Chapter 227: King of Alien Pop

Jimmy was hoping for a miracle tonight. He was really hoping to avoid cloning himself again, as he didn’t nearly want to deal with the aftermath, which was why he stuffed himself in the small room of gadgets, and was looking for anything that could help his friends survive the calamity that awaited them tomorrow, perhaps as early as the sun rose from the horizon.

He was happy that Anna was down here at the bunker with him, because the fact was that no one else in this entire tribe could help him as much as she could.

She was not a nerd, nor geek in her former life, at least not when it came to alien technology, but regardless of that fact, she was smart, she came from another world, just like him, and could recognize a good opportunity when it slapped her on the face. She could recognize decent technology, and would stop at nothing to make the best out of it!

He managed to relax just a little bit knowing that she was down here to help him, and so, he could dedicate a little bit more of his time to experimenting with the gadgets that he deemed the most interesting.

At some point, during his search for good stuff, he knew which items to avoid. He avoided gadgets that seemed broken, or were made out of simple plastic, as it would be foolish to expect anything good out of them.

Other than that, he avoided things such as gauntlets all together, because in the full-on, bloody battle that was soon to follow, a gauntlet that could tell the room temperature and oxygen levels, would be infinitely useless! Hell, even that gauntlet that had a powerful tranquilizer on it, wasn’t as useful as it appeared to be.

He could tranquilize a bunch of cavemen if he got close enough, with enough of a dosage to kill them too, but it was too risky, as he’d have to get close to the first, massive platoon of enemies, which was a huge risk as he could get speared down at any time! Not to mention, he didn’t nearly have enough time to tranquilize all one-thousand of them.

"Probably doesn’t have more than a few darts in it anyway..." He sighed.

It was best to focus on the decent-looking gadgets, and he already had a few of them on his hands, so he walked out of the room, and put one of them to the test. He didn’t know what to predict, so he thought that it was best to keep the experiments going outside of the room of gadgets, because he didn’t want to accidentally ruin the items within it, items that he hadn’t even had a chance to experiment with yet, or even touch.

Anyway, the first gadget he chose to ’activate’, in a sense, was a flat, silver disk. He had no idea what it was supposed to do, in fact, it took forever to find the button on it, as the button was more of a stepping stone, at this point, as it was a foot wide, and it was located in the very middle of the two-foot wide disc.

Regardless, he found the button, stepped on it to press it, and even ran away as soon as he pressed it, because he expected it to be the equivalent of a land mine! He ran away, threw himself behind the couch in the Rec room, and hurt himself as he slammed his body on the ground, and waited for the ’explosion’ to erupt.

"My god..." He grunted, and slowly stood up after less than half a minute. "I’m getting too desperate, aren’t I? I mean what fucking moron would step on an alien landmine? How would a landmine even help me... wait... those hairy bastards are climbing across the mountain, so a landmine could help me... but... is it a landmine?"

The explosion did not come, even though he gave it some time to erupt, but Jimmy was still a bit paranoid, so he grabbed the other items that he had thrown on the couch when he made a run for it earlier on, and then he approached the supposed landmine with caution.

It did not explode, and he didn’t know how to feel about that fact. He was even hoping for an explosion, and as he got closer, he nearly suffered a heart attack when a sudden wave of tunes ’exploded’ around him! Music!

The disk was a remote control for music! The speakers were mounted across the walls of the bunker, somehow, and after he worked his way around nearly suffering a heart attack, he paid more attention to the music, and could vaguely make out who the ’artist’ might be.

Tchh taack teech tackk...

"Hu...huu!"

The style of the artist was distinct. Alien, but distinct, so he got quite a kick out of it once he pieced the puzzle together!

"Aliens have an MJ too, huh?" He held his head, not knowing if he should laugh or cry. "Damn near killed me too. Too loud."

Jimmy then stepped on the disk again, and the music stopped two minutes later. This was the worst remote control he had ever seen, and at this point, he could tell why it was stuffed in that room.

"No next button, no rewind, no nothing. Just on, and off." He mumbled, "Aliens are supposed to be good at making shit. How hard is it to make a convenient, hand-held remote with a few buttons?"

Jimmy tossed the silver disk back in the snug room, so it could sit along with the rest of the junk, where it belonged, and then, he set the rest of the items he had on the ground, so he could experiment with the second gadget that he found the most interesting.

This one was a lot more simple, and he had picked it, because it looked a lot like the bracelet that Terrence had. Well, Jimmy had fished out a ring, it was clearly a ring, one made out of gold, but he had large expectations!

He didn’t know how to work it, he didn’t know if a ring could even have buttons, but nevertheless, he put it on, and awaited the results!
