Billionaire's Pleasure-Chapter 111: Say Yes
Mia’s POV 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
I decided to cease going to work. I finally came to terms with the fact that I was too far along in my pregnancy to keep moving at the pace that the fashion business expected of me and that there was no way I could conceal the fact that I was pregnant anyhow. In addition to that, I let Chris choose how he wanted to pay for everything. I had long since accepted the fact that he would always be a part of my life. Even though it wasn’t what I was expecting, it didn’t turn out to be such a horrible thing in the end.
Compassion, honesty, and determination were all traits that Chris demonstrated. It made sense to me why my father wanted him to work for the company. In my opinion, he would be just as devoted to a life partner as any other person.
In spite of the fact that I was unable to get employment there, my goal was to continue be involved in the fashion industry. When he came to see me, I listened intently to everything he had to say about what had been going on in the office. After learning about them in various publications, such as journals and newspapers, I started going as a guest to fashion shows whenever there were any.
Tonight was a night that fell into that category. The concert took place at a conference hall, which had been repurposed into an extravaganza for the occasion. It was difficult to tell apart from anything else. Due to the fact that it was one of the most important exhibitions of the year, everybody who was engaged was going through a lot of tension and anxiety. I’m relieved that I wasn’t a part of that situation. I was swollen every day, fatigued all the time, and either in tears or exhausted all the time. I was six months pregnant.
After making my way to the chairs, I selected the one that Chris had set out especially for me. When I attended, he made sure that I could sit in the front row with him so that I wouldn’t miss anything that was going on. When I observed things from this vantage point, I uncovered a new love for fashion, and I made the decision that I wanted to be a part of the fashion industry even if I wasn’t in the back, working my fingers to the bone.
The chairs were quickly reaching capacity. The atmosphere was permeated with intoxicating anticipation for the performance, as well as background music and the chatter of those who had already taken their seats. I looked in Brian’s way with wide eyes and gave him a glance. Before proceeding, my dad stopped to give me a little wave as he walked by. I waved back and asked, "What would he think if he saw Chris and I sitting together?" He waved back and asked the same question. He was only there for a few of the performances. Recently, he had been focusing a lot more on his work and not as much on socializing.
The performance had begun, and it was fantastic. It was lingerie and swimwear, and the designers had come up with some innovative ensembles that were going to shake up the fashion business. The content of the articles is almost entirely predictable by me at this point.
Chris joined me at my table, but he was a little bit late.
He apologized but said that there was a lot to do. While we were both watching the show, I gave him a light squeeze on the hand. The designer came out and waved after the presentation of the line they had created.
After immediately saying "I’ll be right back," Chris exited the room. I was able to see him leave. During a pause, there was nobody on the ramp, so people stood around talking to each other and looking around. I did some looking around myself as well. This was not something that was anticipated to happen.
Chris came on the ramp and moved to the middle of it once he did so. What in the name of all that is holy was that man doing?
"I would ask that you listen to what I have to say, ladies and gentlemen."
As they waited to hear what he had to say, all of the people in the room fell into complete silence. This was not the regular pattern of how things occurred. I was expecting him to warn us about some kind of urgent situation at any moment.
"I believed that I had everything under control; I believed that I was living the dream with models and money, but it turns out that I was wrong. It wasn’t models or money that I needed; I needed that person, and her name was Mia. A short while ago, I was attending one of these fashion events where I met a woman who completely flipped my life on its head."
My face immediately began to bleed as soon as he mentioned my name. What are you doing at the moment? As he turned to face me, I made a mouthing sound. He flashed me a grin and motioned for me to come up on stage with him by extending his hand. Even if I had been able to scale the ramp, it was not going to be possible for me to do so.
"Can you help me convince Mia Wilson to become my wife?"
When the crowd let out a loud collective gasp, it almost caused my heart to stop beating. Was that a marriage proposal from Chris Walter? Everyone turned their attention to me at that moment. Chris’s face showed that he was anticipating my response.
I greeted Chris with a friendly smile and asked him, "Are you going to stay up there?" After that, he leapt down the ramp and rushed over to where I was standing. My hands were taken from me by him.
"Say you’ll marry me," he said. "I love you. I long to be in your company. I would like for us to be like a family."
I took a full breath in.
"I will marry you."
In point of fact, I had been giving this a lot of thought for some time. I longed for his company so badly. I want to tie the knot with him. I had shifted from being altruistic for his sake in the past, when I hadn’t wanted him to be engaged, to wanting him to be involved now. I was hoping that he would start contributing straight immediately.
He flashed a grin before producing a box made of velvet. When he opened it, I responded by putting my hand over my mouth as soon as I saw the ring that was inside. The item was removed by Brian, but before I could offer my assistance to him, I looked around the room for my dad. I was able to spot him among the crowd. As he looked at me, he had a grin on his face.
As I turned to face Chris, who was also smiling at me, I offered him my hand so that he could put the ring on my finger. As I did so, he grinned back at me.
And in that same moment, I went through a transformation in which I felt complete, at peace, and hopelessly in love with this person.
