Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 563 - 564: Is it Just About Wanting a Child?
But she still got hurt.
Min Xin exhaled deeply. Looking at Gu Anxi, he softly said, "Be gentle. She’s sensitive to pain."
Gu Anxi chuckled. "So you even knew she’s afraid of pain! I thought you didn’t know!"
Min Xin was so angry he ignored her.
Gu Anxi slowly went upstairs. She’d been here many times and was familiar with the place. When she reached the living area of the master bedroom on the second floor, she knocked.
Zhou Yu was leaning on the sofa in a white bathrobe, her chestnut curls scattered on her shoulders, exuding a fragile beauty.
Hearing the sound, she opened her eyes. "You’re here?"
Gu Anxi hummed in acknowledgment and sat beside her. "Are you okay?"
Zhou Yu shook her head. "Not really."
Gu Anxi could guess what had happened. Some men just lack charm... So useless!
Zhou Yu was in low spirits. She had barely slept the night before, and it wasn’t until Gu Anxi’s arrival that she could finally fall asleep.
Gu Anxi lit some essential oils for her. A maid filled the bathtub with hot water, and Zhou Yu slowly sank into it. Little Gu gently massaged her, chatting casually all the while.
Truthfully, Gu Anxi wasn’t an expert therapist, nor were her techniques particularly professional. Zhou Yu just needed company. She didn’t trust many people, but Anxi was Jingyao’s sister, so Zhou Yu trusted her greatly, occasionally confiding in her about private matters.
Little Gu couldn’t help but gulp. This Min Xin really was... something else.
With someone to talk to, Zhou Yu gradually grew drowsy. Gu Anxi gently told her to get up, helped her dress, and tucked her into bed in the bedroom. She waited until Zhou Yu was asleep and watched the servants quietly tidy up before going downstairs.
Min Xin was still there.
Seeing Gu Anxi come down, he asked quietly, "She’s asleep?"
Gu Anxi nodded. "She’s asleep. But are you sure you want to keep tormenting her like this? She’s a normal woman; she needs a normal life."
Min Xin lit a cigarette and took a pensive drag. "Did she tell you that?"
"No, I told her that," Gu Anxi replied fearlessly.
A vein throbbed on Min Xin’s forehead. "Gu Anxi, don’t think I wouldn’t dare to touch you."
"Got some backbone, huh? Don’t call me," Gu Anxi said, casually inspecting her fingernails. "Actually, I didn’t want to come in the first place. Also, next time, could you perhaps make yourself scarce? I don’t particularly enjoy looking at old tree bark."
Min Xin scoffed. "And yet you’re not shy about flattering King Jingyao, that old bark of his."
"Ah," Gu Anxi said. "My big brother is a noble species of tree. You? You’re just a foxtail weed by the roadside."
Min Xin didn’t want to argue with her anymore and waved his hand, gesturing for her to get lost.
"The bill," Gu Anxi said, holding out her hand. "1.26 million."
Min Xin shot her a look. "Highway robbery."
He had his secretary write her a check and send her away. He truly didn’t want to see her for another second.
Once she had left, his secretary smiled. "Miss Gu is clearly such a pretty young lady. Why do you dislike her so much?"
"Dislike her?" Min Xin sneered. "I utterly detest her."
Pretty young lady? He only saw the vile, malicious heart beneath her beautiful exterior. It was she who had corrupted Zhou Yu.
The secretary smiled faintly, daring not to utter another word.
Min Xin looked up and asked casually, "Is there anything important to do today?"
The secretary thought for a moment. "Nothing particularly crucial."
Min Xin waved his hand. "You can head back to the office. I’m not going in today."
The secretary smiled and withdrew.
Min Xin sat alone from dawn until dusk, then slowly went upstairs to Zhou Yu’s bedroom. The room was dimly lit, and a captivating, cool fragrance lingered in the air.
Zhou Yu was still asleep. He reached out to brush her forehead, not expecting her to wake up.
Their eyes met. Zhou Yu instinctively tried to look away.
But Min Xin wouldn’t allow her to escape. Cupping her head with his large hand, he asked in a hoarse voice, "Feeling better?"
Zhou Yu turned her head away, not wanting to see him.
He chuckled lightly. "Throwing a tantrum again? It’s such a small thing. Why are you acting like a child, staying angry for so long? Weren’t you quite open-minded before?"
Zhou Yu kept her head turned; he couldn’t see her face clearly, only a glint of wetness at the corner of her eye.
She’s crying? Min Xin narrowed his eyes slightly and leaned closer. "What’s there to cry about? It’s not like this is the first day you’ve known I’m heartless."
Zhou Yu’s voice was low. "Let me go. I don’t want to be with you anymore."
Min Xin’s voice was gentle, as if coaxing a child. "What silly things are you saying? If not with me, then who will you be with? Those men outside? You say they can support you? Go ahead, try. See if they can still manage to eat once you’re with them."
Zhou Yu pushed him away and went into the bathroom.
Before she could close the door, he followed her in, opening and then shutting it behind him.
Zhou Yu splashed water on her face. With droplets still clinging to her skin, she looked up. "Min Xin, you can marry Tang Yuan. She and Gu Yuanshan just broke up, and you two have a daughter."
Min Xin seemed completely unfazed. "You want me to marry another woman?"
He hugged her from behind with one arm, pressing close to whisper in her ear, "Are you really willing to let go?"
He chuckled again, softly. "In the past, if I had even the slightest involvement with another woman, you’d be half-dead with anger. So generous now?"
Zhou Yu took a deep breath. Looking at their reflections in the mirror, she said decisively, "That was when I loved you. I don’t anymore. Love whoever you want, be with whoever you want."
As soon as she finished speaking, Min Xin’s expression turned exceedingly ugly. He squinted. "Say that again."
Zhou Yu, seemingly unafraid, repeated herself.
Min Xin ground his fine white teeth. "I had Gu Anxi come to give you therapy, not to brainwash you."
Zhou Yu turned her face away. "It’s my own decision not to be with you."
"Just because of a child?" Min Xin’s voice suddenly calmed. "Zhou Yu, if you want a child, fine. But after the child is born, you’ll have even less freedom. You’ll have to live abroad and might only see me twice a year. The rest of the time, I’ll either be at the office or with other women. Can you accept that? If you can, then let’s have a child."
He had barely finished speaking when Zhou Yu slapped his face.
"Get out," she cried, leaning on the sink for support.
Min Xin wouldn’t let her go. He gripped her chin, his body pressing closer. "Zhou Yu, you’ve always known. All these years, you were just pretending not to know! What are you making a fuss about now? That I haven’t given you a child? I don’t care about children! Even if it were my own flesh and blood, I wouldn’t bat an eye if it died right in front of me."
He embraced her from behind, holding her tightly in his arms, and murmured, "Haven’t I always said you’re my child? It doesn’t matter whether we have children of our own or not."
Zhou Yu felt a wave of despair. He’s mad, she thought. She also murmured, "You’re shameless. Despicable."
Min Xin chuckled deeply. "Didn’t you used to like it when I was shameless?"
Zhou Yu looked up. In the mirror, she saw his somewhat clear, bright eyes. She trembled and began to struggle...
