Regret and grief filled Canarie’s heart all of a sudden as she watched the prince and the kids leaving her. She wanted to reach out toward them and stop them, but her body wouldn’t move.

In the end, all she could do was watch as they walked away.

"Lady Canarie, are you alright? You are not hurt, right? How could Prince Caelis leave someone as beautiful as you behind? And you even went as far as to dress for the occasion. Is he blind or something-"

"You are fired. I do not want you as my maid anymore."

The maid suddenly halted her worried speech and gave Lady Canarie a startled expression. Her wide eyes told Canarie that the maid had not expected those words to come out of Lady Canarie’s mouth. Nor had she expected the usually easy-going lady to say this.

"E-Excuse me, but what did you say, my lady? I am-"

"Fired. You do not need to show up in front of me again. I will inform Danielle of this as well. Now, disappear from my sight."

The maid looked shocked beyond words. She gave Canarie one last look of disbelief before doing as she had been asked.

Canarie kept an eye on the maid for some time before her body sagged and she let her emotions burst forward. All of it hit her at once-her disappointment and her anger.

All Canarie wanted to do now was close her eyes and fall asleep. After all, her hope was getting exhausted.

’Should I end it all? I can’t take it anymore. Why won’t anyone listen to me and give me a chance?’

But even that question had no answer in the end.

Her eyes caught sight of Princess Danielle walking through the next corridor, and for a second, their eyes met. But Princess Danielle looked away from her pretty quickly.

It reminded Canarie that she was truly alone in all of this without a single ally by her side.

"Ah, this is so tough. Why did the Goddess choose such a path for me? What do I do now?"

Shuu’s body felt lethargic as he pushed himself off the bed. He felt unstable, and all he wanted to do was lie back down and go to sleep.

But the thought of going back to Caelis and Rin kept him moving. It was what motivated Shuu to get out of bed and keep moving.

Unlike him, Emperor Kaiden had no reason to get out of bed. But Shuu’s absence finally made him frown and look around for him. And that was also what made Kaiden get out of bed and walk toward Shuu.

Shuu tensed as he sensed the emperor standing behind him, and soon, a pair of arms wrapped around his middle and pulled him against a solid chest.

"Come back to bed with me. We still have some time. We can sleep a little more."

Emperor Kaiden spoke in a voice filled with sleep and laziness. He also dragged Shuu back toward the bed. But Shuu started to protest as soon as he realized what was happening.

"Kaiden, we don’t have time for all this. We need to start heading back now, or the kids will get worried. You don’t want to worry the kids, right?"

Shuu reminded the emperor, but Kaiden’s blank expression told Shuu that he had no idea what Shuu was talking about.

"Kids...?"

"I am talking about Caelis and Rin. They are still waiting for us to get back. And I would rather not leave them alone under the influence of the people in the Imperial Palace. Who knows what can happen..."

Shuu was worried about the kids.

He knew that the people in the imperial palace wouldn’t cause any real harm to Caelis and Rin, but they would surely try to use them for their own benefit. He did not want to see his kids being used by someone else.

So he needed to hurry back.

"Tsk, so it’s those kids again..."

Kaiden’s voice was filled with jealousy and annoyance at the same time. Before Shuu could say anything more, he spoke up once more.

"You don’t have to worry about those kids. Yunn will take care of them and protect them in our stead. He might not look like much, but Yunn is oftentimes more dangerous compared to me. He’s...just a little shy in expressing himself. If nothing else, I sent Nero back as well to keep an eye on things."

The confidence in Kaiden’s voice made Shuu feel better. He also felt a little relieved now that Nero had gone to check up on the kids.

He did not doubt Prince Yunn’s capabilities, but there were times when Prince Yunn would not be able to move freely due to his position.

Not to mention, Princess Danielle was also acting weird before Shuu was kidnapped. Something was going on with her as well.

Lady Elysia looked at her father’s blank face in front of her. Both her father and the guards looked back at her with the same blank expression that filled her with delight.

"So, are all the preparations ready, Father?"

She asked the man who was currently under her control.

Her father’s body nodded at her words, and Elysia let out a smile. Finally, all the groundwork had been laid out, and it was time for her to act.

This world had taken away her god from her, and now, she would make sure everyone was about to lose what was precious to them as well.
