Faced with Old Wells’s shout, the newcomer ignored him.
The Black Robed Wizard following behind the three of Old Wells let out a cold laugh upon seeing someone arrive.
“Didn’t expect to be so lucky, gathering all the Grey Robed Wizard scalps needed for the mission in one go..
Pretty good.”
Hearing this sinister laugh, Old Wells was so anxious perspiration formed on his face.
He was well aware of the strength of the approaching companion.
Though an Intermediate Wizard Apprentice, he had only risen to that level by taking drugs within a few short months.
Normally, he was either researching Rune Studies or engrossed in Body Forging, never practicing any spells.
He was too young and far from the age of perfectly converting spiritual cultivation into combat power.
And even if he reached that state, Black Robes who fought through conspiracy and blood weren’t something wandering wizards without proper heritage or specialized training could handle.
You might be a level or two higher than your opponent, yet easily lose your life in battle.
During the Black Witch Land invasion event in his youth, Old Wells had seen too many similar cases.
“Hurry, leave, let Ronan take you away!”
Old Wells made a resolute decision, forcefully pushing Vinicia and Cheryl away, then turned to face the Black Robed Wizard behind him.
Cheryl’s heart-wrenching cries instantly rang out, causing Old Wells’s heart to tremble uncontrollably.
In the next second, however, he made up his mind, took a deep breath, and began to rapidly chant a spell, enduring his injuries.
Before Old Wells could utter a few spell syllables, an inexplicable energy wave surged up behind him.
A terrifying sound of breaking through the air approached swiftly.
Old Wells saw the Black Robed Wizard, who had been watching with a cold smile, suddenly look as if he had seen a ghost, his face changing dramatically as he turned to run without a word.
At this moment, something swiftly flew over Old Wells’s head, the howling wind billowing the robe on Old Wells like a ship’s sail, his white hair fluttering wildly…
“Boom!”
A massive, deep blue almost black energy light ball quickly struck the fleeing Black Robe, exploding with a visible energy wave, shaking the surrounding grass and trees, and leaves fell rustling…
“Whish—”
A figure quickly ran past Old Wells, skillfully reaching the deep pit where the Black Robed Wizard had disappeared, searched among the fragments, and swiftly stuffed a few items into his arms.
After finishing this, the person walked towards them.
When he reached them, he scrutinized the three of them, showing a relieved expression on his face, then asked.
“Oh right, where’s Jacob?
Wasn’t he with you?”
Old Wells blankly stared at the familiar yet strikingly unfamiliar young, handsome face in front of him, subconsciously opening his mouth..
but unable to utter a word.
…..
“Searched everywhere but couldn’t find him?
He’s not at home either…”
Ronan frowned slightly, weighed the situation briefly, and finally decided, “Forget it, never mind him.”
The forest was fraught with danger now, with both Black Robes and Magic Beasts lurking; he couldn’t risk everyone for the missing Jacob.
Raising his head, the recently rescued trio of Old Wells still stared at him in shock and amazement.
Particularly Old Wells, who was closest to him.
Seeing his strength had the most significant impact.
Ronan suspected that, until then, in Old Wells’s mind, he was probably still that Level 2 Apprentice, panting while running to solve the issue of energy particle erosion.
“You’re injured?!”
Ronan noticed Old Wells’s ghastly complexion.
“Got grazed by a spell..”
Old Wells forced a smile, “It’s alright, I won’t die.”
Ronan pondered a moment, then bent down, “Come on, I’ll carry you.”
Old Wells hesitated for a moment but eventually lay on Ronan’s back.
“Thank you, Ronan.” ƒrēenovelkiss.com
Ronan heard the complexity in Old Wells’s gratitude, shook his head, and also picked up the small Cheryl.
Since mastering Ascetic Body Refinement, his strength had increased astonishingly; though he couldn’t compare himself with a proper Knight, Ronan felt he was rather impressive.
The combined weight of the old and the small didn’t pose any burden to him.
He led the group back the way they came.
After running for a while, Ronan suddenly noticed that Vinicia hadn’t followed them.
Running back, he found that Vinicia seemed a bit off.
Ronan reached out to tug at the hem of her robe, seeing her ankle swollen like a steamed bun, not knowing when she had twisted it.
“Why didn’t you say you were injured?”
Ronan couldn’t help but frown.
Vinicia bit her lip, lowered her head, and remained silent like a child being scolded for causing trouble.
“Forget it, you come up too!
One more isn’t a problem.”
Seeing her like this, Ronan couldn’t say much more, directly reaching out to pick Vinicia up and tucked her under another arm.
Vinicia’s shy resistance was like a tickle to Ronan, although he was slightly surprised by something else.
Ronan discovered that Vinicia’s figure was surprisingly ample!
Usually hidden under a loose, bulky Wizard Robe, it was not apparent at all.
Carrying all three on his back, Ronan ran for quite a distance until Old Wells asked him to put him down, stating that Ronan should conserve his energy.
Ronan actually felt okay, having carried them for so long only made him sweat a little; fighting would still be no problem.
But as Old Wells insisted, he set them down.
They found some healing powder and used a one-handed sword to cut some branches into walking sticks, finally allowing both the injured Old Wells and Vinicia to move normally.
Though still a considerable distance from leaving the forest, they were safely away from the most dangerous area, easing everyone’s minds significantly.
Due to the previous carrying experience, Ronan couldn’t help but glance at Vinicia all along the way.
Through this secret observation, Ronan discovered that the features beneath Vinicia’s thick flaxen hair weren’t bad at all, even a bit pretty.
It was just that her skin was terrible.
Dull yellow, coarse, without any glow, like a peasant woman’s, ravages her appearance hugely.
“What a pity…
with that figure, she could have scored a ninety.”
Ronan inwardly lamented.
Regardless of appearances, he had a favorable impression of the witch girl Vinicia.
At Wizard Porter’s funeral, Vinicia had sung to comfort the distressed Cheryl, leaving a deep impression of kindness and maternal tenderness on Ronan.
Later, together with Old Wells, she adopted Cheryl and reportedly didn’t take anything left by Porter, undoubtedly a kind-hearted girl.
Perhaps due to being carried by Ronan earlier or because she caught Ronan’s subtle scrutiny, after receiving the walking stick from Ronan, Vinicia kept her head down, her face flushed, shy as a rabbit awaiting its turn.
In the furious run just now, Ronan hadn’t noticed the state of the Tree House District was in chaos.
