Chapter 33: Evolved spirits part 1

His shout startled everyone awake, even the goblins. The people lying on his body all jumped up. Aric also jumped up and got into a fighting pose. He looked at them with eyes ready for battle.

There were ten of them. Some sat on the ground rubbing their eyes, while the others stood looking at Silva. There were three ladies and seven guys.

They all looked to be around fourteen years of age.

"Who the hell are you?" he asked.

All of a sudden, one of them charged at Aric, ready to throw a punch. The dude threw the punch, and Aric dodged to the side, grabbed the hand, pulled him in, and went for a headbutt.

Their heads collided, and the guy was pushed back. He rubbed his head in pain, his face twisted and contorted like pain was a new feeling to him.

"I'll get you, I promise you that, for giving me such a crappy name as Pentharis," the guy said.

When Aric heard that, he paused.

"Wait, did you say your name is Pentharis?" Aric asked.

"Well, I didn't speak any other language, now did I?" Pentharis asked. And the others followed, starting to talk—some telling Pentharis to shut up and some supporting him.

Aric knew this banter all too well. He could tell what it was any day, any time. "Don't tell me you guys are the lesser spirits," Aric said.

"Wrong, dumbass. We are higher spirits now," Pentharis said.

"How come? When did this happen?" Aric asked.

One of the spirits walked forward to answer. She was a beautiful young girl with silver-white hair that glowed faintly like stardust. Her golden eyes shone like two miniature suns, and she wore a simple but elegant white gown. Her presence was warm, like standing in gentle sunlight.

Aric was shocked when he focused on her. How could someone who seemed so calm and collected indulge in their constant banter? It was like they lost all character when it came to bantering.

She bowed her head slightly to Aric and then spoke, "It seems you don't know which of us is which anymore, Master. I am Unara, the first spirit you named," she said.

While she was speaking, Elisa and Ariel came outside only to see the issue. They decided not to make any rushed moves and watched what was unfolding.

"You are Unara? Wait, you are a girl?" Aric asked.

"Lesser spirits have no gender when we are born, but as we evolve into higher spirits, we change into the gender we believe most fits us," she explained.

"I see. So, Unara, tell me how this happened," Aric said.

"It was the true names you gave us. They seemed to carry enough energy to make all of us evolve. We all owe you our thanks, even Pentharis, though he might not say it.

A lesser spirit has a very low chance of ever becoming a higher spirit, but you made that possible for us," Unara said and bowed again.

"With that being said, we can actually forgive you now for trying to kill us last night," one of them said. He was a boy with wild, ember-colored hair and mischievous crimson eyes. His tan skin had faint glowing cracks, like molten veins beneath the surface.

"And you are?" Aric asked.

"Treshan, the one that helped you burn that enemy of yours," he said with a tricky smile. He had a tank top on and some baggy pants as well. He had a mischievous air around him.

"Oh, you are a flame spirit then?" Aric asked.

"Yes, each one of us has our own special element, though Deca and I have the same element but in a different way," Treshan said and pointed to Deca.

Deca was a calm-looking boy. He had fiery red eyes and flowing red hair with tips that looked like they were ablaze. He wore a slim body robe that was black with touches of red.

He carried the prestige of a nobleman. When Deca saw Aric staring at him, he bowed to Aric.

"Alright, I know Unara, Deca, Pentharis, and Treshan. That's four out of the five, so please, the rest of you introduce yourselves to me, or I'm going to be really confused," Aric said.

"I'm Duvalis," one said. He was a boy with two-toned hair—one side silver, the other jet black. He had blue eyes, but as Aric stared at him, he noticed the eyes shifted to silver and then back to blue. He had some sort of shirt on and a scarf along with some baggy pants. "I'm a wind spirit," Duvalis added.

"Thank you, Duvalis. That makes five," Aric said and then looked at the rest that were standing, waiting for them to introduce themselves.

"I am Quadoris," another spirit spoke. He possessed a very sturdy build, though his face looked young. His body said otherwise. He had dark green hair and eyes like polished jade. He only had pants on for some reason, allowing his chiseled body to show. "I am an earth spirit," Quadoris said.

"Yeah, I could tell that much," Aric said with a chuckle.

Aric's eyes focused on a thin, pale-skinned boy at the back. He had his head down, wearing an all-black shirt and pants.

"Hey, you," Aric called out to him, and he raised his head to meet Aric's gaze. Aric was still wondering how all of these spirits with diverse and strong personalities quarreled with so much energy. This particular spirit was acting like he had no will to live, yet he was quarreling with the others a few minutes back.

"I am Hexorin. I am a darkness elemental spirit," he said.

"You don't have to look tired of life just because you are a darkness element," Aric said. Then he decided to ask one important question that had been on his mind since he saw them in this form.

"Where the hell did all of you get these clothes from?"
