(BL)Alpha Made-Chapter 507: We can work together, as a team
Andrew was on a high. He had only received good news after good news.
They had called Noah after that. He had been busy with work, but he called back shortly after and Nicole gushed, telling him that they had finally made their decision and that they were going to go through with it. When Nicole and Elijah married, they would take on the Knox name and they were going to go through with transferring Nicole from the Abraham family registry and into the Knox one.
Noah looked as if he had always known that this was going to happen, and when he met Andrew's gaze in the video call, Andrew knew. He let out a slow, soft smile and nodded. Noah exhaled sharply.
"Alright. Let's all do it. Doing two at once is better, right?" Noah asked and Nicole had to tune down her squeal as she didn't want to wake up the baby. Her joy was infectious, and they had celebratory sushi before Nicole and Elijah took their leave. Nicole was growing tired, and Elijah had some work he needed to do back at their room.
Andrew saw them off, before he had to leave shortly after as well. Rose and Jordan were glowing with excitement for him. Rose even made a joke.
"Now, if you take on Maxwell's last name, your Mom's legacy is going to live on. You know Nicole and Noah are going to carry that on with their children. Did you see the way that Elijah looked at Fern? I can see a baby in their future, and soon." Rose had teased, and Andrew couldn't even hide the smile that he had.
However, he'd made a promise to himself, and now, he needed to fulfil it.
He had to head home and have a conversation with Maxwell about his fears.
Of course, he told Maxwell the good news. He told everyone the good news. Luis and Thomas had been ecstatic for Andrew, and Thomas said he would get the ball rolling on his end first. He had connections, and could easily let them know what information that they needed to do the change faster. Andrew was grateful for it.
Kim and Jenny were so happy for him, and had said the same thing that Andrew had said to Nicole. His Mom would have loved this idea, and would have loved both of her adopted children. Andrew was glad to have someone else who knew her agree with him. It made the moment sweeter.
May and Ford were also pleased with Andrew's choice, and let him know, without any uncertain terms, that Nicole and Noah were also theirs now. Rose and Richard had gotten two new siblings, and Andrew had laughed and told them about what Rose had said to them. May had laughed, and then pondered nicknames for all of them.
They had decided on Nicky, Noey, and Ellie. Andrew felt that Noah would be the most offended with his nickname, but that was why he liked it so much. May agreed.
Now, however, it was time to get serious.
Andrew let Maxwell know that he did have a semi-serious conversation that he wanted to have with him when he got home. That he'd had something bothering him and that he wanted to talk to Maxwell about it. Maxwell hadn't seemed surprised in the least. His response text was,
So you're finally going to tell me what's been bothering you? Good. I'll be home soon, Babe.
Andrew had let out a tense breath at that. Maxwell had known, but hadn't forced him. Andrew felt a bittersweet feeling in his chest upon hearing that.
~
Andrew had dinner ready, one of Maxwell's favourites, when he heard the garage door open and knew that Maxwell was home. It was only a few moments later that the door opened and Andrew heard the heavy sigh of Maxwell as he came in.
"I'm home, baby." Maxwell called, sounding tired. "Today was a long day. I had to stroke some alpha's ego to get him to agree with me. Makes me grateful that I have you in my life." Maxwell said, rounding the corner, putting his briefcase on the kitchen counter and heading for Andrew with his arms out.
Andrew didn't hesitate, wrapping his arms around his sweet partner. He held him tightly, even in his full winter garb and Maxwell let out a relieved sigh. It felt like he was using Andrew to charge up and there was no way Andrew would be mad about that.
He did that too.
Andrew and Maxwell didn't spend too much hugging, Maxwell pulling away to get undressed as Andrew plated their food and set down their plates in the dining room. Maxwell made sure to sit next to Andrew, his body turned so that his feet were touching Andrew. It was a simple act, but Andrew appreciated it.
Maxwell was saying, without words, that he was here for him.
They made small talk, Maxwell not forcing the issue, but clearly letting Andrew know that he was there for him. It made this conversation feel even more overwhelming, but he knew that he needed to have it. He waited until after dinner, however, with a few plates of treats in front of them, a snifter of scotch for both of them placed in front of them still at the dining room table.
Andrew needed something sturdy under him as he spoke of this to Maxwell.
"I want to start this by saying I do not want to control your body. This is not where this is coming from." Andrew started, and Maxwell's brow rose. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"Oh?" He asked and Andrew swallowed thickly. He couldn't look at Maxwell while he spoke because he felt he would get too nervous, freeze, and stop talking. He instead stared at the snifter and the sweet treats on the table, his leg shaking as he tried to speak without sounding like a creep.
