"Miss, please wear this today and hurry up. We have a packed schedule today. We cannot afford to be late to anything."

Canarie looked at her maid with disappointed eyes. She was tired of all these needless formalities she had to go through even when Emperor Kaiden was not here.

Her eyes looked over the overly impressive dress that was surely taken out of Princess Danielle’s ’special’ wardrobe, and Canarie shook her head at her maid.

"Do I have to dress like this? I have my own. Besides, the one I want to show off my beauty to is not even here..."

Canarie reminded the maid, only for the maid to give her a harsh look that made her shrink back.

"Lady Canarie, please look at the bigger picture here. Now that Emperor Kaiden and that...’pest’ are no longer here, you can get close to Prince Caelis and Rin. They are at an age where they can be easily influenced by things. So if you wear a dress as glamorous as this, they would surely feel curious about you."

That did not sound right to Lady Canarie. She felt more discomfort than anything else when she was being pressured by her maid.

But then again, she did not know anything about those two kids, so maybe her maid was right. Maybe taking this dress and wearing it was the right thing for Canarie to do...

’I have a feeling that I am doing something wrong. But since my maid is saying this, then I might as well follow her words, right? Besides, it is not every day I get to wear such a glamorous dress...’

Lady Canarie made up her mind, and she nodded to herself. Her hands reached for the dress, and despite her misgivings about wearing it, she ended up doing so anyway.

"Oh my! You look so wonderful, my lady. It’s almost as if this dress was made entirely for your sake. It fits your body so well, and it brings out your eyes as well. Ah, you were truly made for such luxury..."

The maid praised Canarie more and more. The more she praised Canarie, the shier Canarie felt. But her confidence started to rise at an alarming rate at the same time.

"H-Hey, that’s enough. I-I should get going now. The sooner I meet those kids, the sooner I can work on getting closer to them, right?"

The maid snapped out of her praising daze and nodded. She quickly led Canarie out of her room and to the picnic spot where the kids were eating lunch with Prince Yunn.

Canarie’s steps suddenly halted as she came closer to the seating area. She looked around for Danielle, but her cousin was nowhere to be found. Her sudden halt made the maid standing beside her confused.

"My lady, is something wrong? Why are you not joining Prince Caelis and Rin? Is there a reason?"

The maid asked in a patient voice, and Canarie wondered whether she should tell the maid about her thoughts or not. But in the end, she decided to put her hesitation aside and speak up.

"I...am not sure if it is the right thing for me to approach those three and join them. People can misunderstand my relationship with Prince Yunn, and a rumor might start. I want to avoid that happening if possible..."

Canarie only had eyes for Emperor Kaiden, and she wanted to avoid any kind of rumors with anyone else. Her eyes looked at her maid confidently. But her maid just sighed and shook her head.

"My lady, nothing will happen if you join the young princes. We all know how devoted you are toward Emperor Kaiden. Everyone understands your drive and your patience. I am sure it will be alright. Besides, if you miss this chance, who knows when you will get it again...?"

The maid was playing with Canarie’s emotions by saying all this. Canarie realized it as well. But her emotions were jumbling inside her head, making it difficult for her to tell what she felt about this situation.

Her feet decided to take her toward Prince Yunn’s side, and she reached them before she knew it. She only realized what she was doing when it was too late to turn back.

Prince Yunn had noticed her presence, and her familiar dress made him mistake her identity.

"Danielle? Have you finally decided to join us? And that dress? Did you not say that it was for special occasions...? Huh? Lady Canarie...? What are you doing in that dress?"

Prince Yunn asked in a confused but suspicious voice. Not only did he recognize the dress Lady Canarie was wearing, but he also knew that it was a special dress for Danielle. So seeing her wear it was a shock to him.

His stiff response made Lady Canarie feel awkward as well. She looked down at her dress with almost disdain on her face, now realizing that she had made a mistake. Then, she looked at Prince Caelis and decided to answer him honestly.

"My maid gave me this dress to wear. She told me that I would be able to get close to Prince Caelis and Rin if I dressed in better clothes-"

"Uncle, I want to go back. I don’t like it here. Can we go back now?"

Caelis interrupted Canarie’s speech, and her heart immediately sank at the disinterested look on his face. The dress had not worked even a little bit.

Prince Yunn sighed and stood up as well. He grabbed Caelis and Rin and decided to head back inside.

But before he left, he turned toward Lady Canarie one last time.

"My lady, I don’t know what you are going through, but I will give you one last piece of advice- you had better stop listening to your maids about everything. Otherwise, I don’t know what kind of trouble you might end up in. Oh, and I would also advise you to stay in your lane."

Lady Canarie suddenly felt pressured. She found it difficult to breathe and could only nod as Prince Yunn left with the kids.
