(BL)Alpha Made-Chapter 502: Maxwell, you don’t need to threaten the police
The recounting went well. Andrew felt like they were actually taking what he was saying seriously and George only had to interrupt a few times to remind them to stay on track. They could ask their questions after.
Andrew went through two cups of tea, his throat parched from stress, but the Detective never showed any sign of disbelief.
Andrew only found out later why.
While the document that Andrew had seen at the top of the pile in the office hadn’t pertained to him, not directly at the very least, there were documented mentions of Andrew, by name, in the files in the files cabinets in both rooms. They also found several more secret compartments that had more files and while the Detective couldn’t reveal what was on them since it was an active investigation...There was just something in his eyes that told Andrew that he had seen the truth depths of what Tracey and Heather had planned to get up to.
He had looked upon the evil they had started, and that had only terrified him.
The questions he asked were also related to how their relationship had formed, what Andrew knew of the aunt who had helped his ex get a job at the company, and more details about certain aspects of his containment and how he had escaped.
Andrew did feel regretful that he couldn’t give more when it came to how he had escaped. It was a blur, and when he explained the situation, the Detective just nodded.
He explained that he’d been speaking to other medical professionals in the field, kindly provided by the Beckett family and other interested parties, and they explained that with the combination of adrenaline, his fresh manifestation, and the fact that he had manifested as a true alpha, things could have gone to several extremes.
Most people would not have survived such a serious situation. Most people, in fact, probably would have fallen unconscious after fighting off his captor. His brain pushing through and making sure that he was unable to remember everything was a defense tactic. There were a few ways that they could attempt to delve into those memories, but the Detective was not encouraging it.
He basically thought that aspect was a bit too unstudied for his comfort, and he didn’t need the information. They wouldn’t be able to hide for long now that the police were on it, especially him. Andrew had no idea what made him different from the next detective, but he wasn’t going to push the man down.
He had no desire to do so.
The whole thing lasted about two hours, give or take, and Andrew worried about how Maxwell was doing constantly. He shouldn’t have worried too much.
When he eventually left the small room, his stomach growling, he found Maxwell sitting at someone’s actual desk, his own laptop set up and he was on a phone call while talking to someone. Presumably it was one of his secretaries since Ellis was at a doctor’s appointment to check on the little one growing inside of him.
When Maxwell caught sight of Andrew, he paused, quickly finished up his conversation with whoever he was speaking to on the phone before getting up, brushing himself off and throwing himself at Andrew.
Andrew caught him, smiling as Maxwell wrapped around him tightly.
"They were nice to you?" Maxwell asked sweetly, and Andrew felt the Detective and anyone listening in stiffen. Andrew gave a soft chuckle as he wrapped his arms around Maxwell and hugged him tightly to him. He bent, pressing his face against the top of his head, inhaling his scent.
He was sure he was shaking, and he could feel how Maxwell was expanding, ready to explode. Andrew wasn’t sure who he was going to get angry at, just that Maxwell would get angry. Should Andrew have thought it was a bad trait? Maybe, but Maxwell was getting angry on his behalf. He was furious over the mere concept that Andrew could have been treated poorly.
"It’s good to have you in my arms." Andrew whispered, speaking soft enough that only Maxwell could hear. Maxwell deflated slightly, burrowing into Andrew’s chest.
"Are you okay?" Maxwell asked, his voice softer, more sincere. He wasn’t attempting to threaten others with Andrew’s response, but Andrew didn’t think for a second if he came up with a negative answer that Maxwell wouldn’t attack.
"I’m okay. Just...shaken. Hungry too. That took a lot out of me. I don’t think I’ll need to come back, at least not to recount it again. Just probably some follow up questions." Andrew said. Maxwell jerked his head out of his arms and glared at the Detective, clearly confirming if that was true.
The Detective smiled at Maxwell, attempting to lighten the mood.
"Dr. Knox is correct, Mr. Beckett. We have two recordings, and Mr. Hunter also confirmed that." The Detective confirmed and Maxwell sniffed, before burying his face in Andrew’s chest again.
"Alright. Well, if we’re done here, why don’t we get a late lunch and then head back to the office to wrap things up, hmm? How do you feel about that?" Maxwell asked, leaning his head back to scan Andrew’s face. Andrew felt his chest tighten.
"Don’t you have meetings? I wouldn’t want to make your day harder." Andrew told him, meaning it, but Maxwell wouldn’t have any of it.
