Chapter 490: Sweet as a rose

The trail of roses didn’t lie, and Andrew found Ellis and Richard in one of the more secluded bathrooms. The sounds of retching could be heard as soon as the door opened, along with Richard’s voice, soft and worried, trying to comfort the other man.

"It’s okay, Ellis. Get it all out." Richard was telling him. "I’m here." He was being supportive of his partner, and Andrew’s heart squeezed. It was good of him to be here. He was glad that Richard didn’t listen to Ellis when he no doubt told Richard to go back out and enjoy himself with others.

"Richard? Ellis?" Andrew called, not wanting to surprise the men. He was checking up on them, not scaring them. Ellis didn’t stop throwing up, but the scrambling sound of Richard getting up and coming around the corner told Andrew all that he needed to know.

His face was pale, his eyes were big brown discs in his face.

"Andy? What are you doing here?" He asked and Andrew let out a dry laugh.

"Do you honestly think that no one has noticed how terrible Ellis has been looking? We’ve all been worried, and I’ve been sent." Andrew said and Richard looked torn about that. Andrew reached out, squeezing Richard’s shoulder. "I’ll apologise when he isn’t over the porcelain, alright? I was out of line. I of all people should know better." Andrew said with a soft smile and Richard exhaled before he nodded.

"Yeah. Okay." He agreed, and after he had gotten over the initial worry of Andrew showing up, he looked relieved to know that he wasn’t on his own. Richard hesitantly led Andrew around the corner to the open stall where Ellis was bent over, leaning against the toilet, looking exhausted. He wasn’t even throwing up anything anymore, just heaving because his body told him so. It was painful to watch, but not as painful as his body forcing him to do so.

"Ellis, sweetheart, I’m here to help if I can." Andrew said softly and watched as Ellis’ body twitched. "You don’t need to say anything. I won’t harm you or anything like that, alright? Maxwell sent me." Andrew told him and watched as Ellis turned weary eyes towards him.

"How can you help me?" He asked and Andrew was honest. He gave a shrug.

"Unsure as of yet." Andrew told them honestly and watched as Ellis’ gaze widened. "However, I was able to soothe Amir last time, and a few times after. Max reminded me of that, and if I am able to soothe your nerves even a little bit, I would like to attempt that. Is that alright?" Andrew asked. He would not move forward with the plan against Ellis’ desires.

He was clearly hesitant and nervous. He was about to respond when his body shuddered and he turned to the toilet again. Andrew felt his face frown as he watched the man. Richard looked positively ill at hearing his partner retch.

"Richard, go in and put your hand on his back." Andrew told him softly and Richard did just that. He patted his back, whispering words that Andrew intentionally didn’t listen to until Ellis shuddered, leaning against Richard’s shoulder when he was finished. Andrew stayed where he was standing.

"How does it work?" Ellis asked. "What did you do last time?" He didn’t look at Andrew and Andrew nodded slowly.

"Well, I held him in my lap, I sat near him. Whatever you would like and are comfortable with, Ellis." Andrew told him sincerely. He heard Ellis gulp loudly before the man let out a shaky breath.

"Can you hold me? My body feels too weak to do anything else." Ellis admitted and Richard let out a soft noise. He was clearly upset with how ill Ellis had gotten.

"Richard, can you go to the bar and ask for a litre of orange juice? Like, the whole box and a glass? If he continues to throw up, it’s better for him to at least have something in his stomach. That, and the orange juice will taste good." Andrew said and then confirmed with Ellis that he wanted that flavour. Ellis gave a weak smile.

"Orange juice sounds good." He rasped and Richard was off like a light. The door was closing behind him as Ellis and Andrew stared at each other.

"I’m sorry for what I said before." Andrew said, meaning it. "I should know better than to ask about other’s families. I won’t bring it up again." Andrew promised and watched as Ellis looked emotional for a moment before he sighed, shaking his head.

"No. It’s not your fault. I just...I just can’t stand to see their faces when they find out not only am I pregnant, but by a fellow omega? They are going to try to break us up." Ellis said, and Andrew watched as his face crumpled. "I just don’t want to be reminded of that." He rasped and Andrew got down on his knees, creeping forward.

"Hey, they aren’t going to be able to do that. You know I just saved someone from being kidnapped. I’m not going to let that happen to you either, Ellis. Nor the little baby in your stomach either." Andrew told him and Ellis gave a wet laugh.

"Yeah?" He asked and Andrew smiled.

"Of course. You’re my brother-in-law. There is no way I am going to let anything happen to you." Andrew told him seriously and watched as Ellis blinked slowly, before the tears just started falling. Andrew, unable to help himself, gently reached for the other man, picking him up with that inhuman strength he’d inherited by being a true alpha and carefully nestled the man into his lap. Ellis tucked himself against Andrew and sobbed.

