(BL)Alpha Made-Chapter 506: A brand new family
Jordan actually made a pretty quick recovery. It was honestly like that man was determined to get better so that his wife wouldn’t worry as much, and so that he could hold his child for longer. It was funny, watching the man that Andrew had considered shy before, maybe even quiet, get louder and bolder.
Andrew had a feeling that he shared a lot more traits with Jordan than he originally thought, especially when Andrew had walked in on an argument that Rose and Jordan were having one day. It had looked like a showdown between a big cat and a small, stubborn dog.
Jordan won, of course. Rose folding like a damn chair when Jordan gave her a particularly harsh look. Andrew couldn’t blame her. How was anyone supposed to fight against their injured partner who had just brought life into the world? Andrew knew that Maxwell would be able to bat an eyelash at him if their roles were reversed and he would fold without him even asking.
That was, if Maxwell was okay after giving birth. Being around a bunch of omega men who had given birth recently wasn’t giving Andrew any happy feelings about his decision. He knew he needed to talk to Maxwell about it, but it never seemed like the right time to.
He had tentatively broached the topic with his therapist at their last session, but that was two days after the traumatic birth of Fern and he wouldn’t have another session for at least another two weeks.
That was a good sign in Andrew’s mind, but also...
He needed to speak to Maxwell about it. He couldn’t let this worry fester inside of him, especially when it wasn’t even his body he was worried about. It was Maxwell’s. He was so worried about Maxwell and how his body would take to being pregnant. Honestly, he didn’t think Maxwell had enough meat on his bones to get through the process safely.
How the hell was he supposed to bring that topic up without it sounding insane? It wasn’t like Andrew wasn’t trying to fatten up the other man, but he ate like a damn bird.
Andrew was getting worked up when he was just in the room with Jordan and Rose, so he pushed those thoughts away. His job right now was to be of help to Rose and Jordan, study, and help with Fern.
Being with Fern certainly helped Andrew calm down.
Andrew had always known that he liked kids, hell, everyone knew that he liked kids. His Mom used to tell stories of how Andrew, as a kid, would play with the younger kids at the playground, but never before asking their parents if it was okay. He was such a good kid, and a good big brother that most of the parents had thought it was sweet. His Mom used to laugh about how they would ask when he would be getting a little sibling he could play with.
It only took a few decades, but Andrew finally got them. Andrew smiled at that thought as he stared at the sleeping baby in their crib.
Fern could have gone home with Rose, but everyone agreed it was better for Jordan’s mental health if Fern stayed with him while he needed to remain in the hospital. He could have been sent home, but Jordan was okay remaining in the hospital and William confirmed that this room was reserved for family members of the Beckett family who gave birth.
It was the reason that the room was so large, and why the space was so familiar. Andrew hadn’t realised that this was the same room that Amir had given birth in, and would be the room that Maxwell gave birth in.
Andrew was thankful for the light knock that sounded on the door, bringing Rose, Andrew and Jordan’s heads up to look towards the door.
"Come in." Rose called, and in strolled one of the siblings that Andrew had been thinking about.
Nicole was now well enough to move around the hospital with the help of her ever present and just as loving fiancé, Elijah. The man may have looked thin, but he was strong, and Andrew’s expression softened as they entered.
Nicole’s expression warmed as she spotted everyone in the room.
"I was just going out for my walk and decided to stop by. I hope I’m not bothering you." Nicole said and Rose got up, her expression softening as she reached for the other alpha woman and gave her a hug.
"Absolutely not. Come on in. Unfortunately, the star of the show is asleep, so you’ll just have to deal with us." Rose said, being dramatic but Nicole gave the other woman a tight hug in return.
"Never. Fern needs his beauty rest. He’s got so many things to grow right now." Nicole said, pulling back before looking at Jordan. "How are you feeling, Daddy?" She asked, her voice sweet and Jordan gave her a warm, content smile.
"Like garbage, but Rosie keeps saying I’m pretty garbage." Jordan said and Nicole laughed. She pulled back from Rose but gave her shoulder a squeeze. Elijah was next to her, his hand on her elbow, ready to catch her if she decided to tip to the side.
