Captive Mate BL-Chapter 613: - - -
Angelo had been expecting to see Nikolai as soon as he got to the bar, he half expected to see the Mafia King already waiting for him in his office, but a few minutes after he settled into his favorite couch, there was still no one at the door.
It wasn’t until almost half an hour later, when he had started dozing off, that the door opened. Only one person would walk right in without knocking, so he didn’t bother opening his eyes.
He knew there was no reason to be worried about Nikolai - if anything, the worry was more apt for whoever crossed the Mafia King - yet he had stared at the door for the past hour, worry swirling in his pale green eyes.
Nikolai stopped at the door at the sight of a sleeping Angelo, his expression wry. His cold assassin was fast asleep, not caring if he lived or died.
He walked over to cover him up with his trench coat, hands clenched into fists to keep them to himself because he knew that if he reached for a taste of Angelo, he would never leave.
Angelo pried open an eye when the door closed, snuggling deeper into Nikolai’s coat to take a proper nap. He barely got started on his nap when there was a knock on the door, it prompted him to open his eyes, going on alert when the door opened cautiously.
He rose to his feet and approached the nervous Beta who looked like he had something important to say. "Report," He said casually.
The Beta hadn’t been at the bar, or he would have known where to find his Mafia King. He had come in through the back door, thinking that he could faster access Mafia King Nikolai that way.
He flinched imperceptibly at the Omega staring him down. Word about the boss’ pretty assassin got around, not just gossip, but the boss’ orders about him as well. So he knew that it was perfectly fine to give the report to him.
"Found the third gang. They camped out at a deserted hostel trying to lay low until things blew over." He said shortly, wondering if the Omega would even understand what he was going on about.
Angelo wore a thoughtful expression, Nikolai was certainly busy if the Mafia King wasn’t by his side, and he didn’t want a repeat of that morning, his forehead was still sore from the impact of the airbag.
"I’ll handle it, don’t bother telling Nikolai." He said calmly, trying not to let his trepidation show.
Because if it was so much as hinted to Nikolai that he left the bar without him, the Mafia King would hunt him down. Not surprising that he knew exactly how to do that when he needed to.
The Beta didn’t think much of it, the assassin’s word was as good as the boss’ anyway, so he nodded respectfully and made himself scarce.
Angelo wasn’t far behind him, he left Nikolai’s coat hanging on the arm of the chair he had been napping on, slipping out of the office door. He held a finger to his round lips at the shocked looks the men guarding the back door wore.
Having the men keep his disappearance from Nikolai was only temporary, but Angelo hoped to be done and back before the Alpha noticed he was gone. Nikolai let him do pretty much everything he wanted except go places without him, but if Angelo was the type to be ordered around, the Mafia King would have killed him when they first met.
In no time, he was in a fast car downtown. Nikolai’s men had been quick to offer their assistance, but he worked better alone, so he turned them down, leaving with just a single car, seated at the back as he was driven downtown.

It was just some time past noon, a little early for lunch, but Caspian was already out of the mansion, worried about his mate.
He wore darker colors today, and it made his pretty face look severe and unapproachable, at least until his worried expression broke into a beautiful smile.
Keith and Peter shared a look across the center console, they were well aware of what had happened the day before, so they knew why Caspian looked so bothered.
They had no solution to the problems of the boss’ missus, so they wisely let him have some time to himself.
Caspian stopped to stare at the gray skies as he stepped out of the car, it looked like it would rain soon. He wondered if he could convince Asher and Jael to come back early for dinner so they wouldn’t get caught up in the rain.
He went around to the back, he had been distracted for most of the day despite trying to keep himself busy in the kitchen. He knew that the only reason Katya didn’t chase him off was that she was worried about him.
He hadn’t been lost in thought just because he was worried about his mate, he had also been brainstorming ways to better help out. He had been too lax with learning useful skills and now things had gotten dangerous.
For one, he needed to learn how to drive, and keep practicing his aim. Also, how hard could it be to run a club? It couldn’t be much different from a mansion.
Caspian was only distracted until he got to Asher’s office, then he found a smile for his husband, pleased to find Jael in there as well. He knew that they were both dealing with a lot, so the last thing he wanted was for them to add being worried about him to all the baggage they already had to deal with.
He had brought lunch for three because he planned to eat with them, pleased when Asher made no move to get him to return to the mansion after he dropped off their meal.
Asher and Jael looked no different from the usual, but they could just be like him and be hiding their troubles so they didn’t worry him.
"Don’t chase me off yet, I even brought my lunch so we could eat together." He said lightly to hide the fragility in his voice when Asher suggested he return to the mansion.
Neither of them seemed to notice it, but maybe the fragility was in the air as well, because Asher gave in easily, letting him stick around.