"Who matters more to me? You, or some dumbass alpha who thinks he can still fuck me even with your giant warning on my finger?" Maxwell asked, flashing his engagement ring for emphasis. Andrew’s shoulders tensed at Maxwell’s crude way of saying the truth, before Andrew burst into laughter.
"Well, I can’t exactly argue with you when you put it like that." Andrew said, grinning and Maxwell smiled slowly in response. His smile faded as he reached up with his left hand, ring on full display as he touched Andrew’s cheek.
"Are you sure you’re okay? You look pale. Do you want me to drive?" Maxwell asked tenderly and Andrew felt cared for in that moment. Andrew leaned into the touch, closing his eyes and sighing.
"I will be. I’m not lying. I’m okay, just...it’s what I was telling you about before." Andrew said and Maxwell scanned his face, making sure he was telling the truth before he nodded. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Okay. I’ll believe you, this time. Should we get out of here? George, you can just message Dad." Maxwell told the lawyer who chuckled and nodded.
"Sounds good, Mr. Beckett. Pleasure meeting you, Dr. Knox. I’ll hopefully only see you at the wedding next." George said and Andrew smiled, nodding.
"I hope so as well." Andrew said and the Detective scoffed.
"Do you have so little faith in our team that you wouldn’t hear a word from us for several months? We’re slow now, but I promise you’ll have at least one or two updates before the wedding. Especially since we have one of the perpetrators in custody right now." The Detective said and Andrew didn’t want to burst his bubble.
Andrew knew that the only reason that this was getting as much attention as it was, was because he was a victim that couldn’t be ignored. That, and the families supporting him wouldn’t let the crime be ignored. Normally families wouldn’t want it to be this big, but Maxwell, no, the Beckett’s wanted justice, so they were going to get justice.
Thinking on it now, Andrew had probably gotten help from his Mom, maybe even Mr. Dalton when he’d gotten in trouble before too. He’d seen how it’d gone for a few of the other people of colour in his life.
There was a reason Michael worked so hard to stay in people’s good graces.
’It’ll be a good wedding gift, then." Andrew said, wrapping it up and ending the conversation.
George and the Detective saw Andrew and Maxwell out of the building. George actually had a bit more business to attend to, so would see them later and Maxwell was busy rushing Andrew out of the building because he already had a lunch place in mind for them.
It was only much later that Andrew found out that George was having a serious conversation with the Detective about what the Beckett’s were seeking from this versus what Andrew was going to tell them that he was seeking. The man had already been briefed by Thomas and Maxwell.
Andrew only found out about that when he had the conversation with George, months later.

The rest of January was a blur. It was full of Andrew getting his next round of courses ready, speaking to instructors, inspecting the cafeteria, visiting the children, making sure that everyone was safe. Basically, he was just busy distracting himself from everything that was going on.
The biggest thing that happened near the end of January was when Amir and Ben were followed by another car and nearly ran off the road and into the middle of traffic if their security team hadn’t also been trailing them.
It was terrifying, and very scary. It also proved that tragically, Maxwell, his family, and Kim were right to be worried about how they would retaliate. It could not be traced back to the Abraham family, and no one was actually hurt beyond being severely shaken, but Andrew couldn’t even begin to imagine if that had been Jordan and Rose, or Richard and Ellis.
He felt sick to his stomach even thinking about it.
Maxwell made sure he went to therapy twice a week for two weeks after that since he wanted Andrew to get his feelings out with someone else. Maxwell told him that Andrew wasn’t to blame for someone else’s stupid actions, but it took four sessions for Andrew to actually believe it.
Amir and Ben were moved into another house shortly after, and so were Maxwell’s family. Andrew would have felt bad if the whole Beckett clan, William included, hadn’t come down on him, eyes blazing, and told him there was only one group responsible for this.
The Abrahams. Andrew wasn’t an Abraham, nor was Nicole or Noah, so he could shut up, and help them put the couch into place.
Andrew shut his mouth, especially when Noah and Nicole were brought up. They hadn’t officially changed their names, but it was nice that they included them also being excluded from the Abrahams. He was sure that had to do with the fact that Nicole was very upset after she heard of the attack.
The Beckett’s were probably getting tired with how anxious and worried the three siblings were. Truly showed that nature and nurture were alive and well and they all shared good and bad traits.
