Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 264 - 252: Give Me a Chance to Change (Second Update)
Breakfast had just ended when Yan Zi showed up with a few makeup artists in tow.
Tong Yao looked at her entourage and said with a laugh, "Why did you bring so many people over? Look around—how many of us actually need makeup in this house?"
Yan Zi chuckled and replied, "Even those who don’t usually wear makeup need a touch of it today. Especially you, Luowa—you’re the star of the day!"
Yi Luowa grinned warmly at Yan Zi. "Auntie, I’ve never worn makeup before. After it’s done, will I end up looking like a little ghost?"
"How could you look like a ghost? Ghosts aren’t pretty. After the makeup, you’ll transform into a little vixen. Haha... You’ll have everyone utterly smitten!"
Yi Luowa puffed up her cheeks in mock annoyance, clinging to Tong Yao’s arm. "Mom, is Auntie complimenting me or making fun of me?"
"Since when has your aunt’s mouth ever had a gate?" Tong Yao responded with a laugh. "Just let them put some foundation on you. Don’t waste her good intentions, okay?"
"Okay." Yi Luowa nodded with a smile.
Following orders, Yan Zi waited for everyone to finish breakfast, then assigned the makeup artists to each person. Tong Yao ultimately got pulled into a room as well.
Once the ladies left, Long Che glanced at the sulking Tong Aino and snapped, "Don’t sit there acting like it’s the end of the world in front of me. If you care about her so much, then go after her. The company isn’t going to collapse just because we’re short one person."
"But even if I follow her, what if she still ignores me?" Tong Aino muttered gloomily, lifting his eyes toward his father.
Long Che raised an eyebrow slightly. "Sometimes, when you need to be shameless, you’ve got to go all in."
Teng Tianxiang cast a sidelong glance at his son-in-law. "Listen to your father. Back in the day, he shamelessly tricked your mom into marrying him. That was before I found her again—if I had known, I would’ve broken his legs."
Long Che’s lips twitched downward. "Father-in-law, I’m trying to teach my son here. Can you not interrupt? Or better yet, why don’t you teach him yourself?"
"Your foolish son is your problem; I couldn’t care less about coaching him." Teng Tianxiang turned to Tong Jiaqi. "Let’s go play another round of chess. Let’s stop getting in the way here."
Teng Tianxiang and Tong Jiaqi retreated to the study, leaving Mi Xiaotian chuckling behind. "Back in the day, your dad pulled out all the stops to win your mom over. He resorted to scams, self-harm, pretending to be broke, and playing tricks..."
"Do you want to keep going?" Long Che shot him a pointed glare.
Mi Xiaotian raised a hand to half-hide his face and spoke to Tong Aino. "Find some time, and I’ll share all the stories with you in detail. Kid, you’ve got your dad’s sharp tongue, but your emotional intelligence? That clearly comes from your mom. That’s why things have turned out like this today."
"My brother’s got an even sharper tongue than me!" Tong Aino retorted stubbornly.
Mi Xiaotian laughed. "Your brother’s emotional intelligence is higher than your dad’s. Sure, he can be harsh sometimes, but he never crosses the line with your sister-in-law. That’s the difference."
"I want to speak nicely to her too, but sometimes, I just can’t control myself." Tong Aino ruffled his hair in frustration. "I was with her in Laman, and over the past couple of days, I’ve reflected a lot on myself. There were many instances where I really did go too far."
"’Too far’ doesn’t even begin to cover it—it was downright unreasonable!" Tong Airui interjected. "Family and loved ones are the closest people in our lives. Even if you can’t control yourself, you should restrain yourself. Also, Aino, let me remind you of something. Your current attitude has me questioning whether you really love Connie or not."
"Are you doubting whether I truly love Connie?" Tong Aino frowned and asked.
"The way you act sends that exact message to me! Honestly, there’s hardly anything to criticize about Connie. She’s an exceptional woman—any other man would treat her like a treasure. But you? You stomp all over her..." At this point, Tong Airui suddenly sat up straight. "Aino, could it be that you feel a sense of inferiority around Connie?"
"Inferior? Why would I feel inferior? Because she’s a princess?" Tong Aino shot back irritably.
Tong Airui tilted his head toward Long Che. "Dad, what do you make of this?"
Long Che shook his head with a helpless smile. "Duke Aino, you really need to adjust your mindset. A princess is nothing special in this family. There’s no need for you to keep acting like you’re all-powerful in front of us while trying to suppress Connie. She’s inherently a low-key and easygoing person."
Tong Aino lowered his head, quietly digesting his father and brother’s words.
"Aino, as your brother, I need to tell you one more thing: if you love someone, you have to make your feelings clear to her. She needs to know without a doubt that you love her. Only then will she feel secure enough to open her heart completely to you." Tong Airui gave him a firm pat on the shoulder. "I’ve been too caught up in my own issues lately to sit down and have a good talk with you, but it’s not too late now."
