Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 244 - 232: Don’t Worry About Them (Third Update)
Ai Ni chuckled in exasperation as she was annoyed by her dad. Pulling You Jia by the hand, she opened the door. "Dad, you’re really quick. You Jia hasn’t even been here for three minutes, and you’re already knocking."
Long Che shot her an annoyed look. "Cut the chatter!"
You Jia smiled as he let go of Ai Ni’s hand. "You should get some rest early. I’ll go play chess with Uncle Che."
Ai Ni grabbed his arm. "Your chess skills are no match for my sister-in-law’s. Let my dad find her instead."
"I only like playing chess with You Jia!" Long Che’s face darkened as he glanced at You Jia. "Hurry up! Even your grandpa is waiting downstairs."
Ai Ni burst into laughter. "I get it now. In our family, the weak get picked on. My brother struts around the house like he owns the place, and no one dares to touch him!"
Tong Airui pushed the door open and peeked in. "Ai Ni, if you say one more word, I’ll break You Jia’s legs!"
Ai Ni leaned on the door frame and made a face at him. "If you dare lay a hand on You Jia, I’ll sell out my sister-in-law!"
"Try selling her, I dare you!" Tong Airui threatened as he moved towards her, but Yi Luowa grabbed him and dragged him into the room.
You Jia smiled and walked out. "You all get some rest early. I’ll go downstairs to play chess with Grandpa and Uncle Che."
"If only you went earlier, we wouldn’t have so much drama!" Tong Airui muttered from inside the room.
Yi Luowa pointed at him and whispered, "You’re something else! Why’d you have to call Dad and snitch? Couldn’t you let them chat for a little while longer?"
"Chat? What if they end up talking... in bed?" Tong Airui’s gaze subtly swept over her face.
Yi Luowa instinctively turned to run.
Tong Airui grabbed her back, smiling. "Run where? Go take a shower and get some rest. I’m not going to do anything to you."
Yi Luowa nervously looked at him. "Really?"
"What do you think? If I wanted you, would I have waited until today?"
"Tch!" Yi Luowa shook off his hand and ran into the bathroom.
Tong Airui laughed helplessly to himself. Honestly, in this house, he didn’t dare do anything. Now, whenever he heard knocking, his heart would skip a beat.
When Yi Luowa came out of the shower, she was humming a little tune. "Brother Yi, I’m done. It’s your turn."
Tong Airui put down the newspaper and glanced over. Seeing her in his oversized bathrobe, with the long sleeves flopping around as she moved, he couldn’t help but laugh.
Yi Luowa awkwardly pulled at the section of the robe nearly dragging on the ground. "I accidentally got my bathrobe wet, so I decided to wear yours. You don’t wear it anyway."
"Who said I don’t? Give it back," Tong Airui said, smiling as he walked over and tugged at the robe she was wearing. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"What are you doing?!" Yi Luowa exclaimed, stepping back in alarm.
"Give me the bathrobe. I decided I want to wear it today," Tong Airui said, following her.
Yi Luowa giggled. "As if I don’t know how petty you are. Fine, take it!"
Seeing her swiftly remove the bathrobe without hesitation, Tong Airui’s expectations were immediately dashed when he realized she had her pajamas on underneath. This little troublemaker—she did it on purpose!
Yi Luowa smugly pointed to her nightwear. "I’m dressed underneath, haha..."
"Just you wait!" Tong Airui huffed as he stormed into the bathroom, fuming.
"Brother Yi, you don’t want the bathrobe anymore?" Yi Luowa called out, clutching the robe and standing there.
"No!" Tong Airui slammed the bathroom door behind him.
"Haha... You’re so easy to rile up! If I don’t frustrate you to death, my name isn’t Yi Luowa." Feeling ever so pleased with herself, she climbed into bed.
Outside the door, the three eavesdroppers covered their mouths and scurried away into Ai Ni’s room, giggling.
"Haha... I’m dying of laughter!" Ai Ni leaned on Connie’s shoulder, speaking to Tong Aino. "See? I told you big brother didn’t succeed, and you didn’t believe me. Tonight, the truth is out!"
