Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Patrol, Bagua

The next day, it was the Wizard Jolin couple's turn.

This couple was very sociable and even brought gifts for Ronan, a freshly baked apple pie and lamb meat pies.

They also warmly expressed that Ronan could often come over for meals, their eagerness to please was evident.

Ronan politely invited them in for a cup of tea, and after seeing the couple off, he tried the apple pie and lamb meat pies they brought.

He couldn't help but sigh; compared to Mrs. Jolin's cooking, what had he been eating all this time!

The third day was the turn of the Young Wizard Linus.

Ronan didn't see him, probably because he had left without saying hello.

The fourth day was for the Half-Elf siblings.

Thinking of the beautiful and gentle Half-Elf sister he saw at Porter's funeral, Ronan waited early outside the Tree House, hoping to see her again to feast his eyes and maybe even strike up a conversation and get to know her.

But after waiting and waiting, only the indifferent looking Half-Elf strong man showed up, asked him a few brief questions then left, leaving Ronan quite disappointed.

The fifth day.

It was finally Ronan's turn to patrol.

"Magic Ring, one-handed sword, water bag, dry food..."

Inside the cottage, Ronan checked off the items he needed to bring, and then donned a grey magic robe.

He had initially planned to wear a set of light leather armor underneath.

But due to body changes from his Body Forging training, the prior armor no longer fit and actually hindered movement, so he decided against it.

Upon stepping out of the cottage, Ronan instantly spotted the blonde chubby Jacob waiting under his family's old oak tree.

Ronan climbed down the tree vines, and noticing the noise, Jacob quickly came up to him.

"Good morning, Sir Ronan."

Jacob greeted Ronan, his expression subtly excited and eager.

"Good morning."

Ronan kindly smiled back and casually asked, "Have you had breakfast?"

"Not.. I have!"

Jacob first started to shake his head, then quickly nodded.

Ronan didn't bother to check if he actually had eaten, as it was just a polite question, and said directly, "Then let's start."

"Oh, okay."

Jacob followed closely behind him like an attendant.

Ronan took his first patrol quite seriously.

He pulled out the patrol route map drawn by Old Wells and thought over the upcoming plan.

Starting from his house, first go to the Jolin couple's place, then Old Wells', followed by Vinicia, the Half-Elf siblings, Linus...

Visiting each member of the small group's residence, plus patrolling the activity area, checking water sources, and supply points...

Completing one whole set of procedures, with his walking speed, should take about two hours.

But if Jacob is coming along...

Ronan glanced at the chubby blonde who was closely following him, already breathing heavily after just a short while...

"It'll probably take over three hours."

"Great! Looks like there's nothing to do today..."

Ronan shook his head and sighed inwardly.

Actually, the team did not mandate how many times each patrol group must patrol, nor was there a fixed route requirement.

But patrolling was always unpredictable – no one knew when or where an incident could occur, so Ronan felt it was better to be thorough.

It was his responsibility to everyone, and to himself.

His preliminary plan was to run the map in his hands three times a day – once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once at night.

If all goes well, he should still be able to squeeze out some time to attend to his own matters.

Ronan was thinking as he walked, and without realizing it, he reached the first patrol point, the Jolin couple's residence.

The Jolin couple's tree house was built between two intertwined trees and looked much bigger from the outside than Ronan's.

They had visited last time specifically, and out of politeness, Ronan decided to go up and greet them.

Unexpectedly, the couple seemed to have anticipated his arrival, waiting at the door early on, and greeted him extremely warmly, treating him very kindly.

This was Ronan's first official visit to another wizard's home. Feeling embarrassed without any gift, he sat down, briefly drank a cup of red tea, and then took his leave.

However, Jacob, who claimed he had already had breakfast, devoured a whole tray of fresh raspberry pies made by Mrs. Jolin and kept burping as they left the door.

Which left Ronan quite speechless.

Perhaps feeling a bit more familiar with Ronan, upon leaving the Jolin's house, the chubby Jacob began to initiate conversation with Ronan.

"Mr. Ronan, I heard that you are a Rune Master?"

"Yes."

Ronan nodded casually. This was not a secret; he had never deliberately concealed it.

"That's really impressive!"

Jacob opened his mouth in admiration, his eyes showing undisguised respect and admiration for Ronan.

"In the Tree House District, I've never seen anyone so young become a Level 4 Wizard, and still a Rune Master of such Talent."

"Hehe."

Ronan just laughed, not continuing the conversation.

Jacob kept flattering him and then cautiously asked, "Mr. Ronan, do you have a mentor or an inheritance?"

Ronan glanced at Jacob, "Why do you ask?"

"Because that's the case with Mr. Linus."

Jacob quickly replied, "Mr. Linus's mentor was an Advanced Wizard Apprentice. After his death, all was left to Mr. Linus..."

Ronan stuttered, instinctively asking, "Where did you get this news?"

"Madam Barbara, a very beautiful Female wizard, used to live over there..."

Jacob pointed in a direction and said, "Half a month ago, she kicked out several of her previous lovers and became Mr. Linus's mistress..."

Jacob finished his sentence and suddenly seemed to realize he had misspoken, hurriedly covering his mouth.

But Ronan was enlightened.

"No wonder that guy is so arrogant, and at such a young age, he's already Level 5... It turns out he inherited the mantle of an Advanced Wandering Wizard."

Ronan couldn't help but inquire if Jacob knew why the young wizard Linus moved to the Tree House District.

This time, Jacob hesitated and was unwilling to clarify.

However, Ronan guessed that someone like Linus, who would even brag about his own family background to a bedpartner, likely had his inheritance news leaked, attracting the attention of some ill-intentioned people.

Or maybe he was simply compelled by an enemy.

The secrets about Linus that Jacob inadvertently revealed piqued Ronan's interest, prompting him to start chatting actively with Jacob.

Surprisingly, it turned out that Jacob was quite a talent.

Although his strength and talent were average, his ability to gather gossip was truly top-notch.

He knew all the juicy details about the wizards in a large nearby area.

Which male wizard was having an affair with which female wizard, which wizard's son was not biologically his, which two male wizards had a shocking sexual orientation, not only regularly meeting in secret, but always bringing a male mountain goat...

Ronan's eyes were opened wide. Without Jacob, he would never have known the life of wizards in the Tree House District could be so interesting.

He even learned that Old Wells had a daughter when he was young, who unfortunately died young, and he looked after Vinicia, who lives near Tree Spring, viewing her as his own daughter...

Time flew by with Jacob's endless gossip, but unfortunately, by the second half of the patrol, Jacob started to close his mouth due to exhaustion, leaving Ronan somewhat unsatisfied.

...

Pushing aside the thick branches and fallen leaves, Ronan carefully checked the contents of a small tree hole in front.

Food, several packs of hemostatic powder for treating external wounds, a bottle of the lowest level detoxification agent, and an unused new signal box.

"Old Wells really thought things through..."

Ronan reset the cover, quietly sighing to himself.