"Awe. How sweet of her. I have to agree. Elijah said the same thing to me." She told him, and they shared a secret smile. Both of them being injured and having loving partners that cared for them deeply, maybe even more so because they were injured.
Andrew was glad he was over with Fern, otherwise he might get jealous over the fact that Maxwell wasn’t here and he couldn’t participate in the cute moment.
Andrew turned his gaze to his sleeping nephew and smiled. He was scrunching up his face, probably pooping in his sleep and Andrew chuckled. What a cutie.
"Andy, don’t think I don’t see you over there. Come here." Nicole ordered and Andrew smiled. He looked towards her, and made a grand show of moving towards her before he wrapped his arms carefully around her and hugged her against his chest.
"I was worried you were never going to call me over." Andrew pouted and Nicole laughed. Andrew watched as Elijah and Rose hugged, Elijah having enough faith in Andrew to know that he would not let Nicole fall.
"I would never do such a thing." Nicole said fiercely, hugging him tightly. "I was actually hoping that you were here. I wanted-Elijah and I wanted to speak to you about something important." Nicole said. Andrew grew curious.
Something important? He wondered what that could be. He wasn’t worried though. She didn’t sound scared, just nervous, and Andrew would do anything to soothe her worries.
He pulled away so that he could scan her face. She looked even more nervous as Andrew kept his hands on her shoulders.
"Of course we can talk. Is it okay if we stay in the room or do you want to chat somewhere more private?" Andrew asked. Nicole glanced at Elijah and the others in the room and swallowed.
"I think, as long as Rose and Jordan are okay with it-"
"You are welcome to chat here, Nicole. Don’t even worry about something so silly." Rose said, waving a dismissive hand. Jordan chuckled.
"Fern sleeps better when people are chatting around him. I have to get him used to how extraverted the rest of the family is from a young age." Jordan told her and Nicole’s eyes watered for a second because Jordan so easily called her family. She took a shaky breath, nodded, and within a few moments, the three of them were settled just a few feet away from Rose and Jordan for a small bit of privacy.
Elijah and Rose had gotten the chairs together so that Andrew could lead Nicole there. She sat next to Elijah, their hands woven together as Nicole gathered the strength to speak to Andrew. Andrew waited. Whatever she wanted to talk to him about, it was serious for her. Andrew wasn’t going to diminish that for her.
"Andy, I’m going to ask this for the last time. Were you serious when you offered Noah and I to take on the Knox name?" Nicole asked and Andrew blinked. He felt his body stiffen, but not in anger.
This was a serious conversation for both of them. Andrew was sure that this was their answer. He’d been waiting for them for a while. Noah hadn’t gotten back to Andrew yet, but he had a strange feeling that he was waiting for Nicole to give her his answer first.
Noah was a big brother too. He would want to make sure that his younger sister was taken care of too.
"I would never joke about something like that. Of course I meant it when I said you could take my name, and my Mom’s name." Andrew told them sincerely. Nicole and Elijah glanced at each other and Andrew could see that Elijah squeezed Nicole’s hand. Giving her comfort. Giving her strength.
Nicole turned, meeting Andrew’s gaze head on.
"We would like to take you up on that. If that’s alright with you." Andrew was across the small space in between one heartbeat and the next. His arms were wrapped around both of them, pulling them in closely as tears made his vision blurry.
"If it’s alright with me? Are you serious? Oh Nicole, Elijah. I would never say no." Andrew said, and Nicole let out a wet laugh.
"Does this mean we’re really siblings now?" Nicole asked and Andrew squeezed her before pulling back, looking the both of them over. Even Elijah was crying, but they were all crying happy tears.
"You were my sister the moment you came to meet me in that coffee shop, Nicole. Always. My Mom would have loved to have you as her daughter." Andrew told her, the highest praise he could give her. Nicole closed her eyes, tears trickling down her eyes as she sobbed.
Andrew wasn’t much better.
Then, another set of arms wrapped around them and Rose let out a sweet, soft sigh.
"Welcome to the family, sis. Elijah, I hope you like the nickname Ellie."
