Captive Mate BL-Chapter 612: - - -
Angelo’s flat expression didn’t change even when the airbags in the car were deployed, the car fully inside the building. When the dust settled and the airbags deflated, he got out of the car to deal with the rest of the stragglers who had been stunned by the car crash and the building nearly caving in on their heads.
Nikolai was a tad faster, the Mafia King’s gun going off with deadly accuracy despite the impaired visibility.
"Are you hurt?" Nikolai gravitated to his side when everyone was dead.
Angelo just took his hand and led him out of the shack, watching silently as the rest of the building caved in on their car. "Now, how are we going to get to the next hit?"
Nikolai had the self-consciousness to at least look sheepish. "I’ll carry yo-"
Angelo was already stomping off at his words, planning to take a cab back to Davian’s mansion.
"It’s just two streets over," Nikolai quickly corrected, stuck to his side like a magnet.
Angelo looked over his shoulder at the Mafia King prowling behind him, immediately changing his mind about leaving when he thought about what Nikolai could get up to in his absence.
"You’ll stay behind me and do nothing." He gave out orders.
Nikolai already opened his mouth to protest, but the look in Angelo’s eyes stopped him. He had a feeling that the assassin was already being nice by letting him tag along. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
He did as he was told, quickly forgetting to be upset that he wasn’t allowed to do anything when he realized he could get to watch Angelo be in his element.
The assassin stayed out of sight with ease, using the architecture to his benefit. When he pointed out the building the gang was camped out at, Angelo did a sweep of the perimeter and returned calmly, the smell of blood clinging to him.
He didn’t charge the building after that, instead, he waited until they noticed something wrong with their scouts and sent a couple people to check on them, taking those ones out as well.
It was like leading ants to a trap with a trail of sugar, by the time they noticed something was wrong, Angelo had almost cut them all down, throwing knives glinting as they flashed out.
Compared to the last gang, this was far quieter, the men dying before they even realized that something had gone wrong.
Angelo had a streak of blood on his face when he was done, a pile of bleeding bodies left in his wake as he returned to Nikolai’s side. "I hope you already had the men bring a car around?"
Nikolai didn’t reply, his pupils dilated so wide as he stared at Angelo.
Angelo frowned, concern bleeding into his eyes. "Nikolai?"
Nikolai turned away as he put himself together, "The offer to carry you is still open-"
Angelo just pivoted on a foot and walked off, it wasn’t until he got to the street that he realized that he didn’t have cash on him. So he turned around to find Nikolai right behind him, unimpressed eyes looking the Alpha over.
"Do you have cash on you?" He asked, holding out a hand.
Nikolai didn’t even ask what he needed the money for, taking out a band of cash from his coat and putting it in his hand.
Angelo closed thin fingers around the stack of money, whipping around quick enough to smack Nikolai with his hair. Getting a cab was easy, he hopped in and slammed the door in Nikolai’s face, not looking back even once as the car drove off.
Fallon had volunteered to tag along on the mission when the boss gave the word out so they had been lingering around even before their Mafia King got there and had gotten a front seat to most of what had happened.
He was seated in the passenger seat as he watched Mafia King Nikolai get ruthlessly left behind. The Alpha didn’t move from the side of the road, staring at a car long gone.
"Do you think we should interrupt?" The driver muttered, looking and sounding antsy.
Fallon didn’t blame him, their Mafia King looked completely devasted when all the assassin had done was just leave for the bar without him. "No, give it a moment." He wisely said.
Nikolai knew they were there after all, whenever the Mafia King was ready, they would drive him to give chase.
Unaware of the discourse about him, Nikolai watched the empty street for fifteen minutes, devastated all over again that Angelo had deserted him without even knowing if he had a way to come back - it didn’t matter that he could just call himself a cab, or have his men drive him, Angelo wouldn’t be there.
Fallon had hit his limit by then, so he reluctantly got out of the car when it looked like Nikolai would stand by the side of the road until Angelo himself came to get him.
Nikolai took one look at the approaching Alpha and knew exactly what he had come to stay.
"Uh, boss? Angelo is already at the bar." He hesitantly gave the information he hoped would get the boss moving.
Nikolai’s response was to take out a cigar, still making no move to leave, a hand in his hair, completely crushed at his words.
Fallon scratched his shaved head, at a loss for what to do. He considered calling Angelo so the assassin could convince the boss to return but the Omega was incredibly intimidating and Nikolai could very well have them play skipping rope with guns if the assassin said something he didn’t like.
So he decided to return to the car to wait it out, if anyone had any opinions, they were free to bring it to Nikolai themselves.
That seemed to be the correct option because after he left, Nikolai followed right after him, the cigar he had lit remained unsmoked, thrown on the side walk, smoke drifting from the red tip to the sky.
