Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 265 - 252: Give Me a Chance to Make Amends (Part 2)
"Let me try," Tong Aino lifted his head to give Tong Airui a deep look. "But I could never do the things you’ve done for my sister-in-law in this lifetime, because—I’m not as shameless as you."
Haha... Maizekai couldn’t hold back and let out a laugh.
Tong Airui chuckled too. Taking advantage of his distraction, he reached out to hook Tong Aino’s neck and pulled him into his embrace, punching his back several times. "You ungrateful brat, treating my good intentions like donkey liver! I’m sitting here waiting for you to turn into a shameless man!"
Haha... The fifth brother got beaten, and no one intervened. Instead, everyone burst out laughing.
In the midst of laughter, footsteps echoed upstairs. Tong Airui looked up, and with just one glance, he was completely dumbfounded.
Yan Zi was holding Yi Luowa’s hand, guiding her slowly down the stairs.
Yi Luowa was dressed in a strapless red evening gown, revealing her exquisite collarbone and delicate shoulders. Resting above her collarbone was a pendant featuring a ruby the size of a pigeon egg, which made her porcelain skin stand out even more beautifully.
The gown clung tightly to her figure, cinched around her waist with clouds of ruffled fabric, before suddenly flaring into a wide gown hem. Star-like diamonds were scattered across the skirt, shimmering brilliantly.
Tong Airui hastily pushed Tong Aino aside, his eyes locking onto Yi Luowa’s perfectly sculpted face. She wore minimal makeup, and yet her beauty was so captivating that no one could look away.
Her lustrous chestnut brown hair was left untouched, cascading naturally over her shoulders. Her dewy, sparkling eyes seemed to dance with sunlight, glimmering as if the rays themselves were playing inside. Her curled, fluttering lashes resembled a lively little butterfly. Her moist, rosy lips curved slightly upwards, making her look even more cheerful and adorable.
Tong Airui quickly strode over, taking Yi Luowa’s hand from Yan Zi. "Aunt, is this my wife?"
"No!" Yan Zi teased with a smile, "She’s just a little fairy who’s been cultivating for a thousand years."
"Aunt~" Yi Luowa pouted coquettishly at Yan Zi.
"Alright, fine, I won’t tease you anymore." Yan Zi glanced down at Yi Luowa’s red high heels before saying to Tong Airui, "Your wife doesn’t know how to walk in high heels. Make sure you keep an eye on her so she doesn’t trip."
"I was wondering why she suddenly grew taller!" Tong Airui eyed the heel height—it was manageable, about three inches high. But seeing her awkwardly twist her foot, he felt a pang of concern and asked, "Should we swap them for flat shoes?"
"No, absolutely not. With a dress like this, how can you pair it with flat shoes?" Yan Zi interjected before Yi Luowa could respond, firmly rejecting the idea.
Yi Luowa gripped Tong Airui’s hand tightly. "How about I hold on to you and practice first?"
"I’ll take you outside for a walk," Tong Airui said, noticing everyone’s gaze fixed on his little wife. He hurriedly helped her out the door. "Once we’re at the palace, don’t leave my side—lest you fall."
"Mm." Yi Luowa immediately nodded without question. At this moment, she really did need something to lean on. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to move an inch.
But Fourth Brother wasn’t just worried about his wife tripping; he was most concerned about the men attending the banquet today. Just imagining those men’s eyes fixated on his wife made his chest tighten uncomfortably.
Under the shade of a tree, the two of them practiced walking, while the beautiful ladies upstairs began coming down one after another.
"The beauties of our family are truly a sight to behold!" Long Che said with a smile.
Tong Yao tugged at her soft white satin shawl and laughed, "A merchant praising their own goods! Stop sitting there grinning like a fool and go get changed, all of you."
Tong Aino rose to his feet. "Mom, why hasn’t Connie come down yet?"
"Maybe she’s still putting on makeup?" Tong Yao glanced upstairs. "Why don’t you go check? Her door isn’t locked at this moment."
Tong Aino acknowledged with a sound and quickly headed upstairs.
Connie was sitting at the dressing table, carefully wiping off the freshly applied lipstick.
The makeup artist stood to one side, advising uneasily, "Princess Connie, this color works well. Your complexion is a bit pale, and not wearing lipstick will make people think you’re unwell."
Connie stared at her pale face in the mirror, letting her hands drop powerlessly. "I just can’t get used to these things. You can leave now; I’ll be out shortly."
After the makeup artist left, Tong Aino entered the room.
Connie glanced at him through the mirror before continuing to wipe her lips.
Tong Aino closed the door behind him.
Connie furrowed her brow slightly and stood up.
Tong Aino spoke sincerely, "Connie, I have a few things I want to say to you. Once I’m done, I’ll leave."
Connie walked slowly to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking outside. Below, Tong Airui was carefully supporting Yi Luowa as she practiced walking. Their laughter and smiles stabbed at her heart. Connie sniffled and turned her gaze away.
Tong Aino watched her. She was wearing a knee-length white dress, its simple lines highlighting her perfect figure. Her choice in clothing, like her personality, carried a quiet elegance — the kind only noticeable if one paid close attention.
Tong Aino didn’t understand much about women’s accessories, but he did recognize her necklace, bracelet, and earrings. These three items were crafted by a master artisan from country F, purely handmade and unique in the world.
A few years ago, he had gone to find the master in hopes of buying them for his mother as a birthday gift, but he was too late; someone else had already bought them. He had asked if he could communicate with the buyer to purchase them.
The master, however, refused to disclose the buyer’s identity to protect their privacy. In the end, it was only through the master’s mediation that the buyer agreed to let him have one ring. He remembered vividly the price of that ring: 9,999,000. Who could have guessed that the buyer who made that concession was Connie?
"Didn’t you have something to say?" Connie’s cold voice broke Tong Aino’s thoughts.
Tong Aino looked up at her and said deliberately, "Connie, I was wrong. I hope you’ll give me a chance to make things right."