Andrew rocked them gently, patting Ellis’ back, not saying anything as the other man cried out his fear and worries. Andrew didn’t mind. His suit was dark enough that you wouldn’t even be able to tell.

What you would be able to tell was the fact that Andrew was covered in two other omega scents, but Andrew knew that Maxwell would be okay with it. Roses and...lavender. It was almost funny how both men had floral scents that somehow weren’t too brash against each other and complemented each other.

The rose scent was covering the lavender scent, which given the context, made sense. Newer omega, a worried omega, Richard was going to cover Ellis’ more subtle scent. However, he was releasing his scent more now that he wasn’t throwing up and was instead crying.

Andrew turned to Ellis’ stomach.

"Hey, baby, why are you making your Mom? Dad? Feeling so bad?" Andrew turned to look to Ellis and Ellis let out a hiccup.

"D-Daddy. Ricky is going to be Dad." He clarified and Andrew nodded.

"Why are you making your Daddy so ill, hmm? He cares so much about you, but all you can do is make him feel ill? That’s not very nice, is it? He needs to eat a lot of things to make you big and strong so you can meet your aunts and uncles and cousins who want to meet you. Making him throw up so much is going to make it hard on him." Andrew scolded and Ellis let out a laugh.

"They’re just a baby." Ellis said, protecting his unborn child from Andrew’s scolding. Andrew let out an exaggerated sigh.

"See? He’s even protecting you from my scolding. What a good Daddy you have, hmm? So stop making him feel so ill, alright?" Ellis let out a light laugh, and Andrew knew that was a success on his part.

Richard was back shortly after that, his chest heaving. He had two litres of orange juice under his arm, and a rocks glass in his hand. It was clear he’d run, and he didn’t give a damn what others thought of him doing so. Ellis relaxed in Andrew’s arms as he saw his partner.

Richard tore the little foil cover off of the orange juice and poured a shaky glass of the juice into the cup before handing it over to Ellis.

Ellis took it with equally shaky hands, but Andrew was monitoring him.

"Take little sips. You’ve been throwing up. Take your time, alright?" Andrew encouraged and Ellis nodded, following his instructions. He got about half of the glass down before his face lost all colour and Richard lunged in and took the glass from his hand. Andrew was with him as he threw up what he’d just drank, but he seemed to feel better when he finished retching.

"That one didn’t last as long." He rasped and Andrew was glad to hear it. Even Richard looked a little relieved.

"More orange juice?" Andrew asked carefully and Ellis nodded. He reached out for the glass and Richard handed it over easily.

It was about half an hour later before Maxwell came searching for them. It was clear he was surprised to find Richard sitting next to Andrew, the juice boxes empty and Ellis passed out on Andrew’s chest as they sat in a bathroom stall.

Maxwell wasn’t alone. He also had May and Luis with him as well. Both of the older women relaxed when they realised it was Ellis on Andrew’s chest. Maxwell let out a sigh.

"How is he doing?" He asked softly and Richard answered instead. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"He got almost a litre of orange juice down. He finally stopped throwing up, but I think I’m going to go with Andrew’s suggestion and take him to the hospital tomorrow so that they can check on him. We need to go home. It’s not good for him to be around so many scents. He was trying to be brave, but it’s too soon to be doing stuff like this." Richard admitted, looking upset with himself.

May moved to her son, giving his shoulder a squeeze.

"He’s stubborn, just quieter about it. He’ll come around to your suggestion now that he’s experienced it and doesn’t want to risk the baby. Do you want us to get a car for you, Ricky?" She asked and he nodded. Luis pulled out a phone and had it to her ear.

"Not a worry. We’ll have the two of you out of here in a heartbeat. Can you move him, Andy?" Luis asked and Andrew nodded.

"He’s out like a light. About as light as a feather too." Andrew said, slowly getting to his feet. Richard scrambled to his feet as well, watching his partner being carried by another with a worried expression on his face. Andrew smiled. "Don’t worry. I’m mostly using my scent to block out the other scents he doesn’t want to smell. I’m sure the others will agree that this place just smells like you two." Andrew told him and Richard swallowed.

"Sorry Andy." He looked ill for even thinking a bad thought about Andrew and Andrew just laughed.

"It’s okay to be possessive. Do you think I am unfamiliar with those feelings? I just know that Maxy likes me the most and that helps a lot. Get some confirmation from Ellis when you get home. I’m sure he’ll be happy to hear you were jealous." Andrew told him with a smile and Maxwell laughed.

"I’m sure he will be, if I know him at all. Now, let’s get you two out of here and back home to rest. Tell Ellis to get better, and take the time he needs. If he attempts to come back to work and he’s not 100%, I’m taking him to the hospital myself." Maxwell warned and Richard smiled.

"Understood, boss." Richard teased and Maxwell rolled his eyes, but smiled.
