Booking Glory-Chapter 64: Changes
Rob stepped into the locker room of the women’s division at the end of the PPV with a satisfied look on his face. He didn’t even need to ask backstage personnel about the reactions.
He was confident that the PPV has been a major success. Especially, the women’s division. With only one match on the card, they had hit it out of the park, so to speak.
Just listening to the crowd while he was sitting in the commentary booth was enough for him to realize that the crowd was really into the whole match. And that controversial finish and Diana’s video package were the final nails in the coffins.
He knew deep down that he needed to put more variety into his programming and not just concentrate on just Dacey-Diana feud. But, the story that was being told was so juicy that it was beginning to get a lot of attention from the fans.
After that last video package, Rob was sure that a lot of people would tune in on Wednesday to see how Diana is going to react after her blowup backstage. He also overheard a few people commenting on what Mr. Gibson’s actions would be as well.
While most were sympathetic toward Mr. Gibson, they were also curious to see if he would bring Dacey to heel. It was obvious to them that he wasn’t exactly pleased to see Dacey win in such a way.
With the finish being controversial, now Rob had a lot of ways in which he could move the story forward. He knew that the focus of the story must shift towards Diana and her attempts to reclaim her championship back after being cheated.
If he added a bit of drama between Dacey and Mr. Gibson, then he could have a solid build-up toward the next PPV match. So, there was no need to focus too much attention on that story for now.
The issue now that he was facing was which match to put as the second match for the next PPV. Rob knew from the discussions with the management that the next PPV will probably be half an hour longer than usual PPVs.
It also meant that there will be room on the card for another women’s division match heading into the next PPV. Now, he was forced to choose which of the wrestlers would be featured on it.
He had two options. One option was to go ahead with Evelyn and Selena’s rivalry and have them have a match at the PPV. But, Rob felt that their rivalry didn’t have enough meat to drag on until then.
He knew he had not focused on developing other programs for the women’s division, as his concentration has solely been on developing the story of Diana and Dacey. He had neglected the other females in the locker room in order to establish Dacey as a viable threat to Diana.
That meant, he hadn’t laid any foundation for the other rivalries in any solid way. The match between Evelyn and Selena might have been a good contender, but it lacked the depth that Rob wanted to tell.
Also, Rob wanted to feature more women on the card and not let them sit around and idle away in the locker room. So, the next month will be filled with various female wrestlers making their presence known.
So, needed to have a payoff for all their introduction in the upcoming weeks. This usually meant that he had to arrange a match at the PPV featuring more of them and not just Selena and Evelyn.
He couldn’t skip the story of Dacey and Diana as well. The crowd was really into them by now and their rivalry was red hot. Dropping the ball now would ruin all the efforts put forth until now.
So, Rob was feeling a little contemplative as well when he entered the locker room.
He found the atmosphere there very joyous. It was clear they were all happy for Dacey’s big moment and wanted to be happy for her. Dacey and Diana were situated in the center as the others crowded around them.
"Ladies, I hope you are all happy with what you have achieved tonight," Rob said smiling a little.
"Absolutely," Diana smiled. "I never knew that despite losing you can still gain more traction with fans. This was something entirely new for me."
"You can," Rob said confidently. "When you put in the proper effort to establish a storyline and have the reason for the fans to back you, you can always have the traction."
"The crowd, in general, wants to be entertained. Whether it be through spectacular in-ring action, goofy stuff, or a very intriguing story, all they want is entertainment. I made sure that the story was interesting and had more on its plate for them to be hooked to it. And you both amazed them with the in-ring action," Rob explained taking a seat in the locker room in front of the women.
The locker room nodded to his statement.
"So, let’s be done with this post-event analysis and get going to bed. I am sure most of you are already bored of your mind with nothing to do, and you want to either go and grab a couple of drinks or just get a good sleep at this point. But, bear with me for a while."
"First of, Dacey, Diana, you both killed it out there and from the start of the match to the end, you kept the crowd buzzing. Great job on that. And you also told a spectacular in-ring story that had both great moments and a continuity that is usually lacking, so kudos for a great job ladies," Rob said clapping his hands.
The rest of the locker room followed him with cheers expressing their approval as well. Dacey and Diana beamed at the praise and Rob could see Dacey blushing a little as well.
"Now, what we need to do is continue with the narrative. We have already kindled the interests of the crowd with that backstage segment. So, we got that covered. However, I want to make a little change here," Rob said looking at Diana,
"Diana, I want you to sell your injury for the upcoming weeks," Rob said causing Diana to frown.
"Injury? What injury?" Diana asked confused.
"The injury that Dacey gave to you during the match. You see, Dacey has been working on your back and abdomen for most of the match, right?" Rob asked causing others to nod.
"What we are going to do is sell that injury as part of buildup heading into the next PPV as well. For the next few weeks, you will appear on TV with your abdominal region wrapped up in bandages."
"This way, we add a bit of reality to your match and we also craft a story of a warrior fighting her battles despite being injured. This will earn you a lot of sympathy from the crowd. After a few weeks, Dacey will once more attack you and injure that area in particular, making the crowd hate her more."
Rob’s words were like pearls of wisdom to all the wrestlers present there. Their eyes grew wide as they realized how a simple match injury could be used to further the story and character development as well.
Normally, match injuries are used to tell a particular story or sell a particular move to the crowd during the match. No one had thought to drag it out for long. Or even considered the idea of adding a storytelling element to that.
