Billionaire's Pleasure-Chapter 110: Finally
Chris’s POV
Everyone who is involved in putting on a fashion show puts in a lot of effort. There are some individuals who are responsible for a greater number of responsibilities than others, such as the dressers, stylists, designers, and managers of the venue; nevertheless, there are also some who labor in the background.
I was one of the first partners in a modeling agency, and I even walked the runway at one of their fashion shows. I attempted to flee, but there was typically too much to do and not enough people to complete it. Despite my efforts, I was unable to escape.
We are quite fortunate that Mia did not attend this event. After our conversation, her physician gave her the recommendation that she should skip the event and instead take the day off. I relayed this information to her. Even though she wasn’t quite that far along in her pregnancy yet, the pressure was too great for her condition with the baby, and things only became worse as the due date approached. Even though she wasn’t even that far along in her pregnancy yet. I really didn’t want to deal with any issues right now.
She was already experiencing emotional and hormonal ups and downs in addition to uneasiness due to the fact that she was expecting a child, and Lea was being overly demanding of her. While simultaneously ensuring that Mia’s replacement was adequately filling her shoes, I feverishly attempted to place the models in the correct positions. When I had a chance to myself, I went outside to where the smokers were sitting. Even though I never smoked, I appreciate being in a setting where other people make an effort to step away from their screens every so often. Addiction is a terrible thing to have to deal with, but how many of us who don’t smoke will take the time to relax for five minutes during the day? Smokers have no choice since they are forced to cope with addiction.
It is to one’s advantage to regroup.
Tommy made his way out to the porch not long after. It seemed as though he was nervous. As I stood some distance away from the smokers in order to avoid breathing in the actual smoke, he came over and stood next to me.
"That place is utter mayhem on the inside."
I blinked. Always a risk associated with the occupation.
He put his hands all the way into the pockets of his pants. It’s a good thing Mia wasn’t supposed to be here because I was starting to get concerned about her and dread the worst-case scenario.
I kept mute. I didn’t want to talk too much since I didn’t want to give the impression that I was unduly concerned. However, the fact that Tommy was nervous came as a shock to me. Naturally, he was concerned about her well-being; nevertheless, judging from what Mia shared with me about their argument, it appeared that Tommy did not want her to keep the kid if she was unable to provide care for it on her own. Mia shared this information with me.
Before that, I had been avoiding him, so I asked, "How do you feel about the baby?" Previously, I had been avoiding him. We hadn’t had the opportunity to talk to one another in a few weeks.
Tommy gave a shrug. "There is nothing I can do to stop her from keeping the child because she has already made up her mind to do so; yet, I believe that she is doing the wrong thing, so there is not much of a choice."
I grimaced. "Why?"
"The scumbag who got her pregnant to do better than simply allowing her to go through it alone. She hasn’t even graduated high school yet, she doesn’t have a job or a reputation, and she’s dealing with all of this on her own."
While I was swallowing, nerves seized hold of my stomach and turned it to the side slightly.
I wish her situation were better, but I can understand why she wants to keep the child, and I agree that becoming a parent for the first time is the most wonderful thing that could possibly happen to a person.
I blinked. These were the typical worries that were brought up by parents. My throat was washed and sanitized. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
I needed to be there for Mia because she relied on me, and I needed to say what I needed to say when I needed to say it. I needed to say it now because if I didn’t, I would never have the nerve to say, "I wanted to talk to you about something." I was unable to conceal the information because doing so would prevent me from completing the task at hand.
Tommy turned his back on me and muttered, "God, I hope it’s good news—I could really use some right now," as he faced me.
Since I was about to be such a downer, I had to push myself to swallow my saliva.
As I waited for a response, time seemed to stand still for me; this was an extremely important moment. "I’m the baby’s father," I said, and the tension that was already there in my body became even more intense.
Tommy frowned and said, "Wait."
It seemed as though he was confused.
"My name is on the baby’s birth certificate as the father, as Megan and I shared a bed."
.
Tommy’s face was expressionless for a while before he realized what I had said. At first, the amused expression in his eyes suggested that I was joking; but, when I did not answer with "No, I am not kidding," the amusement faded and anger grew.
"What the hell is this?"
I gave my shoes a cursory glance before nodding and saying, "I know. However, I want you to know that I want to take care of her and give her the life that she deserves. If anyone can do that, it’s going to be me." After that, I returned my attention to my shoes.
"You simpleton!"
I could feel Tommy’s palm tightening into a fist as he lunged at me, but he stopped short of hitting me in the face when he noticed that someone was watching us. I was able to avoid getting wounded.
"It wasn’t planned, if that’s what you mean," I responded, still trying to fathom how close I had been to breaking my nose. "It just happened, but I intend to be accountable for her in the future."
Tommy’s mouth appeared to be open, as though he wanted to say something, but he was so incensed that he was unable to utter anything. As a result, instead of exploding in anger as I was sure he wanted to, he simply turned around and walked away.
I had to respect his ability, but I didn’t respect his space; I followed him. I needed to get this out now, for the last time; otherwise, I would never have the courage to talk about it again.
"Tommy, I couldn’t be more on board with this. I cherish her."
I tried to read his frozen expression—his straight neck, his tensed shoulders—but all I saw was a fire in his eyes as he turned to face me.
"You want to tell me you love her after you beat her up?"
I was adamant and said, "I didn’t understand it at the time, but I do now that I spend more time with her. She has captured my heart. She is a stunning woman who will make an incredible addition to any family as a parent. And I want to be the kind of husband and father that she deserves, not to mention the kind of father this child needs for a father. Tommy, you know me. Who I am to you. You said that you are a guy of honesty."
"When I expressed that, I was referring to the dang company!"
The dad waved his hands around and said, "I wasn’t talking about you sleeping with my daughter and then being with her."
I reached into my pocket and pulled out the black velvet box that had been bothering me since the beginning of the night. After opening the box, I displayed the ring to Tommy.
"Tommy, I want to marry her. She’s more to me than just a floozy. She is the complete package. I want her to fulfill every position. You stated that you have faith in me to behave in an ethical manner and that you believe the business might assist me in establishing an empire."
Tommy shook his head as he looked over my shoulder and said to me, "Chris, it’s just not the same. My business or my daughter? How are these two things similar to one another? "
"I understand," I responded while nodding my head, "but I want you to know that it is my intention to treat her with kindness and to never disappoint you as a father."
Tommy heaved a sigh and said, "I can’t say this is what I would have picked for her, but if it’s what she wants..." He looked up at me and continued, "She’s old enough to decide for herself so if she’s happy I’m happy." Tommy then turned his attention back to the ring. "However, I vow to God that I would kill you with my own two hands if you do anything to harm her." I nodded, knowing that.
