By Seeing Beasts' Training Paths, My Beast Became Invincible-Chapter 89: Where are you… supplies?
’’So, it’s there.’’ Rocky said while his eyes gleamed cruelly. His gaze focused on an outpost 500 meters away. The wooden walls firmly stood around it, and there were four watchtowers with guards observing the area. Not only that, about 2 meters away from the wooden walls, there was a series of sharp stakes pointing toward a slanted angle up.
Just from a glance, Rocky could tell that the possibility of succeeding as attacking the outpost directly was very low. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Rocky and his fellows were lying on the snow’s surface, carefully observing their target—a good spot where the demons on the watchtowers couldn’t see them, especially with the heavy snowfall making it almost impossible.
At some point, they decided to retreat to a nearby place to discuss their plan before proceeding.
’’What do we do now?’’ a soldier asked.
Paul rubbed his chin while gazing at the outpost. It seemed like a plan was forming in his mind... or maybe not.
He turned his attention to the demon and said,
’’First, we send this bastard back to his lair. Then, he’ll find a suitable time to open it. When that moment comes, we just take it.’’
Another soldier nodded in agreement.
’’Yes, we should. The demon said his commander has gone somewhere and might return in a week, so we have to take this chance.’’
’’Moreover, in this situation, this is our only plan. Based on the information from the demon, we can’t beat them with our current forces, let alone take down such a solid outpost.’’
The others had no comment, as if they had already accepted the plan, yet Rocky spoke up.
’’Wait a sec.’’
Just like that, all of them turned to him, their eyes widening as Rocky transformed into a black cat.
His plan was simple. Rocky would use this form to infiltrate the enemy’s outpost, but even with it, it was still difficult. With the demon’s help, however, it would be easier.
The demon would use a sack to carry Rocky inside, then approach the outpost’s gate together. Once they got in, Rocky’s plan would succeed.
5 minutes later.
The demon walked toward the outpost’s gate. As the distance closed, one of the gatekeepers began to notice the demon’s existence. He was about to draw his weapon and fall into a fighting stance.
But when the demon’s appearance became clear beneath the thick snowfall, his guard began to drop.
He stepped forward and asked in an irritated voice. Either way, returning to the outpost at this time wasn’t right at all.
It was already midnight, so he guessed this soldier must be facing some trouble on the mission.
"Is there anything special about your mission?"
The demon tilted his head slightly and answered calmly. Yet, there was still a hint of awkwardness in his voice.
"No... I mean, things are still alright."
The gatekeeper rubbed his chin while gazing at the demon with mistrustful eyes. He blinked for a moment and finally noticed something that caught his attention.
He lowered his head and pointed at the sack hanging from the demon’s right hip by a belt.
"What is this?"
The demon groaned, forcing himself to answer. Tsk, it seemed the effect of the mindblind pill was starting to wear off.
"Uhm... uh, well... it’s just an arctic fox I caught earlier...I’m so starving, so this is my midnight meal.’’
The gatekeeper kept rubbing his chin while looking at the demon, who was starting to look pale.
"You look pale. Are you sick?"
The demon’s face twisted in annoyance as he snapped.
"What, are you my mother? Stop asking me. I’m already sick of you."
The gatekeeper clicked his tongue for a moment and said,
"Fine. Get in."
The demon glared at the gatekeeper before getting in. Meanwhile, Rocky lay inside the sack, letting out a long breath in relief.
(Wow... damn it... my heart almost raced instead of yours.)
Rocky didn’t expect the demon to act like that. It was quite hasty and reckless. It looked like the mindblind pill had more or less lost its effect.
But at least, they had succeeded in infiltrating the demon outpost.
10 minutes later, Rocky commanded the demon to head to a secluded place.
Rocky tore the sack open and got out. He shifted back into his human form while slowly standing up. He glanced at the demon, who was falling down and writhing, trying to break free from Rocky’s control.
He groaned, glaring at Rocky with hateful, bloodshot eyes. He gritted his jaw, forcing himself to stand up.
"Y-You’ll be killed by our commander. Son of a bitch!"
Rocky clicked his tongue, then decisively cut the demon’s throat, blood splashing onto the nearby tent.
[You have slain a demon soldier.]
[You have received 200 points.]
The next moment, he dragged the demon into a dark corner where no one would find him. He spat as he buried the corpse under the snow.
"Useless thing."
He thought he could use this bastard for a bit longer, but it seemed he had to handle things himself now. Luckily, he had followed the demon here. If he had let the demon infiltrate the outpost alone and then break free from Rocky’s control, he couldn’t imagine what would have happened.
The demon would’ve revealed information about Rocky’s troop.
A perfectly planned ambush would’ve turned into a path to their deaths. A pointless death.
"The demon isn’t something I can predict exactly."
After finishing his thoughts, he turned into a cat and began to scout around. At some point, he realized his fur color stood out against the thick white snow. And just then, his jet-black fur quickly shifted into white—something from Matt’s ability.
Matt was the kind of beast that always adapted to any situation, so this was easy for him. Even in a snowstorm, he could use that skill to give himself perfect camouflage while fighting monsters.
Rocky moved sneakily from tent to tent, passing group after group of demons that stood guard without drawing any attention, as if he were invisible in the snowfall.
"Where are you... supplies?"