"I know I'm new to this…thinking about the kids thing, but I just…I'm worried about you, Maxy." Andrew said. He swallowed. "I'm really, really worried. I love both Mehar and Fern so much already, but Amir and Jordan didn't have easy births. We all worried that Jordan could die." Andrew said, his voice getting thick with emotion. "I'm worried that the thing connecting their difficult births is the fact that they're omega men." Andrew said.
A hand touched his bicep, giving it a squeeze.
"Andy." Maxwell's voice was soft. Andrew gave his head a gentle shake.
"Please just let me get this out. I already feel terrible even having these thoughts." Andrew begged. There was a beat of silence before Maxwell exhaled.
"Okay." He agreed and Andrew felt his shoulders relax slightly.
"I'm also worried that you aren't going to be strong enough to carry a baby. I've never had these worries before, and I'm scared. I'm trying so hard to fatten you up just in case, but-"
"So I'm not losing my mind. You are trying to fatten me up." Maxwell's voice held a hint of amusement in his tone. Andrew flushed, swallowing.
"I'm sorry. I should have spoken to you about that. I just-"
"Sh. It's okay. Keep talking. I'm sorry I interrupted." Maxwell told him kindly and Andrew nodded.
"I should have spoken to you about that." Andrew muttered again. "However, I just feel like you're so…tiny. So damn tiny. How could such a small body bring in a life without endangering itself?" Andrew asked, taking in a shaky breath. "I didn't badmouth Rose when she was shocked and scared for how she was treating Fern because I knew it was out of character for her, and because I can't say I wouldn't react the same way if a complication happened to you. I…I know that I wouldn't blame the child, but I can't say that if you…if you died in childbirth that I would ever be able to get over that." Andrew whispered. The hand on Andrew's bicep squeezed him tightly.
"Oh Andy. Have you been letting these thoughts stay with you all this time?" Maxwell asked and Andrew sighed heavily.
"I briefly touched on it in therapy the other day, but we didn't have enough time to really…work on it." Andrew told him, not hiding anything from him. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier. I didn't really feel like there was time and also…I felt bad for thinking this way. I know you're strong, I know you're powerful. This felt like I was being sexist because you're an omega and-" Maxwell's hands slid up to Andrew's cheeks and he pulled.
One second Andrew was talking, the next second he was kissing his fiancé. Maxwell deepened the kiss, pulling Andrew in deeply until Andrew wasn't even aware he'd pushed his chair back so that Maxwell could crawl up and into his lap. He rested there, kissing and stroking Andrew comfortingly until Maxwell released him.
Andrew knew his face was flushed, his body hard and Maxwell's hands were soft, but firm in his hair.
"Baby, you aren't being sexist. You aren't even bad for thinking and worrying about these things." Maxwell murmured, his blue eyes soft as they looked over Andrew. "You are so damn sweet, my love. You were that worried for me?" Maxwell asked and Andrew nodded.
"I've been plagued with worry." Andrew admitted and Maxwell's smile was soft.
"Alright. Then how about we do this together, hmm? After all, it takes two to make a baby." Maxwell said, his face slightly flushed. "How about we go talk to some Doctors together? Get a second opinion." Andrew felt his face crumble.
"But you hate going to the Doctors." Andrew whispered. Maxwell pulled his face closer, kissing him deeply once more. When he came up for air, he had a soft, caring look in his gaze. Andrew felt his knees go weak.
"This matters to you more than my fear of Doctors. Plus, you're going to be with me every step of the way, right? That, and you're going to be a Doctor, Andrew. You technically already are. I better get used to it." Maxwell joked and Andrew grabbed his glasses, taking them off because they were useless. He was going to cry like a baby, and he'd rather not ruin them or smash them.
"I love you." Andrew told him, unable to keep the words inside of him. Maxwell smiled at him.
"I love you too." Maxwell said. "Now, about you wanting to fatten me up…" Maxwell said and Andrew tensed. "You can't. I've already got my wedding outfits fitted. I can't get bigger than I am right now without having to remake them. Save the fattening for after, alright?" Maxwell said, humour in his voice. Andrew flushed.
"I didn't even consider that the wedding was coming up. I got so lost in panic that I didn't even consider that." Andrew admitted and Maxwell laughed, pressing several kisses to his face.
"I know, you big worrier. It's okay. That's why I'm here, to help you tackle these thoughts. Thank you for telling me and talking to me about this instead of keeping it inside. I'll make sure to do the same if I'm worried too, okay?" Maxwell told him and Andrew just fell more hopelessly in love with him.
"I love you so much." Andrew confessed and instead of telling him again that he loved him, Maxwell just smiled and pressed their lips together. His actions speaking louder than his words could.
