connie chuckled. "No, he didn’t mention it. After dinner, he just had my stuff moved directly to his assistant’s office."
"He’s taking action already. Isn’t that enough proof?" Yi Luowa teased Teng Aini with a laugh and nudged her. "Your Fifth Sister-in-law has already given her approval. So, how about you? Where did you and You Jia go today?"
"Should I say we went to get a hotel room? Haha..." Teng Aini collapsed onto the bed, laughing.
Standing outside the door, Tong Airui’s mouth twitched fiercely. They say three women make a drama, but these three seemed to be performing three different dramas at once. Teng Aini was truly bold—talking about getting a hotel room!
"Shh—" Connie covered Teng Aini’s mouth. "Lower your voice! If Grandpa hears, he’ll scold You Jia to death."
Yi Luowa pulled her hand down and gave her a light slap. "Silly Connie, Aini’s joking. If they really got a hotel room, do you think she’d brag about it so loudly to us?"
Connie pouted. "True. I’m so dumb sometimes."
Yi Luowa raised an eyebrow at her. "So, when are you and Tong Fifth planning to get a room yourselves?"
Teng Aini climbed back up and pushed Yi Luowa with a laugh. "Even if she’s dumb, she wouldn’t tell us that. Stop dreaming already."
Connie grinned. "Exactly! Aini, ask Luowa when she’s planning to, you know... with Fourth Brother."
"Haha... Luowa’s too crafty. Do you think she’d tell us? I suggest you go ask my brother. If he gets in a good mood, he might spill."
Yi Luowa flopped onto the bed and stayed put, smiling as she looked at Connie. "What exactly? We’ve done so many things. Could you give me a bit more detail?"
Connie puckered her lips and made a kissy sound. "This."
Yi Luowa exchanged glances with Teng Aini, and the two burst into laughter.
"Aini, we totally misunderstood! Our princess here is still pure as snow, haha..."
"Haha... And you’re the experienced one?"
"Not as experienced as you! Haha... I heard you and You Jia kissed ages ago. Come on, fess up—aside from kissing, what else did you two do?"
By now, there were already three men standing outside the door. Their faces resembled a color palette—fluctuating between red and green. They hadn’t even been this wild, yet the three women inside dared to say anything and everything.
Tong Aino kicked at the door. "Connie, get back to your room and sleep!"
The laughter inside instantly ceased, only to erupt even louder moments later.
"All crazy!" Tong Aino pointed at the door, speaking to Tong Airui. "Your woman is laughing the hardest. Aren’t you going to drag her out? How’s anyone supposed to sleep?"
"Aini hasn’t been this happy in days. Could you bear to interrupt her?" Tong Airui glared at him and turned to You Jia, who was standing silently with a smile. "Where did you two go today?"
"We watched a movie and then strolled in the park."
Tong Airui finally let out a sigh of relief. At least they hadn’t gone to a hotel room!
"Connie, are you coming out or not? If you don’t go to bed now, and I catch you dozing off tomorrow, I’m docking your salary!"
The door flung open with a bang. Connie stood there with puffed-up cheeks and demanded, "When have you ever paid me a salary? Dock your imaginary money all you want!"
Tong Aino stared at her suspiciously for a while. "Possessed by a ghost?"
"Bang!" Connie slammed the door shut. "You’re the one possessed by a ghost!"
Tong Aino’s mouth twitched. "With a temper like that, you expect me to marry her? I won’t upgrade her from an intern girlfriend in this lifetime."
Tong Airui smirked.
You Jia turned away, smiling to himself.
"Who wants that!" Connie burst out the door. "If you’re so bold, then don’t even let me be an intern girlfriend!"
"Don’t think I won’t!" Tong Aino glared at her.
"Then you don’t even have the right to control me. Go do your own thing, because I’m not done laughing tonight!"
Tong Aino was so furious he was nearly huffing aloud. He thought to himself that Connie absolutely couldn’t be allowed to hang around Yi Luowa. With someone backing her up, she dared to challenge him outright.
Connie shot him a glare before turning to the bedroom. "Luowa, Aini, you should sleep early too. I’m heading back—I’m a bit tired."
Yi Luowa shuffled out in her slippers. "Goodnight, darling. For your performance tonight, I give you a virtual thumbs-up."
Yi Luowa grinned and gave a thumbs-up.
"Stop teasing Fifth Brother already—look at his face and all those colors." Tong Airui pulled Yi Luowa with a smile. "Go to bed—you’ve got class tomorrow."
As Tong Airui and Yi Luowa swaggered into their bedroom, Tong Aino huffed and said to You Jia, "You should rest early too. I’m off to deal with that madwoman."
You Jia chuckled and nodded.
The hallway quieted instantly. Seeing no one around, You Jia quickly slipped into Teng Aini’s bedroom.
Teng Aini, in the middle of making her bed, turned her head at the sound of the door. "You... You Jia!"
"Shh—I’ll stay with you for a bit, then I’ll leave." You Jia walked over and leaned in to kiss her soft pink lips.
Teng Aini playfully patted his broad shoulder.
You Jia pulled back and gazed at her with his deep blue eyes brimming with happiness. "Just like when we were kids."
Teng Aini gave him a teasing look. "Nonsense. When we were kids, there was a milky smell—now, there isn’t."
"I meant you’re still the same as you were." You Jia smiled and pulled her tight into his arms.
Teng Aini blinked. "You still remember."
"Of course—I’ll never forget. That was, after all, our real first kiss." You Jia chuckled and planted a kiss on her cheek.
"Bang bang..." Just as they were reminiscing about their sweet first kiss, someone pounded on the door like thunder.
Teng Aini was puffed up with anger. "Why doesn’t anyone ever check my brother’s room instead!"
Long Che, listening outside, called out loudly, "Aini, send You Jia out here. I can’t sleep. Let him play chess with me."
