Chapter 224: "Did I raise Cowards?"

Problems kept piling up, one on top of the other, and Jimmy was not a fan.

Moments ago, he tried his best to work with the fact that three brigades of cavemen, totalling over a thousand people, were coming for his people, and were ready to fight to the end just to lay claim over the grasslands. He thought that such a great amount of cavemen willing to risk their lives for the grasslands was insane, and yet, he learned that yet another thousand people were close to attacking his tribe from behind, which was utterly manic!

"They’re trying to fucking surround us! How fucking smart!" He yelled out, "Where did they even find two thousand people? How are they not being eaten by dinosaurs on their way here! Where are those fuckass giants when you need them?"

"What’s going on?" Anna asked, "What do you mean two thousand? Are you saying there are a thousand people on the grasslands right now?" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Yes," He kicked a few rocks away, but thankfully he didn’t hurt his toes, since he was still wearing those steel-toe boots. "They’re attacking us from all sides of the damn compass. East, west, north, south, you name it."

"We’ll think of something, brother," Gaark weighed in, "We’ll hide if we have to. The army behind the mountain is only a day away, so it’s not like we can fight them anyway. We’ll lose for sure."

"Hide?" Gnegor heard him, and scoffed, "I didn’t know my sons were cowards... we’re not leaving our home, Gaark, at least I’m not. I’ll die standing here."

Jimmy wanted to argue with his father, he wanted to do so with every fiber of his being, but he kept reminding himself that it was a lost cause, a waste of time, so he simply shook his head around, eyes rolling, and tried not to say anything that would escalate the situation. He did not need to pile up problem after problem already, as his problems were doing a good job on their own in that regard.

The plans he made a minute ago were blown out of the water, just like that, because no matter what he did, it wouldn’t be enough to fight off an army of one-thousand people under such short notice. He tried to work around that throbbing issue, and held the top of his head, frustrated, up until the point he pulled a few of his hair out, a whole lump!

"Jimmy..." Anna ran her hand across his cheek, "Calm down, you know we’ll win this. I don’t care if ten-thousand of them came our way, we’re smarter than those unwashed baboons, we’ll figure something out."

"Everyone keeps saying that," He kicked away a few more rocks, "We won’t figure something out this time, Anna. We don’t have the numbers, we don’t have the clones, and we don’t have the time either. Do you really think that we’ll wake up tomorrow, and somehow fight off one thousand fucking people? I don’t think so. We can have all the faith in the world, but it won’t get us anywhere."

Then, he looked at the sky, and whispered, "Fuck that damn God for putting us in this position to begin with. This life is the cruelest joke that I ever heard of."

Anna knew that he wasn’t trying to hurt her feelings in particular, but she couldn’t help holding a few tears back. She may not have liked their new life in the beginning, but she was growing accustomed to it, especially since she could share it with Jimmy.

From the looks of it, he wasn’t as appreciative, so even though she was not the type of woman to cry easily, a few tears then ran down her eyes.

"I like our life," She said, her voice mousy.

"I fucking don’t!" He yelled out, unaware that he upset her.

In fact, he wasn’t even aware that she was close to crying her eyes out, and worse yet, he stormed off afterwards, heading towards the spot where their pet dinosaurs usually hung around in. He was debating if he should stay here all night. He didn’t plan on sleeping tonight anyway, and although he despised the idea that ’everything was going to be fine’ if they prayed for it enough, he was still hoping to get another epiphany, another plan that just might help his tribe survive.

He was pissed, but he wasn’t willing to give up. His father’s lengthy speeches about bravery and community didn’t have the slightest effect on him, no, but deep down, he despised the idea of giving up, especially if he had to give up because some hairy cavemen who hadn’t bathed in years wanted to lay claim over the grasslands. He was usually a calm man, but at this point, the sin of pride was overwhelming him enough to surprise The Devil himself!

"Fuckass cavemen..." He grunted, "Why can’t they just piss off? Fuck!"

Jimmy wanted to be left alone for a few hours, but his people didn’t want to hear it. His parents watched him from afar, and as for Gaark and Anna, they followed after him, and despite how tired they were from the trip, they weren’t planning to leave Jimmy alone even if he cussed at them all night. They knew him well enough, and so they knew that he usually never acted this way, not unless he was under deep, inner turmoil.

Anna followed him with tears running down her cheeks. She felt heartbroken, and deep inside, she wanted to get her little revenge too! At the very least, she wanted to smack him the moment he calmed down, and have him apologize profusely.

Jimmy tried his best to figure out a plan, and he was getting desperate, so he had half a mind to play some cards that he never intended to play before.

He thought, ’God damn it, I have to make a few hundred of my clones... don’t I? They’re gonna be impossible to control, but in the slightest fucking chance that I can convince them to flank those rock-climbing bastards tonight, we might just survive this...’
