Chapter 257: Chapter 245: Is the Banquet Prepared for Me? (1)

"I’m mad right now, don’t want to talk!" Yi Luowa pouted as she noticed he had calmed down.

Tong Airui quickly sat up, massaging her hand as he apologized, "Wifey, you hit me, you scolded me, and yet you’re still mad? You’ve been at it for so long, you must be tired. Let me give you a massage."

Yi Luowa pulled her hand away angrily, "Having a jealous boyfriend, how can I not be mad? I can already foresee my future—I’ll have to live like a vinegar factory worker, reeking of acetic acid wherever I go."

"Wifey, tell me what troubles Third Bro is facing, and I’ll tell you two good pieces of news in return."

Yi Luowa glared at him, "Weren’t you in a hurry to leave for something urgent? Why aren’t you gone yet?"

"I just wanted to..." Tong Airui swallowed the rest of his response.

Yi Luowa smirked, "If you want to know, go ask Third Bro yourself!"

"Why would I ask him? He keeps bugging my wifey; should I care about him?" Tong Airui leaned against the headboard with a scoff. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"If you don’t care about him, why are you so concerned about his issues?"

"That’s a different matter. If he has problems, I’ll help him solve them. But bugging my wifey? That’s something I’ll jot down in my ledger!"

Yi Luowa smacked his long leg, "Considering we’re family, I’ll tell you. Third Bro is very likely betrayed by one of his most trusted brothers."

"I didn’t betray him... You mean Shao Gang?" Tong Airui looked at her in shock, "Do you have evidence?"

"Just discovered some clues. Regarding the film studio land, Shao Gang took kickbacks and chose a plot that’s far from ideal. I’ve suggested Third Bro probe him when he returns to the company to see how he explains himself. Tonight, he’ll bring back some of Shao Gang’s account ledgers for Connie to investigate."

"Shao Gang has followed Third Bro for so many years..." Tong Airui slammed his fist onto the bed.

Yi Luowa sat up, continuing, "That’s not the worst part. Do you remember me texting you about seeing Su Qing with him? You told me to focus on my studies, so I didn’t bring it up again. That day, I overheard Su Qing saying, ’Thanks to you, otherwise, I’d still foolishly think...’ Although I didn’t catch everything, based on my gut feeling, I suspect Shao Gang had a hand in Su Qing and Third Bro’s breakup."

Tong Airui pondered for a moment, "I’ll arrange for a few people to help Third Bro investigate."

Yi Luowa shook her head, "I already suggested the same to Third Bro, but he said he wants to personally handle it and confront whoever betrayed him."

Tong Airui squinted at her, "You sure talk a lot with Third Bro. What else have you discussed?"

Yi Luowa smiled mischievously and motioned for him to come closer, "Come, I’ll tell you."

Tong Airui leaned in, believing her words.

Yi Luowa wrapped her arms around his shoulders and bit his ear, "That’s for being so nosy!"

"Wifey, bite gently! If it’s broken, I won’t be able to attend the royal banquet!" Tong Airui covered his ear and pleaded for mercy.

Yi Luowa gave him another nip before letting go. She clapped her hands and got out of bed, "Try being nosy again, and I’ll freeze your cards tonight! Come downstairs to eat; I still have to go shopping with Mom in the afternoon."

Tong Airui reached out to grab her hand.

Yi Luowa narrowed her eyes dangerously, "Anything else?"

Tong Airui grimaced, "Wifey, there’s one more thing I need to discuss."

"Spit it out!" Yi Luowa prepared herself to hit him again.

"Can you manufacture one extra of the car you made for Dad and me? If not, tell me where you got the materials; I’ll have someone replicate it."

"Tong Airui, when you need something, at least have the attitude of someone asking for a favor! Knowing you have a favor to ask, how dare you act nosy with me earlier!"

"And then?"

"And then? And then nothing!"

"Fine, I’ll just tell King Muta not to bother preparing for any banquets." Tong Airui took out his phone as he spoke.

Yi Luowa blinked, "The car is for King Muta?"

"Yep!" Tong Airui nodded, tapping three digits on the screen.

"Is Saturday’s banquet for me?"

"Yep!" He tapped another digit.

Yi Luowa peeked at his phone, "Why would they prepare a banquet for someone as small as me?"

"Small? You’re just the perfect size!" Tong Airui kept tapping.

Yi Luowa’s lips twitched. She reached out and took his phone.

Tong Airui looked up at her, "King Muta wants everyone to know I have a girlfriend. It’s for both of us. I was so happy I promised him a luxury car."

"I’ll call the factory later to have them send another set of materials."

"Wifey, does this mean you agree?"

"You already promised him. How could I let you go back on your word?" Yi Luowa pursed her lips, "I treat you so well, but you still give me attitude. Thinking about it makes me sad."