"Why is big brother such a pushover!" Tong Aino joked.
"If you’re not a pushover, why don’t you show us how it’s done?" Ai Ni laughed, playfully pushing Connie into his arms.
Tong Aino quickly stepped back. "I’m a proper person! No ticket, no ride."
"Let’s see how long you can stay proper!" Ai Ni laughed as she opened the door. "Alright, you two serious folks, out you go. This lady needs her beauty sleep."
Connie tugged at her hand. "Can I sleep with you tonight?"
"Nope!" Ai Ni chuckled as she pushed them both out.
Back to Yi Luowa, who had been so smug just moments ago, now she was pitifully gazing at the sulking Tong Airui. "Brother Yi, are you okay?"
"I’m fine. Maybe I’m just too nervous," Tong Airui said, clenching her small hand. Just a bit more... but he couldn’t manage to pull it off. He wondered if he should see a psychologist.
"Brother Yi..." Yi Luowa blinked her big eyes. "How about we find another time and place to try again?"
Tong Airui apologetically patted her cheek. "Alright."
Yi Luowa nuzzled against him. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight," Tong Airui replied, tightening his embrace.
Early the next morning, the two had breakfast and left the Duke’s residence. Before leaving, Tong Airui mentioned that Yi Luowa had plans to visit the car factory and wouldn’t be returning in the evening.
Everyone knew Yi Luowa had been busy building a car for Tong Airui, but no one knew she had secretly prepared surprises for both Long Che and Tong Yao as well.
Tong Airui dropped Yi Luowa off at school before returning to Shen Ying Industries.
Yi Luowa felt something was off during her first class. Her classmates kept sneaking glances at her, but no one approached her. Even Lan Bo, who had deliberately swapped seats to sit beside her yesterday, had moved to the last row today.
During the break, Yi Luowa and Kou’er went to the schoolyard. Pouting, Yi Luowa said to Kou’er, "Everyone’s avoiding me because of Tong Airui. This isn’t good. I still have at least another year here, and without friends, it’ll be so lonely."
Kou’er thought for a moment before replying, "Anyway, you have the Duke spoiling you. Who cares about them?"
"He can’t be with me 24/7," Yi Luowa pouted again. As they reached the woods, she asked, "Kou’er, why are we coming here?"
"This is the only shady spot on campus. I don’t want you to get tanned," Kou’er explained with a smile.
"Su Qing, come sit here."
Yi Luowa was about to pull Kou’er back, but she froze when she heard voices from the woods. As soon as she caught the name "Su Qing," her ears immediately perked up.
Seeing her so on edge, Kou’er also kept quiet.
"Do you remember where we met for the first time?" Su Qing smoothed out her wind-tossed hair, a subtle smile playing on her lips.
"Not just you and me. The three of us," came the reply.
Su Qing frowned slightly. "Shao Gang, I don’t want to talk about him. If you came here for him, then I’m leaving."
Shao Gang raised his hand, blocking her. "You didn’t used to be like this. Why are you ready to leave after just a few words? I didn’t come for him; I came for you. So, how have you been all these years?"
"I’ve been fine," Su Qing replied with a faint smile. "Coming back to campus after so many years, everything feels so familiar. But it’s a shame—I’m leaving."
"Leaving so soon? Where are you headed this time? Can you tell me?" Shao Gang gazed at her cool, elegant profile and felt a pang of nostalgia. Su Qing had changed. The once sunny, radiant girl was no more. Now, even though she was speaking to him and had agreed to revisit campus together, her eyes were cold, and her tone devoid of warmth.
"I can’t say," Su Qing said, glancing at him. "Who you’re loyal to, I know better than anyone. But still, if it weren’t for you, I might’ve foolishly believed..."
Just as Yi Luowa was listening intently, Kou’er tugged at her sleeve. "The bell’s about to ring."
Though Kou’er’s voice wasn’t loud, Su Qing and Shao Gang still heard it and turned to look in their direction.
Yi Luowa grabbed Kou’er and ran.
Su Qing noticed it was just two high-school-aged girls and smiled, shaking her head. "Seeing them reminds me of us."