Now, with this idea, a whole new world opened up to these women. They knew that this could drastically increase the chances of connecting with the crowd. The crowd always liked to see someone struggle despite being at a disadvantage.
It was the reason that submission spots were so popular. Seeing someone struggle out of an impossible situation always had the crowd going. So, they could see how important this could be if used in the right place.
"With that, we will be adding a subtle layer to the storyline as well. Now that we have established both of your characters, we can relax a little on the frequency of your appearances as well. That means..."
Rob looked at the other women present in the locker room.
"It means we will also get more chances to show our face..." Alanna hopped on her feet excitedly.
"Exactly. And not only that, I have another important piece of news to share with you. While this is not confirmed yet, I want to let you know that the next PPV will be half an hour longer than usual. Which means, there will be one more match on the card for the women’s division."
Rob could clearly see their excitement already.
"I know what you all are thinking, so calm down. I have not yet decided what kind of match to put out and who will be on it. It will depend on how things progress in the next two weeks. Also, note that the next PPV will be an extreme special. Which means, there will be some sort of gimmick attached to it as well," Rob said warningly.
"But, don’t worry, I will let you know about it after discussing it with Mr. Gibson on Wednesday. Depending upon the situation, we will have to alter a few of our plans to suit it. So, don’t be surprised if there are any changes of plans at the last moment while heading into the PPV."
The locker room nodded in understanding.
"So, that’s it for today. We can meet on Wednesday and I can further explain my plans to you. Well, I wish you all a good night and safe travels."
Rob said getting up. The locker room also retreated to give him enough space to leave the room. Rob got out of the locker room and started heading back toward the entrance. He was almost at the end of the hallway when he heard someone approaching him from behind.
Rob turned and found Dacey hurrying up to catch up with him. So, Rob stayed in his place and allowed her to approach him. Dacey came to a halt before him and started breathing heavily.
Rob had to struggle very hard not to peek a glance at her heaving breasts. He could see the other females in the locker room peeking from behind the doors in the distance and watching them as well.
He didn’t want to make things awkward with them by doing something inappropriate at this moment. So, he had to control his mind very hard and keep his eyes at her face level.
But, the temptation was really getting to him at this point.
With Dacey being dressed in her ring gear, which basically left little to the imagination, and her stellar appearance, it was already hard for him not to sneak peeks while he was in the locker room.
Now, she was currently standing in front of him, breathing heavily. It was a huge battle in his mind, but Rob somehow managed to keep his eyes on her face with a supreme effort on his part.
"Yes, ahem," Rob cleared his throat as his voice was a little hoarse at this moment. "Yes Dacey, was there something you wanted to tell to me?"
"Yeah... about that... um..." Dacey fidgeted a little and turned back to look in the distance.
Rob could see the other females motioning her to go ahead in the distance. He wondered what was the matter for Dacey to struggle like this. However, the next moment, something else occupied his mind.
With Dacey turning back to look at her friends, Rob was now free to peek at her assets sneakily. It was exactly what he did. His eyes were drawn to her breasts like they were some form of magnets. He couldn’t help but gulp as his eyes feasted on it.
"Well," Dacey’s voice brought him back to reality as he quickly switched his focus back to her face. "I was wondering if you were free to grab a drink or coffee with me tomorrow."
"Sure, I am free," Rob replied hastily without even thinking about what his schedule was like tomorrow.
"Oh, that’s cool. Then, I will meet you tomorrow," Dacey said with a flushed face and turned around and started walking fastly back to the locker room.
Rob stood there watching her walk back hurriedly. There was an extra sway to her hips and his eyes couldn’t get away from her swinging ass. Only when Dacey returned to the locker room did his brain reboot properly.
"Wait a minute, did she... did she just ask me out?" Rob whispered to himself in confusion and went over the conversation he had had moments earlier.
"Damn, she did really ask me out. God damn it! I was really acting like a fool there. Sure, I am free. What? I couldn’t come up with something better. Damn it, this is so embarrassing. For fuck’s sake, I am a grown man," Rob groaned inwardly as he realized how he had acted.
Just as he was groaning, he heard the entire locker room cheer in the distance. He winced as he realized that they were all in on it. He felt as if his cheeks were burning in embarrassment.
Rob hurriedly left the spot and exited the arena, not willing to hang around and embarrass himself more. He didn’t know how to feel about this development. On one hand, he was obviously happy that a sexy female like Dacey had asked him out.
However, he wasn’t entirely sure about getting into a relationship this early since his transmigration. He had never even thought about romance until now. It was surreal for something like this to happen out of the blue.
Obviously, he liked Dacey. Who wouldn’t? Dacey was a sex bomb walking around. Several times during their interaction backstage, Rob had to try hard to control himself to act professionally toward her.
It was not because he wasn’t attracted to her. But, Rob knew that before he got a firm foothold in the industry, it was better not to fuck around. So, he had never even thought of her in that manner. He always kept their interaction jovial, but professional.
Now, out of the blue, he was invited for a drink by her. His heart couldn’t help but race at that. No man would refuse to date beautiful and sexy girl women like Dacey.
But, he didn’t know whether he was ready for it.
As these thoughts bounced around his head, Rob left the LWC building and walked towards his house. The midnight moon that was shining on him felt especially beautiful to him at that moment.
"Well, I guess, I will take things as they come. I can meet up with her and see where this goes," Rob mumbled to himself as he slowly walked home.