Tong Airui jumped out of bed and pulled her into his arms, "Wifey, thank you! It was my fault for making such a fuss today. I won’t do that to you again. But can you care about me a little more? Such a big car was sitting there, and you didn’t even notice. Tell me, do I even have a place in your heart anymore?"

"I was just worried about Third Bro! I know you and Third Bro are close. Helping him is the same as helping you. I’m doing this for you! How could you show me attitude for that?"

Yi Luowa tilted her head to look at him, her eyes glimmering, "Your mood affects the entire family. Tong Airui, you’re twenty-four now. You’re not a kid anymore. You’re a Duke and the leader of the Griffin Team, yet at home you act like this. If word got out, it would be so embarrassing!"

Tong Airui guiltily patted her head, "I won’t do it again."

"You’re just like your dad. I don’t expect you to truly change, but please, whatever happens, take three minutes to calm down and think clearly before you lose your temper."

"Got it. I’ll listen to you." Tong Airui agreed without hesitation. As long as his wifey wasn’t mad, he would agree to anything. Come to think of it, he was being ridiculous. All he wanted was to remind the little girl to pay more attention to him. Instead, he got scolded and lectured for half a day, but now, he felt at peace.

Yi Luowa pouted and pulled out her phone, "Let’s see who else might want this type of car. Maybe I should produce a few more."

"Nobody in Xiawu would dare ask for it. I don’t care about others." Tong Airui felt bad for her; producing more cars would leave her with no rest at all.

Yi Luowa called Mr. Pu and requested another set of car parts and materials. Laughing, she said, "Uncle Pu, put it all on my account. After the car is finished and if there’s no use for any excess, I’ll send the money to the company’s account."

Mr. Pu chuckled, "I wonder how much our young rich lady has in private assets now. Can it even cover my losses?"

Yi Luowa wrinkled her nose, "Don’t underestimate me! Five championship winnings aren’t enough for you? If they aren’t, I’ll go win a few more."

"Haha... Keep your money. Second Master said you can use anything you need freely."

Yi Luowa shook her head, "I can’t always spend Second Uncle’s money."

"Luowa, you and Second Master still need to draw lines? If he heard this, he’d be furious! You mustn’t say such things again, got it?"

"Okay," Yi Luowa replied deflatedly. Since learning she isn’t a true Yi family member, her bond with Second Uncle hadn’t changed, but she felt she shouldn’t rely on him financially anymore. After all, she could support herself. However, Uncle Pu’s words left her conflicted again.

After hanging up, Yi Luowa turned to Tong Airui, "If I insist on separating finances, will it hurt Second Uncle’s feelings?"

"For sure, because he has always treated you as his child. But you’ll soon find a reason not to feel guilty spending his money anymore," Tong Airui replied with a mysterious smile.

Yi Luowa eyed him suspiciously, "What do you mean by that? And you said you’d exchange two good news items for one! I already told you; now it’s your turn."

Tong Airui shook his head, "Let’s just wait for me to surprise you."

Yi Luowa pouted angrily, "Tong Airui! You’re going back on your word! Are you even a man?"

"Whether I’m a man or not, you should know better than anyone," Tong Airui teased with a grin, nudging her. "Come downstairs to eat; I really have important things to handle this afternoon."

Tong Airui grabbed her hand, and they went downstairs laughing.

Downstairs, the whole family was gathered, led by Tong Yao, all staring at them without flinching.

Tong Airui thought of Yi Luowa’s earlier advice and suddenly felt guilty. His actions truly affected the whole family.

He smirked, "Were you all waiting for us to eat?"

"Just waiting for you two," Tong Yao said with a smile, relieved to see the kids were fine. She ushered everyone toward the dining room.

After lunch, Tong Airui prepared to leave. Before heading out, he whispered a few words to Tong Yao.

Tong Yao followed him to the door and asked softly, "Not telling Luowa—will she get mad?"

"When Dad surprised you back then, were you upset?" Tong Airui slung an arm around his mom’s shoulder with a smile. "Mom, don’t worry. Luowa won’t get mad. I just realized today—though she’s younger than me, she’s more mature and sees the bigger picture better. Also... I owe you an apology. I was too emotional today and made you worry. I’ll try to control myself in the future."

Tong Yao gently patted her son’s cheek, "That alone makes you better than your dad. He never apologized to your grandmother after his outbursts."

"My dad doesn’t apologize to Grandma, but he always apologizes to you. That’s something to be thankful for, no? Have you ever seen him lower his head to anyone else?"

"Now you’re siding with your dad. Get going, and come back early tonight." Tong Yao chuckled, giving her son a nudge toward the car door. "Originally, we wanted you to tell Luowa about the engagement yourself. Since you’re keeping it a secret, I’ll have to inform the family so no one accidentally spills the beans."

"Thanks for that."

Tong Yao smiled as she watched her son drive away, then turned back to the living room.
